We went to the party in a limo. It was being held at the Ravenscroft Hotel. The biggest hotel in Riverbend and the most expensive too.
There was a red carpet at the entrance, and the press was everywhere, making me nervous.
Xavier squeezed my hand, reassuring me.
I looked at him, trying to steady my breath, my heart beating fast in my chest like I was about to have an anxiety attack.
"Breathe, Lauren; all that matters is just you and me. Forget about the crowd out there. I promise I won't leave your side. You have nothing to prove," He said, bringing my hand to his lips and kissing gently. His gesture calmed me a bit, assuring me I wasn't alone.
"Breathe," he said, and I did as he had instructed, taking deep breaths.
