Alana’s POV.
I stared at my best friend and a sigh escaped my mouth as I realized it wasn’t a stranger who touched me earlier.
“Hi Aurora.” I sniffled not bothering to wipe the tear from my face.
“I heard what happened, I walked out to get something and I came back and everyone was talking about it.” She frowned, reaching out for my hand.
My body was numb, I was still in shock from what happened minutes ago, but I didn’t pull away when she took my hand in hers, instead staring at our joined hands and the way they looked like an old friendship bracelet.
She pulled me up, “I’m sorry that happened,” She whispered. “Are you okay though?”
I shrugged, “I mean, I feel numb, but I guess I’ll be okay. It hurts really bad though.”
“You should try and talk to him later.” She suggested, a weird smile appeared on her face. A smile I had never seen before.
I paused, and stared at her for a while, confused and wondering if I imagined the gleeful smile I saw , “I will do that… I guess…”
She dropped me at my room and I walked in, still feeling hurt over what happened minutes ago.
I yelped when I fell on the bed, Nathan filled my thoughts.
*******
I couldn’t sleep.
I tossed, turned, and thought of Nathan and what he did to me, my heart clenched and the pain I felt was unbearable.
I needed to speak to him, he needs to know I’m carrying his child, uncertainty made me waver for some minutes.
I walked to the direction of his house, nervous yet determined to talk to him.
I paused when I walked in, surprised to see the front door open, he didn’t leave his door open easily and the guards were always around, but they were nowhere to be found.
I stepped inside the house, my heart pounding in my chest at every turn I took. The only thing giving me hope was knowing he was the only one who stayed here.
I could hear voices coming from inside of his bedroom, it made me wonder who he invited to his room.
I opened the door, slightly nervous, I gasped when I saw Aurora kissing Nathan.
They both turned around looking embarrassed.
Nathan’s eyes narrowed as he stared at me, “Why are you in my room?” He barked.
“I thought I made it clear when I announced in front of everyone that I want nothing to do with you anymore.” He added.
“I’m sorry…I…” I stuttered stumbling back a little.
“I should uh, go,” Aurora mumbled, she looked around awkwardly, a slight smirk on her face. “I’ll leave you two alone.” Aurora winked and rushed off, closing the door behind herself.
Nathan and I stood there frozen until Aurora left, then we just stared at each other.
The pain I suddenly felt made me want to cry, but I bit my lip, trying to hold the tears back.
“What is this? Why are you suddenly...?” I paused trying to think of a word to put how I felt right now.
Nathan scoffed, “We’re no longer mates, you need to leave my room, you’re not invited here without my permission.”
“I wanted to wait for you to talk to him, but I can’t do that.” Aurora suddenly burst into the room, her cheeks red.
I felt even more hurt, my heart ached more than ever as I looked down at the ground unable to look Nathan in the eyes, confused by everything that has happened.
“Why are you back?!” I exclaimed, frustrated that Aurora decided to interrupt me.
My voice raised to a higher octave.
“Because I don’t know why you can’t just move past it.” She said angrily, throwing her hands around.
“What?” I blinked, confused at what she meant by that, my heart rate slowed a little and my breathing became slow.
“You just kissed the man you consoled me about hours ago.” I watched her closely for any sort of reaction.
She rolled her eyes before speaking again, “He told me that it doesn’t matter anymore. He said you’re not mates anymore and he kissed me first.” Aurora sighed in frustration.
I faced him waiting for him to deny what she just said.
I watched him carefully, waiting to see if anything changed in his expression. He didn’t blink once.
“Get out.” He roared making me tremble in fear.
There was silence for a long while until I blurted out the first words on my mind, "I still don’t understand why you rejected me and just kissed my ex best friend.” I said, ignoring how my voice cracked a little, I couldn’t hide the pain anymore.
“I don’t care about what you’re thinking, as your Alpha I gave you an order, you need to leave my room right now ." He snapped.
I walked out, my head pounding as tears ran down my face, I stumbled onto my own feet and headed straight outside of the house, I stopped at the entrance.
I touched my stomach, wondering if I’ll ever get the chance to tell him about my pregnancy.
“I knew you’ll be here.” Aurora’s voice broke through my thoughts making me look behind me.
She stood next to me, “I had to kiss him one more time before rushing here.”
I stared at her, still in shock about everything that has happened so far.
“Thanks for the information, I don’t need it.” I tried to force a light laugh as I walked past her.
“I think you need it, the alpha rejected in front of everyone and he wants me now.” She bragged immediately she grabbed my hands.
I stared at her, still shocked and hurt by everything happening, I couldn’t believe she would do this and I didn’t know why she did.
“I can’t talk to you right now.” I muttered weakly.
My whole body trembled as I made my way home slowly, my mind was spinning. What was actually going on with me?
In a span of hours, Nathan rejected me and my ex best friend is kissing and laying claims to someone who was once my mate.
My wolf paced inside me, moaning in pain, I understood her agony, I felt the same pain she felt.
