Before I could even breathe to scream, the shadow past my garden gate lunged out at me. It wasn’t a knife that tore into my chest it was the sudden, sickening realization that my identical twin sister was back, and she was here to dismantle my entire life. Looking back, I had exactly twenty-four months of absolute safety before my marriage turned into a psychological war zone. Before the nightmare officially started, my world was beautifully, deceptively quiet.

He just lay down on my lap while watching while Athena was also next to her father. I fell asleep. I didn't realize that Hades was no longer by my side. Only then did I realize that I was now on the sofa right next to Zelo. He was still watching the television while stroking my hair. I slowly adjusted my seat and looked around. The two children were gone so I immediately turned to Zelo. "Where's the twins?" I asked with confusion. "They already fell asleep," he said so I slowly nodded. He was just watching me while I was fixing myself. I also met his eyes now.

Jason gave her the phone and asked, "Would you like to go get some sleep at the hotel, or you won't mind crashing in one of the reserved rooms here?" Laura shook her head, her eyes growing serious as she replied, "No, I have something I need to take care of at the hotel; if Charlie could please drive me," "Hmm, that's fine; I'll just go over to the hotel too; let's go," Jason said, picking up his jacket. Tim walked in and saw them heading towards the door. He said, "I just got information that the twins were last seen with Lily Whites heading out of the hotel." Jaosn nodded as he replied, "Thank you, Tim; we are heading to the hotel."

In the distance, the lapping waves sounded like a melody dancing along the shoreline. I clutched my handbag in one hand, my shoes tapping gently on the cobbled path leading to my house. The house stood majestically with large windows overlooking the ocean—my sanctuary of quiet and peace. As soon as I opened the front door, shrill laughter greeted me, flowing from the living room. The clinking of plastic toys was followed by the sound of little feet running around. Before I saw them, a scene came to mind—the twins, cheerful and full of energy, like waves that never stop rolling.

Adeline and I decided that we had no choice but to take it to court. At that moment, my phone chimed with a notification. I opened it and saw the caption, "Thank you for saving me, again and again, from death." The post included one photo of Rowan asleep at Veronica's bedside, and another of Elliot carefully bandaging her wrist. I smirked and liked the post. Then, I commented, "A bitch and two scumbags belong together forever." But now, Adeline and I had no time to deal with Veronica's drama. A doctor from the hospital had just called to tell me that my miscarriage might not have been an accident.
