He turned his head. Our foreheads touched. “We go slow,” I said. “We don’t pretend it doesn’t hurt. We don’t pretend to break the curse and fix everything that broke us.”

And for the first time since this nightmare began, I did not care. Let her wait. Let them all wait. We were done being prey. Now we became the hunters. Even if the entire world stood against us.

I’m not exactly sure what that means, but it sounds like the world is open for us to do whatever we want to do, to become whatever we want to become. I want to become an elite member of the Tech Team, employed by the Council to fight against the bad guys of the world. I want to do my part to make this world a better place. I know from my family that there are a lot of bad Alphas out there. I know from working with the Tech Team that there are a lot of bad people, in general, out there. If I can do something to make this world a better place, I want to do it. Even if it is so scary that I feel nauseous.

I owed them honesty. "This isn't ending by itself." No one looked surprised. "You all know that." Another quiet nod moved through the room. "I won't promise easy days ahead." Because I couldn't. “Thought you might need the Unbound’s voice at the table.” I looked at Kael, at my daughters, at the growing coalition. “This is really happening,” I said. “We’re actually going to fix this broken world.” “We’re going to do more than try,” Kael said, pulling me close. “We’re going to succeed.
