THE HANDING OVER CEREMONY The grand hall of the Salvadors company was mainly used for big events and business gatherings. Today was the handing over ceremony, where Samantha would formally be given the position of the CEO by her father, Mr. Ray Salvador. The hall buzzed with excitement and anticipation as the guests awaited the ceremony. Samantha, dressed in a stunning black gown, stood confidently at the podium, her father by her side. Estella, seated in the front row, glared at her sister with a mixture of anger and jealousy. Aiden, standing at the back of the hall, couldn't take his eyes off Samantha, a soft smile on his face. As the ceremony began, Mr. Salvador praised Samantha's achievements and leadership skills, declaring her the perfect successor. Samantha's heart swelled with pride as she accepted the position, her eyes locking with Aiden's for a brief moment. He gave her a thumbs up, and she couldn't help but smile. “Would you like to make a statement and address everyone?” Mr. Ray asked and Samantha nodded with a smile. She took the mic from him and released a heavy sigh as she stared at the faces of the people she was going to work with now. She couldn't believe this was really happening after all she had been through. With confidence, she began, “I want to start by saying thank you to my father, Mr. Ray Salvador, for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I am honored to be taking over as CEO of this great company, and I promise to work tirelessly to ensure its continued success. To my colleagues, I look forward to working with each and every one of you, and I am excited to see what the future holds for us. And to Aiden…” she paused, her eyes locking with his, “I promise to make this company proud, and maybe, just maybe, I'll even make you proud too.” The hall erupted in applause, and Aiden's smile grew wider, his eyes shining with admiration. Estella's face turned red with rage, her eyes blazing with a fierce intensity. She couldn't believe Samantha was acknowledging Aiden in her speech, and it was clear to everyone in the hall that there was something between them. She felt a surge of anger and jealousy, and she knew she had to act fast to sabotage Samantha's success. “Oh you watch how I'm going to make you beg at my feet, Samantha.” she seethed. Mr. Salvador was so happy and couldn't believe Samantha acknowledged Aiden. It was something he didn't expect, and he couldn't deny the amount of joy he felt. This was a good start since then and Aiden were practically partners now, and it was also an opportunity for their love story to blossom into something very beautiful. “Aiden, please come up and say something.” Mr. Ray requested, and Aiden walked over there with a nod. Bianca and her father sat on the third row with a scowl on their face. Mr. Sullivan was so jealous of the Salvadors. Not only did they have Mrs. Thompson on their side, they also had the Callymores. That moment, they knew Samantha was a threat. All this was happening because she suddenly returned to the family. Aiden took the stage and collected the mic. The hall thundered with applause before he could even begin his speech. He was a notable figure and as much as people loved him, they dared not step on his toes and enter his blacklist. He could end their career with just a snap of his figures. He might appear calm and always composed, but he was ruthless when it comes to dealing with people. “Good evening, everyone,” Aiden greeted with a smile. “I must say, I'm impressed by Samantha's speech. She's a true leader, and I'm honored to be a part of this company's future. I promise to support her in every way possible, and I'm confident that together, we'll take this company to new heights.” The hall erupted in applause again, and Samantha just stood there, feeling proud of herself. “He is a good man, isn't he?” her mother whispered to her. Samantha sighed. “He actually is.” she continued staring at him, and when he turned to meet her eyes, she quickly looked away. As the night wore on, Aiden made his way to Samantha, his eyes never leaving hers. “You were amazing up there,” he whispered, his voice low and husky. “I'm so proud of you, Samantha.” Samantha's heart skipped a beat, her pulse racing with excitement. She wondered why she felt so excited for being praised by him, and she wondered why it hit differently. “Thanks.” she forced a smile. Soon the pianist began playing a beautiful waltz and Aiden stretched out his hand to Samantha, his gaze intense and inviting. “Remember your promise?” he asked. “Let's dance, Samantha.” Samantha took in her bottom lip and nodded slowly. It was just a dance anyway. What was there to lose? She took his hand and he left her to the dance floor while everyone stared in amazement and cheerfulness. Estella was burning with so much rage. She couldn't take the sight and stood to her feet, storming out of the hall. She knew if she stayed any longer than she already had, she might be able to control herself and might just break a bottle on Samantha's head. As Samantha and Aiden danced gracefully, they didn't break eye contact. “You dance beautifully.” Aiden commended her and she smiled. “You're not so bad yourself.” she replied. “Trust me, you haven't seen half of what I can do.” he smirked while saying this. Samantha hummed. “Show me what you can do then.” she drawled and Aiden smirked. “With pleasure,” his eyes glinted with mischief, and he pulled her closer, causing a gasp to escape her lips. He wrapped his hand around her waist and pulled her in, his body swaying to the music, his eyes never leaving hers. Samantha felt a rush of excitement, her heart racing. His move was so sudden that she couldn't help