Nathan’s POV.I could see the annoyance on her face, it made me wonder if she’ll let me in.Alana has made it clear with her actions recently that she wasn’t going to forgive me anytime soon. She stared at me with narrowed eyes, a sigh slipped past her lips.I remember how she sent me away yesterday, how she let Alpha Ethan walk in.I clenched my jaw, the memory of him being treated like he’s Liam’s father made my fist clench as well.I understand that she has every right to treat me this way, but it still felt like someone had stabbed me in the chest with a knife.I wanted nothing more than to start again with her, but she didn’t give me the chance to do so.“What are you doing here?” She asked with an unimpressed look that was supposed to be cold, but I could sense the underlying tension between us.My brows furrowed, “I came to visit Liam, see how he’s doing.” The words left my mouth slowly, I didn't want to sound too eager or desperate for her attention, but I was tired of waiting
Alana’s POV.I watched him walk away, his shoulders down a little, I couldn’t help but feel slightly bad for sending him away.He walked slowly towards the route leading him away from my place.I felt a little regretful, but I couldn’t change my decision, I had to stand on the fact that his change of mind and his sudden niceness towards me might not last.Alpha Ethan comes in with a smile, “So how is he?” He asked, his head inclined towards Liam.I rushed towards my son, my heart beating so loudly it made my cheeks hurt. I could hear him breathing heavily under my grasp and I let out a small sob.His eyes were closed but tears were streaming down his face, as if he was going to cry out loud again at any moment.“It’s okay, he’ll be fine.” Alpha Ethan said reassuringly while rubbing circles into my back. I didn’t look up, I could tell that he was looking at me worriedly. “I can’t believe this happened, he already hurt his hand and now this happened.” I sighed and began pacing the room
Nathan’s POV.I ran towards the direction of the border immediately. Alpha Ethan’s beta announced that rogues were trying to break in.The commotion made it difficult to get through the crowd and I could barely see what was going on. All I knew was that there’s a group of people trying to come into our territory. I paused when I noticed Alana and Liam, Liam screamed as he held leg.I turned to my beta who ran beside me, “Join his beta and him to the border, I need to check on my son.” I ordered. My beta nodded before she turned around and followed them. “Stay safe.” I told him as I ran off.It was hard to make out everything clearly from where I stood, but I moved towards them.“Please help me move his leg.” Alana said, tears were falling down her face and her face was pale. Her hands were shaking as Liam kept screaming.I lifted the cupboard off his leg and winced when I saw the damage. The nail from the cupboard had pierced his skin deeply. Blood trickled slowly onto the concrete
Alana’s POV.I rushed to Liam’s side and carried him up immediately, the bruise on his arm looked more serious up close, as well as his cut lip which was bleeding profusely.I had to stop myself from screaming,”I’m so sorry my love.” I patted his head.“It’s okay mom.” He replied teary eyed with a shaky smile as he stumbled while trying to stand.I tore part of my clothes and wrapped it around his wound, my heart hurt for him seeing him like this, my wolf howled in pain.I turned to Aurora who started laughing, “Look at how stupid you both look, mother and son standing there like idiots.” She snorted.I made Liam sit silently by the tree trunk, I stalked closer to her.My palm landed on her face as I snapped at her, “Shut up. You’re not funny Aurora.” I said coldly.“Why would you do that to my son?” I demanded.“Did you just hit me?” She yelled back.“Yes” I answered simply.Aurora tried hitting me back but I grabbed her wrists tightly, my nails dug deep into her skin until I heard h
Aurora’s POV.I watched Nathan from afar, I could see the longing in his eyes and how he wanted to hug his son immediately Alpha Ethan hugged him.I sighed, frustrated that everything so far didn’t happen the way I wanted. I yelped slightly when I realized the root of the tree I held on to pierced my hand through a thin branch as I was about to jump up. “Oh crap.” I mumbled under my breath. I stared at the direction of Alana’s house and realized that Nathan left, my anger at watching them increased, it made me upset that this wasn't going the way I planned.I turned around and walked back to my house, my anger not dissipating , I just wanted everything to go back the way it was before we came back here.I yelled to the empty house immediately I got in, throwing my bag on a chair, I let out an irritated sigh, “What am I going to do now?” I thought miserably. “Maybe if I ask the seer to say something else it would work.” I murmured to myself before turning away from the table toward
Nathan’s POV.“I went to your place and I couldn’t see you.” Aurora glared at Alana, her gaze lingered on Liam for a while before she stared at me.“Why are you looking for me?” I asked, my brow furrowed. She looked away from me but not without glancing at me once again. “I had something important to tell you.” “Okay, this is the part where I’ll go,” Alana interrupted, she grabbed Liam, “come on Liam let’s go.”I watched her walk away, the urge to follow her immediately came over me, but I knew I couldn’t do that with Aurora here.“What is it?” I turned to her with a frown.“You’re really not behaving like an Alpha anymore, you keep following Alana around, I know I’ve said this before, but it’s not looking good.” She crossed her arms over her chest, “you need to remember why you ended your relationship with her, you’re the one who told me what the seer said.”“Okay.” I didn’t plan on saying more, the seer’s words were still fresh in my head, I didn’t tell anyone what she said yet.“
