“I am asking because, you are very strange and am really confused. You know too much, you are acting obsessively. You live a double lifestyle. What if your other lifestyle is a lie? The one you act as Jake and as seamus. What if it’s a lie? What if your real name isn’t Jake De Walter?” I asked, staring into his eyes. Jake held my gaze without a wavering eye. He looked like he was doing a lot of thinking. He smiled, leaving the bed.

"Yeah, he said he had info on Tyler, so I tagged along. He did share a lot, and it cleared up quite a few things for me." Colt's response was sharp. "Why are you so sure he's telling the truth?" Zyra was taken aback, not expecting such aggression. "It just felt right, you know? Like a gut feeling." Colt snorted. "Let me take a wild guess. He spun you a tale about Tyler being in grave danger, not wanting to hold you back, so he made up some story?" Zyra froze. "How did you know?" "Isn't that the kind of thing you're hoping to hear?"

Too many defensive ornaments around the truth. I pushed a single sheet across the table to him, a routing log, only someone from the inside could easily explain. “Explain this entry then buddy.” His face blanched. Got him. “It wasn't… I d-didn’t m-mean…” He glanced to the others as if looking for salvation but there was none. I saw the fumble, sweat at the lips, a stutter that betrayed him. Because Mike never stutters. He babbles about pressure to pay a debt, threats about a contact who'd promise him to fix everything, something along those lines. The more he spoke the less coherent it became.

Toward the truth. ---

“Because I played one for over eight hours straight.” “Well, this one isn't stressful, so please.” She said and he nodded. “Okay, the game is called Wishes, Truth & Lies.” She said and he nodded urging her to go on. “All you have to do is make three wishes, tell me three truths and three lies, and I will tell you the one that is true and will tell you the one that is a lie, if I am correct, you will do anything I want and if I am not correct, you will give me money.”

"Yes, I always carry them around in my pocket in case the girls that I sleep with cannot sleep." Willow rolled her eyes. "How about we play two truths and one lie?" "What is that?" "You have to say three statements about yourself. Two of them have to be true and one lie. We have to guess which one is a lie. I'll go first." She said and paused for a minute to think. "Okay, here it goes: I once fell off my bike and into a lake; I have fractured my arm twice; I got stung by a bee when I was six and have been afraid of them ever since. Guess which one is the lie."

ANOKAI I stared at him. At the hunger in his eyes. At the way his thumb was still tracing my lower lip like he was already imagining what he’d do if he won. “That’s not a game,” I said, but my voice came out breathier than I intended. “That’s just you trying to get what you want.” “It’s a game if there are rules.” He leaned back slightly, his hand dropping from my face. “Truth game. We each say three things we think is true about the other person. Get at least two right and you stay in. Miss two or more and you lose.”

I looked regretfully at the balloon floating away gently in the sky. What a pity, I hadn't finished writing my wish. Henry touched my head. Without needing me to speak, he turned around to buy another balloon for me. I gazed at his back and smiled from the bottom of my heart. Henry, I made three wishes. First, I wished for world peace with no more wars. Second, I wished for a world free from diseases, and for the well-being and happiness of humanity. The last wish was for you, the very best you could have, a life you truly wanted, and not one trapped by me.

"But I’d rather not wait to find out." He studied me for a moment before shrugging. "There’s one way to get your answer, sweetheart. You’d just have to ask him yourself." "You make it sound so easy." I said, rolling my eyes. "It is. Go in there, demand the truth, and if he lies, break his nose. Simple." I rolled my eyes again. "Violence isn’t always the answer, Alden." "Says the woman who acted like a tigress the first time we met."
