''So... what did you get today?'' Back at the inn, the group of three people were staying inside the same room. Lucas, the only guy of the three of them, was sitting by the window while the other two, Naomi and Lisa, were sitting face to face in the only two chairs of the room. Hearing the question, Lisa, who had just gotten back at the inn from the library, waved her hand and miracurously, a book appeared from thin air. Grabbing the book, she placed it in the table in front the both of them.

She rushed towards my side with her finger placed carefully on a figure. “No..No. This isn’t her. She...I mean..her hair and her features sure look like her, but she’s old. Old like..maybe 100 years old.” I saw the figure again, and something clicked in me. The woman in the book was standing with two other women. Including all three, they were the perfect match for those women whom I’ve always seen in my dreams. Those three...witches. “Wait..I..” “What?” she asked impatiently.

Hello! And welcome to the 3rd instalment in the main Queen Among series line-up. Before you dive in, it is important to know that understanding terms, character names, and certain events is dependent on having read books 1 and 2 before this. Each book in the Queen Among series meticulously weaves into each other and overlaps, so those moments will not make sense if read out of order.

The two women who had guided them there were gone, leaving them in the privacy and confines of the space that was heavily protected by magical spells and circles. The three women could sense them all, including Calli although she could not quite understand what she was feeling. Instead, she focused on the rows and rows of books that would have been a haven for her on any other day. She would have been enamoured and pulled to explore all of them. Today is different, though…it seems that part of my life is no longer feasible… She had worked hard to reach where she was and to know that it would all mean nothing fueled the conflicted emotions within her and her anger.

"Sam, right?" The second grabs the first woman. "Look." My wolf looks down at her hands. Wolf claws are out and her growl vibrates the floor. "Anna…” The second woman's eyes go wide. The beast runs at them, striking one in the face with her claws. The other jumps on its back, trying to subdue it, but it's too strong. "Noooo! Stop!!!" I bang on the wall of my mind as I watch the beast attack the women. "Alexi! Run!" The women grab the book they were reading and run for the door.

“Fired?” “Yes. All of them. The three women who filed the complaint—gone. No discussion. No excuses.” My chest loosened slightly, but I could still feel the tension in my shoulders. I swallowed. “Dominic… thank you. But—why?” He didn’t hesitate. “Mannie. Listen to me. All three were women. Ages twenty-two to twenty-six. All wore heavy makeup. All were targeted by the same killer.” I stiffened, the blood draining from my face. “The… killer?”

“This is the fourth time this year! That greedy old hag!” I sighed, moving closer. “Let me see.” I grabbed the paper from the counter, scanning the numbers quickly. My stomach sank with the new prices. A couple hundred dollars more? I flopped onto the couch, rubbing my temples with what I’ve read. “The rooms aren’t even that good,” I muttered, irritation lacing my voice. Amara threw herself into the chair in front of me, folding both of her arms aggressively. “How dare she raise it again! We’re barely able to pay and keep up as it is!”
