“Talk?” he scoffed. His eyes, or rather, his one visible eye, finally met hers, and in them, she saw a profound fear. “I don’t need more trouble, Daisy. I don’t need him showing up again.”

That last sentence, those few words, made it click. A horrifying realization dawned on Daisy. Vincenzo’s sudden coldness, the brutal accusations… it all made sense.

Daisy’s blood went cold.

“You mean Vincenzo… did this to you?” Her voice was barely a whisper.

Marco didn’t answer. He didn’t have to. The way his jaw set, the fear in his eyes, they were all the confirmation she needed.

She stared at him, suddenly ashamed, a crushing guilt that she was somehow responsible for his suffering. And beneath the shame, she felt a sudden anger at Vincenzo’s cruelty. “I’m so sorry, Marco. I swear I never meant for any of this…” she stammered, her voice filled with genuine remorse.

“Go home,” Marco said softly, he wasn’t angry, he just looked completely drained. “I don’t want any more trouble.”

“You agree to the meeting,” she began, her voice steady and confident, “but under our terms. It has to be a controlled environment, a place where neither side has an advantage. All exit routes must be secured, meaning they can’t escape easily. No one enters without their IDs being checked and logged, and no weapons in sight. Bring only their spokesman, the person speaking for them, alone. Offer them limited intelligence about an outdated informant… something worthless to them, something that won’t harm us if it gets out. In exchange, demand verifiable proof of the origin of their information, so we know it’s real and where it came from. Meanwhile, feed them disinformation to sow doubt between them and their own side, to make them distrust each other. And secure surveillance inside their meeting place so you can monitor all their communication. If they try to betray us, you’re ready to react. After the meeting, confirm their intel through independent sources before committing to anythi

Daisy’s heart beat like a loud drum inside her chest as she followed Vincenzo into the huge, dark space. Their footsteps echoed loudly over the cold concrete floor. All around them, armed men slowly appeared from the shadowy corners of the warehouse. Each man stepped forward, showing respect to Vincenzo. Their eyes quickly moved from Vincenzo to Daisy, then back to him. She could feel their stares like a heavy weight pressing on her. She had never seen so many guns in one place, or so many unfriendly faces. It was intimidating.Vincenzo led her across the vast floor without flinching or even glancing at the other men. He put a hand on the lower part of her back. It wasn’t a touch meant to show he owned her, but a gentle warning. It was meant to keep her close, to gently hold her in place. That simple touch said everything: "She's with me, so leave her alone."They reached the very center of the warehouse. Where a long metal table stood directly under a single, bright fluorescent light

“I need to see your warrant,” Vincenzo said coolly, his hand extended, demanding proper procedure. One of the officers held up the warrant for Vincenzo to see. “Dead bodies found two blocks from here. Three of the men were linked to your name. We also received a tip-off about narcotics being hidden in this house.”Vincenzo’s jaw tightened. “There are no drugs here,” he stated, his voice firm.“Then you won’t mind if we search,” the officer said, a slight challenge in his tone.Daisy, still in her robe, stood just behind Vincenzo. She watched as his hand subtly reached for the gun tucked into his waistband. Her heart jumped. She stepped forward quickly.“Don’t,” she whispered, taking his hand firmly, stopping his movement. He looked at her, surprised by her intervention.“If you pull that, they’ll shoot,” she warned, her eyes pleading with him, begging him not to escalate the situation. “Please.”He slowly released his grip on the gun, acknowledging her warning.Officers then swept thr

They ended up in a back hallway, a narrow space usually used only for maintenance or deliveries. Marco folded his arms, leaning against the cold concrete wall. “You didn’t hear it from me,” he said, his voice low. “Understood,” Daisy replied, her voice firm, promising secrecy. “Four of our guys were killed today,” Marco revealed. “And one of his shipments was busted. The Russians were expecting those products, and now they’re gone. This is the first time something like this has happened on Vincenzo’s watch.” Daisy blinked, her mind struggling to process the information. “Wait, killed? Like… murdered?” Marco nodded grimly. “Yes. It was a message. A clear warning to Vincenzo.” Daisy’s stomach flipped, a wave of nausea washing over her. “Do you know who did it?” she asked, her voice barely a whisper. “If only it were that simple,” Marco muttered. “Don Marino has made enemies in every corner of the city. He’s got a long list of people who hate him. Even your father’s name comes up…

Vincenzo stood at the tall window of his study, looking out, his back to the room. The heavy wooden doors of the study creaked open slowly. Vittorio walked in first, his face tense. Behind him, two men followed, both armed, their presence adding to the seriousness of the situation. Marco came last, his jaw tight with worry and unease.Vincenzo didn’t turn around right away. The room was silent except for the soft sounds of the men entering. It wasn’t until Vittorio’s voice broke the silence that Vincenzo finally moved.“You’re late,” Vincenzo said, his voice flat, a clear sign of his displeasure. He didn’t need to see Vittorio to know he was there.“Don… we hit an issue,” Vittorio stammered, using the respectful title, his voice showing stress.“What’s in the bag?” Vincenzo asked, cutting him off, his voice calm but sharp. He already had a bad feeling, already knew he wouldn’t like the answer. The "bag" implied something that shouldn't be there.“We were supposed to take this to the w

Daisy POVArianna hesitated for half a second, her eyes flickering with something unreadable. Then, she turned and quietly made her way back towards the kitchen. When I turned around, I found Vincenzo watching me… his phone forgotten, his eyes were gleaming with a knowing glint, an amusement I couldn't quite decipher.“What?” I asked, arching an eyebrow, trying to appear unfazed, though my heart was still thumping. He stepped closer, slipped an arm around my waist and pulled me towards him, firmly, until our bodies were completely touching.“I just realized how sexy you look when you take control.” His voice was low, laced with a little teasing and a hint of admiration. “For a moment I thought you were jealous.”I rolled my eyes, pretending to be annoyed, but a genuine smile tugged at the corners of my lips. “Whatever.”But my cheeks burned, a warm flush spreading across my face. I didn’t even try to deny what he said.I walked ahead of him towards the front door, my chin held high. M
