“Hey, what are you doing? Why are you taking out the IV drip?” IV drip? Is that what the rubber rope is called? Wow! “I apologize, but I thought…” “Stop the nonsense! What exactly did you think? How foolish are you to attempt to remove the IV? Lay down now!” Her reaction took me completely off guard. The lady wore a pink gown that fell slightly below her knees. She wore an unusual bow in her hair. “Are you deaf?” She yelled, striding closer to me, “I asked you to sleep, you low-life; how dare you disobey?” Kpa! Before I could react, both of my cheeks were slapped. I blinked twice but could not recover my composure. Fuck, that was painful. “You… Why did you hit me? Do you know who I am? How dare you?” I raised my hand to retaliate but was pushed back to the bed by a stronger force. “What are you trying to do? Hit our chief nurse? Who do you think you are? A lowly peasant picked up by the Alpha at the brick of death. You should be grateful to us for saving your ass.” Kpa! Another slap. I felt dizzy. My body was in pain, rendering me helpless. It wasn’t that I'm not grateful, hell, I don't even know my situation right now… I clenched my teeth in fury. I may be helpless, but I will not let myself be a victim of their bully. I wriggled my hand, attempting to break free from the new person holding me down, but my strength was insufficient. “Let me go!” I spoke in a weak tone. I was starting to feel pain in the hand that had the tube inserted. “Stop, you are hurting me.” I hissed in pain, and she chuckled. “Gingerhead, why are you struggling? Were you not trying to seduce the Alpha a while ago? Let me help him teach you a lesson…” My hair was pulled so hard that tears welled up in my eyes. “Isn't this red hair what you plan to use to draw his attention, huh, little vixen? You are so young that you should not be focusing on Alpha. Such a weak person deserves to be beaten. Sister, please help me teach her a lesson. Drag her out!” They both dragged me from the bed to the floor. My vision was blurry at this point. I felt a sharp pain in my wrist and realized the IV tube had been removed, and blood was now flowing. Moon Goddess, did you give me another chance only to be humiliated to death again? “What in the hell is going on here?” he exclaimed. His voice was so loud that it caused the light in the glass to shake. “Hah, it's our Alpha!” “Welcome back, Alpha Nathaniel!” The two ladies immediately let go of me and bowed, looking down at their toes. “I asked a question!” His high-pitched voice nearly gave me a headache. “This peasant has disobeyed the chief nurse. She tried to seduce you earlier, so we taught her a lesson.” “Yes, Alpha Nathaniel. I bet this little thing will never dare go against anyone in the future. She's not even a member of our Twilight Pack, tch!” Kpa! Slap! Slap! “Alpha Nathaniel, please forgive us.” To my surprise, both of them dropped to their knees. Despite being nearly unconscious, I could hear fear in their voices. “How dare you harm Alpha Nathaniel's Luna? Trying to teach her a lesson? Are you seeking death for yourself?” The words were said by a man. His face was obscured, but I could tell he had a large frame. “Are you okay?” he asked as he picked me up off the ground. “Your hand…” I saw his cheekbone tightened. “What has happened to her face? Who did this?” I shuddered at the danger in his tone. “Alpha…” “Withdraw their medical license. These two have been demoted to commoners. Allow them to mix organic manure for the next two decades. “If they make any more mistakes during their services, kill them and transport their bodies to the mortuary. They will be cremated and have no burial ceremony. This should serve as a warning to everyone else.” Alpha Nathaniel declared. “Yes, Alpha!” “Ah, I plead for mercy. Please forgive me; it was the chief nurse's order. I am innocent. I worked hard for seven years to get this position. Alpha, I beg for your mercy.” The second nurse wailed and fell to the ground, pleading. “What do you mean by my order? It was you who had instigated me. Alpha, I beg your pardon; I have worked in the medical field for the past two decades. Please consider... do not demote me to a mere commoner, I beg you. I am innocent.” “Edward!!” Nathaniel, the Alpha, roared. “Forgive my incompetence, Alpha,” the earlier guy said, bowing respectfully. He turned toward the door and yelled, “Guards, come drag these people. They have injured and attempted to murder the Luna. It is punishable by death!” The two nurses were then dragged outside by the guards. Their screams and pleas went unheeded. I grabbed his shirt as shivers ran down my spine. What a cruel sentence. He truly embodies the rumors: heartless. He looked down at me, and I swear I saw a creepy smile creeping into those sexy lips. “Anything for my mate!” He looked up at the burly guy and said, “Edward, call Doctor Cardo Lee and have him arrive at my condo within five minutes.” **** “How is she?” Alpha Nathaniel inquired. I am not sure why, but his voice sounded worried. “Fortunately, I arrived on time. I am not sure how lethal this would have been,” the doctor responded. He turned to face the alpha and let out a soft sigh. “Her body constitution is weak, with an imbalance in her Yin-Yang component. Not only that, but her cultivation level appears to have shattered, resulting in zero cultivation. “I am afraid you will have to pay close attention to her and ensure she gets special care. I will prescribe some beneficial tonics and traditional medicines because that is what is required at this time,” he paused and took a deep breath, “she is also malnourished, so