His hand brushed against me, but I gently moved it away. "You're tired. Just sleep," I muttered. ... I woke up early the next morning, picking out a casual T-shirt, a denim skirt, and white sneakers. I tied my hair into a bun and did my makeup. In the mirror, I looked like an energetic young girl with fair skin, a slender figure, and bright eyes. Derrick, on the other hand, was still recovering from a hangover. His eyes were bloodshot, with dark circles underneath. Luckily, his features were decent, and he wasn't that old. Once he put on the white T-shirt, knee-length denim shorts, and white sneakers I'd prepared for him, he looked livelier.

The disappointment and bitterness gnawed at me, wearing me down. Still, the moment he saw me injured, it didn't matter how he tried to hide it, the sheer panic and worry on his face were unmistakable. "Carlee, don't be scared! I'm here!" Gwen's POV: An almost surreal sense of relief dragged my consciousness out of the thick darkness of a long slumber. I bolted awake. The room was pitch black, save for the faint streetlight filtering through the gaps in the window. The fever that had scorched my veins last night had vanished without a trace. My chest rose and fell with smooth, unobstructed breaths, my heart beating with a terrifyingly steady, rhythmic pulse. A surge of powerful vitality coursed through my entire body; not a single trace of the frail, sluggish exhaustion from my lifelong asthma remained.

"Wake up." I stirred, opened my eyes, and squinted at Steven with a frown. Sitting up, I stretched my arms and let out a quiet yawn. Turning to the window, my eyes widened as I realized it was already evening. "It's evening already?" I asked. "Yes. Visiting time is over. I came to get you. Let's go home." "Aren't you tired? When did you return from Eisner?" "Just thirty minutes ago. I thought you'd still be here, so I came to get you." Steven shrugged, glancing over at Justice. "It's been a week. When will he wake up?"

She was acting like this was just another day. I turned the shower off after almost pounding my fists into the wall. I dried off quickly, wrapping the towel around my waist and walking back into my room. My phone vibrated on the nightstand. I picked it up, checking the screen. A message from Steven. “Come drink. You need it.” I scoffed, shaking my head. Steven had probably seen the news, just like everyone else. Another message popped up. “Don’t make me come drag you here myself.” I exhaled through my nose. Fine. Maybe a drink would help.

He knew I wanted Damian with every ounce of my being. “I will get Damian without your help,” I rolled my eyes to the back of my head, “so leave me alone” “Aiden will be dead in a few days and Selena will finally become mine before her awakening. You can get Damian,” my head whipped up at his statement . “What do you mean by her awakening?” “Do you want him back or not?” “Of course I do” “Well, it’s settled” he handed me a tiny bottle from his breast pocket, “just make sure he drinks this and we are good to go. I will be waiting for your call, Kourtney. Do not mess this up again”

CHAPTER 174: Betrayed Pain Steven’s POV: I stirred, yawning loudly as I woke from my slumber. I opened my eyes, and the small light of the morning filtered into my eyes from the window. I blinked against the sting, groaning softly as I stirred from sleep. It was still too early in the morning but I was awake, energized. My body felt heavy, like it wanted more sleep—even though I knew I overslept. I turned on my side, dragging a hand over my face to wipe off the remnants of the strange unease clinging to me.

“What was that?” I was surprised and joyously clicked the first notification. [Notification: The world had ended, but it wasn't the end of everything. It is a new beginning.] What was that even supposed to say? Confused about what was really happening, I opened the two remaining notifications. [Wai- Hewoo! Welcome to IKINOBIRU. Yippie!
