The Black Wolf
“What do you mean by that?”
She didn’t answer with words. Instead, she simply lifted a trembling hand and pointed through the bone door, to the heart of the cave.
Outside, a ritual had already begun. They weren’t ordinary werewolves. These were something else entirely, women only, cloaked in black garments. Their skin shimmered red, not naturally, but as if they’d anointed themselves in gore. Their eyes glowed faintly in the firelight. Magic radiated off them like heat.
There were no children. Just women, and death. My mind snagged on the thought: How do they reproduce? But the question was lost beneath the growing dread.