extra care should be taken with her food. If followed correctly, I believe the Luna will be properly fit with an above-average cultivation in six months.” “Is that all?” “Yes, Alpha. I will not disturb you with my presence. I'll take my leave.” Alpha Nathaniel casually waved his hands at the terrified doctor before calmly approaching me. “You heard him, right? Be a good girl and let your handsome, super-rich husband take good care of you.” Handsome, super-rich husband? Why do I get the impression that hearing those shameless words will cause a nosebleed?Took me a while to put together this chapter. Please vote gems. Drop your reviews on the chapters so far! ~The Crimson Shade Pack~They were called the Crimson Shade Pack. A small, secretive pack that most dismissed as little more than a myth. Every member wore a long, deep-red cloak, the hood pulled low to shadow their faces. They moved quietly like ghosts slipping between worlds.Their territory sprawled across Hollowpine Marsh, a bleak, fog-choked stretch of land where twisted cypress trees clawed at the sky and pools of black water glistened like oil.The air was damp and heavy with the scent of decaying wood and something metallic; an unmistakable signature of Crimson Shade. To outsiders, the smell was enough to make them gag; to the pack, it was a source of pride.Their lair was hidden in the marsh’s heart, a crumbling fortress of dark stone that looked half-swallowed by the bog. Wooden walkways and rope bridges connected leaning towers and sunken halls, swaying above waters that swallowed the careless whole.Inside, green torches burned fitfully along the walls, their sickly light
~Eleanor~“When did Jenna begin wielding dark magic?” I asked.Nadia blinked, startled. “I… I don’t know,” she admitted, shaking her head. “I’ve never seen her use it. Not once. And I’ve never even smelled it on her.”I frowned. “Smelled?”She fluttered her eyes before quickly nodding. “Dark magic has a scent, Miss Luna. It clings to skin and breath like ash soaked in rusted iron. It’s not something anyone can easily wash off. Those who use it carry it… unless they are top-level users. Minister Jenna could never achieve that level given her age.”“And you’ve never smelled it on Jenna?” I asked slowly.“Never.” Nadia’s voice trembled. “And I would’ve noticed. I trained with her. Ate with her. Fought beside her. There was never a trace.”A cold silence followed. Confusion settled in my chest like a weight I couldn’t shake. None of it made sense. If Jenna had truly attacked Nathaniel using forbidden magic, there should’ve been signs… more than just a pendant.I frowned harder, stepping a
~Eleanor~I clutched the pendant tighter, watching Nadia with the sharpness of someone who had already lost too much. My voice was like steel scraping against stone.“Where did you get that necklace?”Her brows furrowed in confusion. “This?” she said, fingers brushing her own chain. “Why?”I held up the one the intruder dropped. The moment her eyes landed on it, her breath hitched. She didn’t hide it.“I… I don’t understand,” she murmured. Her fingers unconsciously clutched her necklace tighter. “It looks just like mine. Save for some slight differences.”A part of me wanted to believe her — but the timing, the design, the way she hadn’t been there when Nathaniel was nearly killed...“Miss Luna,” she said softly, eyes locking with mine, “I swear on the stars, on the moon, and on my loyalty to Alpha Nathaniel, I don’t know anything about this. That pendant—it’s been in my family for years. Passed down from my great-grandmother.”“Then explain this.” I tossed the other one onto the tabl
~Eleanor~ I opened the door with just a crack and peeked out. Two guards were pinned against the corridor walls, groaning, seeming to be in intense pain. The figure darted past them, cloaked in black, moving like a shadow. I barely registered the motion before it got in front of me. I tried to slam the door shut but I was too slow. A flash of dark energy surged forward. Boom! The blast of black magic struck me square in the chest. I flew back like a ragdoll, crashing against the far wall. Pain erupted through my body. I hit the floor hard, coughing violently as blood spilled from my lips. My ribs screamed, and it felt like my organs were collapsing in on themselves. ARGH! Damn! I tried to rise but failed. My limbs shook. My vision had gone mia. The cloaked figure silently stepped inside, swiftly, with her face hidden beneath the folds of black fabric. I could tell from the small form of her cloak that a female was behind it. The aura around was suffocating and cold; soaked in fo
~Eleanor~I buried my face in my hands, mortified beyond belief. My cheeks were flaming, and my heart was racing like a rabbit under a hawk’s shadow.Nadia gently strode inside and set a silver tray on the nightstand. Her movements were composed, as though nothing was amiss. I didn't feel any better. It’d be better if she at least teased me but said nothing… oh Goddess."Drink this, Miss Luna," she said softly, handing me a steaming bowl of herbal medicine. "It will help with the aftershocks."I slowly looked up. "Is it morning?"Her lips curved faintly. "It's the second morning since the ritual. You've been in and out. Mostly out."That startled me. "It’s been two days?"She nodded, glancing briefly at the man beside me. I followed her gaze. Alpha Nathaniel, still lying beside me bare-chested, was completely motionless, save for his chest, which was steadily heaving up and down."Has he been asleep since then too?" I asked, feeling a bit shocked. Isn't he the all-powerful Alpha? How
