Cole’s jaw tightened. “Then that’s where we go.”
The rest of the night passed in fragments — running through dark tunnels, slipping between service corridors, the faint sound of drones echoing above them. By dawn, the rain had stopped, leaving the streets slick and silver under the morning light.
They emerged near the bridge. The skyline burned faintly orange beyond the fog.
Cole crouched low, scanning with his visor. “Thermals show a dozen guards around the base structure. Automated drones on rotation.”
