Suddenly, Adom stiffened. There it was—the same smell. It made him dizzy and his gaze fuzzy. Was his one glass of beer already taking effect? His omega inside was perking up again; there it was again! The same feeling. He couldn’t focus on the story the pretty omega was telling as he tried to get more of the smell. His pupils dilated, and his breath became heavy. “Are you alright?” the girl said as she touched his shoulder. Adom flinched away. He didn’t want her touch; he wanted the touch of the one with that amazing scent. He had to get away from here!

We met Oscala who was already prepared to go. “If they put up a mirage here , it means they are hiding more then just a pathway in there. We should extra, extra careful.” Oscala explained. Zephyr giddy up and stared down riding down. He signaled me to come along, like Oscala, he pretended like he didn’t know the other was there.

Zelda the witch looked me up and down with deep, hollow eyes. "Interesting." She reached out a bony finger and tapped my forehead. She pulled out a squirming stream of black smoke. I stared at the evil mist in shock. "Your wolf's essence is nearly drained," Zelda frowned. "In a month, you'll wither and die." "What?" I gasped. Zelda let the snake on her cane bite my hand, sucking away the leftover black smoke. After a sharp pain, my head felt clearer than it had in months.

The two dragons glided along for a few hours before Slate began to descend over a field in the territory of a kingdom closer to his own lair and far enough away from Beelzanborg that the soldiers who were clearly rallying to come after the Heart of Magic couldn’t reach them--yet. He touched down in a field of golden wheat, catching the sunbeams and sparkling like each stalk was made of a precious metal.

She started cutting the knots from my hair and I sobbed into my hands, feeling the weight of my hair falling down at my feet. The water was somehow even colder now, biting me in a way that it felt like needles were being pushed deep into my skin. "There we go," she finally announced a while later.

The old man pushed Zelda and jumped a few steps back, “go away… don’t think of robbing this old man.” Zelda’s lips curled into an evil arc, “6 beads, 6 amazonite crystals and a fist full of finely crushed mugwort and clear quartz.” The old man was about to shake his head once again when he felt a gust of wind rush past in… and in the blink of an eye, his waist pouch was in Zelda’s hands. She threw it in the air a few times with a victorious grin before opening and peering inside. She picked out everything she wanted and threw the pouch back to the old man.

Zelda’s pov I totally understood her. I knew just how crazy all of this was. “I’m tired, Zelda,” she said, turning back to me. The fight was gone. “I’m so tired of trying to be what you want me to be, what Dacre needs me to be. I’m going home.” She started to walk past me, back toward the ballroom. “Wait,” I said, the CEO in me snapping back to attention, trying to salvage the mess. “Let me… let me go get Dacre. We’ll… we’ll fix this. He’s not well, he’s grieving, he didn’t mean—”
