"I won't disappoint you. I'll find Lily and Adrian, no matter what." Once the search party was ready, they ventured into the vast wilderness that surrounded their pack's territory. With each step they took, they felt a mix of hope and nervousness. They carefully explored every path and every corner, calling out for Lily and Adrian. Their voices echoed through the woods, but they received no response. Theo's heart raced with worry as he pushed through the thick vegetation, his mind consumed by thoughts of his missing friends. "Lily, Adrian, where are you? Don't lose hope. We won't give up. Stay strong. We're coming to find you."

•••MANDY••• I was on my laptop going the internet posting pics of Quinn but all I got was wishes hoping she was found and some people recalling she's not the first person to be missing in Portland. My phone rang I quickly got up running over to it and picked it. "Hello who is this? " I said hoping it's someone who had an idea on where Quinn was.

Happiness because after all this time, after years of searching and longing, I had finally found him. And sadness because it meant leaving behind the people who had become my family, the ones who had supported me through the darkest of days. "Where is he?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper. Martha nodded towards the door, where Finn stood with his friend, waiting patiently. "He's outside. Are you sure you want to see him?"

I promised “Even if you forget the way back I’ll find you” Her hand gripped mine tighter And we walked back into the trees Together But still chasing something just out of reach

I covered my ears but it still wouldn’t go away…that laugh…that voice…‘his’ voice… “Finally…I found you…” Found you…found you…. He found me…he…found me…

"I tried four different ones." The tears flowed freely now. "How about that?" I watched her battle with her own confused mind. "I would help you reach him," Maya said firmly. "We would find a way. I promise." I nodded, tears burning. "Thank you."

A single beep. Faint. Uncertain. I reached for the next one the way you reach for a stair in the dark, certain it has to be there, certain your foot will find solid ground if you just trust the rhythm enough to keep going. It didn't come. Then …. a long, final silence.

At school, I had a nickname. They called me "Mister Wait-Your-Turn." I waited for the sneakers my brother had grown tired of, the backpack my sister thought was ugly, and the phones my parents had already cracked the screens of. Even when it came to taking a shower, I had to wait until everyone else was done. A week ago, Mom had promised me, "On the day of your college entrance exam, you won't have to wait your turn for the shower." So when I finally stumbled into the bathroom, drenched in sweat and smelling awful, I thought my turn had finally come. I was halfway through working up a lather when someone started pounding on the door. "Come out. Let your brother go in." My eyes stung,

She fell silent then added, “Whoever finds it first can have it.” They all knew it was going to be more difficult than that but it was a plan and was something. “And how far are we going to continue looking for it?” A long pause followed. “Till we get to those hills far away. Once we reach them and we don't find it, we return back to school.”
