His question left me hanging, I didn’t know what to say in response because yes, he was the target but how do you let your prey know that you are planning to attack them? Weren’t you setting yourself up for failure? I smiled, “You’re right, Mr. Vandyke. You are my target.” I paused and folded my arms. “But not for the reason you think.” I mustered courage and walked closer to him. " Your son embarrassed my mother and me, and when I came to the office, it was to embarrass him too at his workplace, but then I found out he was the son of the CEO. It would be better if I embarrassed you instead. I don’t like Cory. I could never.” I lied with so much confidence that I’m sure he believed me this time. “Embarrass me?” “Yes sir, you clearly didn’t raise your son right! He got dumped by a woman and he decided to embarrass her and her daughter at her workplace!” Roberta added more spice to the story. Well, maybe too much spice because the man’s face changed and I could swear his eyes got darker. My fear for this man increased 10 times in that instance. “You think I would teach my son to disrespect women like that!” His voice was suddenly deep and hostile. “No, of course not! We know you taught him better. Maybe he didn’t take his lessons seriously.” I intervened like my life depended on it. He rose to his feet and looking at him up close, I could see how grand he was. Really tall, unusually handsome face, ethereal beauty. There was something about this man that made him seem unreal, like a beautiful but wild animal. Why on earth did I think I could go to bed with this man? He looked… dangerous. Cory was nothing like him. He walked past us to the exit and turned around, “I thought you were jealous of Cory’s relationship with your mother, because no man ever looked your way. I came here to fix all that.” “How?” I asked because that was an unusual thing to say. “I came to set you up on a date with a good guy, who will help you wean yourself from your mother.” I chuckled, I’ve been weaned, Cory made sure of that. “Thanks for your concern, but I’m not looking for a relationship right now,” I replied. “Sure, I will be on my way then.” He walked to the door and was out in a second. I hesitated for a second and ran to the door but he was nowhere in sight. Gone, like he was never here. “Congratulations Alison, there goes your one chance to hook up with this guy,” Roberta said. “Aw no! What is wrong with me?” I sighed and went back to my bed throwing myself down on it. “But what was I supposed to say?” “No sir, don’t hook me up with anyone, it's you I want! Be direct. This man can’t catch a hint.” Roberta yelled. “That sounds desperate and terrible, I’m sure he will file a restraining order against me if I ever say that to his face,” I replied. Gloria nodded, It looks like she has given up on me. I know that look. “Let’s forget about this whole thing. It was a crazy idea anyway.” She replied and went to grab her purse from the bed. “Enjoy the rest of your day Al.” “You too,” I mumbled as I watched her go I am angry with myself too. I want that revenge because I feel like it would make me feel better. I just had to do it without being too direct or obvious. I believe there was a better way to do it. So I logged onto the internet and started searching for something about Ralph Vandyke. He was a really busy man, it would be so hard to casually bump into him as a regular person. Hmm.. this was hard but I kept searching till I found something. There was a charity sports event coming up to raise funds for children with cancer. Important personalities will be present to take part in this event and no other person than Ralph Vandyke would be there. They were looking for volunteers for the event. I looked through the list to see what I could do. There were a lot of options to choose from, so I looked at what Vandyke would be doing. He was going to be taking part in a boxing game. Great! I could apply to be a ring girl and that’s what I did. But after applying I felt like I could apply for one more role in case I didn't get the first one. So I applied to be on the first aid team. There was a space that demanded my details, I hesitated for a second but filled in my details. After that, I drew in a deep breath and hesitated to submit my application. Was I doing the right thing or was I just consumed by revenge? My phone started to ring and when I checked it I was surprised to see Cory’s name. Why did I still have his number in the first place? I should’ve blocked him, but now that I hadn’t blocked him I had to answer the call. “Hey!” He yelled, “can you get your clingy and desperate ass out of my dad’s life? He was here this morning asking about you. He thinks I’m some pervert who was chasing both mother and daughter!” “Because that’s what you are, you greedy bastard!” I yelled back. “I never liked you! I wanted your mother right from the start, your mother is hotter and way better in bed. Accept it and move away from me and my dad do you hear me?” He yelled. His words cut me deep and I was bleeding again, I didn’t have any words to say other than to hang up. Now I wanted revenge more than ever, so without further hesitation, I tapped on the submit icon.