but get butterflies. She knew there would be trouble if she begins to develop feelings for this man, but she couldn't stop herself from getting lost in the music with him. As they danced, Aiden's hand tightened around her waist, his fingers brushing against her skin, sending shivers down her spine. Samantha's eyes locked onto his, and she saw the desire and passion burning in them. She knew she had to be careful, but she couldn't help herself. It was like he had this magnetic field around him that was pulling her in. The music ended, and Aiden bowed, his eyes never leaving hers. “Thank you for the dance, Samantha. I'll never forget this moment.” he pecked the back of her hand and went to meet a businessman who needed his attention. Samantha stared at him. “Me too, Aiden.”26.A DAY LATER..."When are you going to rest, Mrs. Salvador? You shouldn't be stressing yourself out like this. I don't know how much longer your body would be able to fight this." Doc. Mara, who was in charge of her health, spoke up, worry etched into her voice. She had come to complain about her headaches and body weakness, and the doctor had checked her only to realize that her condition wasn't improving a bit.Samantha sighed. "Doc, you do know the kind of work I do, don't you? It does not require me to just sit and do nothing. I have to be busy all the time, paperworks here and there, TV interviews day and night, not to mention the eyes of the press are always on me. I'm under a lot of pressure, you know." she complained."I know but it wouldn't bite to take a short break. During that period, you could hire a manager. That would make the work lesser for you. You wouldn't have to do tons of paperworks anymore." Doc. Mara advised her.Samantha massaged her temple. "I'll consider
25.Jessica sat down on the couch and took a deep breath. Samantha was right about everything. There were times she had wanted to put Estella in her place, but she felt the girl just needed to be loved. She recalled how Estella would cry herself to sleep every night and shut herself out from everyone during the day. There are times she would want to do the work of a mother, but Estella had always been hostile towards her from day one.She could still remember the incident that occured the first day she stepped her feet into the house.FLASHBACKYEARS AGOJessica walked into the mansion, her hands wrapped around Ray's arm. They had just tied the knot and he had insisted she moved into the house today. She had no idea he was such an influential person because he was simple yet nice towards her."Ray, I know you were rich, but you didn't tell me you were this rich." she gushed over the beautiful interior. Being a designer herself, she couldn't help but admire the intricate designs on the
24."Excuse me?" Samantha couldn't believe what this lady just blurted out from her mouth. "For the record, Dad just traveled, he isn't dad, and again, he never asked you to be in charge of anything. We aren't kids."Estella glared at Samantha. "And who asked you to talk? It's not like you're the first daughter of the house or are you?""I might not be the first daughter of the house, but I won't be disrespected." Samantha replied.Estella laughed. "Look who is talking about respect? Do you think you're a big shot now because Dad made you CEO of the company? The CEO tag is just a title, it doesn't stop you from being a nobody because that's exactly what you are."Samantha tightened her fists. She was about to talk but Jessica stepped in to quell the situation. "Girls, you two are sisters-""Correction: stepsisters. She doesn't even deserve to be called my stepsister because I am sure she is an illegitimate child!" Estella snapped."Watch your tongue, Estella. I will not tolerate being
23.SULLIVAN GROUP"Not only have we lost a deal with Mrs. Thompson to the Salvador Group, they have also been able to win over the board of directors. They have influential people on their side, and I'm beginning to doubt if we can pull through with this plan." Mr. Will complained as he took a seat on a chair facing Mr. Sullivan. He had been present at the meeting and was the one who tried to oppose Samantha and got shut up by Aiden. He was one of the Salvadors directors but his loyalty lied with the Sullivans, and he was ready to do anything even if it meant betraying the Salvadors so as to bring the Sullivans to the top.Mr. Sullivan leaned back in his chair, steepling his fingers together as he thought. "We need to think of something, and fast. We can't let the Salvadors get the upper hand.""I agree," Mr. Will sighed, the frustration in his voice was evident. "But what can we do? They have the board on their side, and they have the resources to back them up."Mr. Sullivan's eyes
22.And then slowly, hands began to rise. Aiden's eyes scanned the room, his gaze piercing as he counted the votes. Finally, he nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. “It seems the majority is in favor of Samantha as CEO. Let's get to work, shall we?”The room erupted into a flurry of activity, with directors and partners scrambling to congratulate Samantha and begin implementing her plan. Aiden watched with a sense of pride and satisfaction, knowing that he had played a crucial role in supporting Samantha and securing her position as CEO. Samantha looked at him. Who exactly was this man and what power did he wield to make her earn support this easily? She had thought Mrs. Thompson would be the one to save the day since her father had told her that if she had Mrs. Thompson by her side, she would win over the rest. Her father never made mention of Aiden, and he was the one who turned the game around just now.“Samantha,”She felt a tap on her shoulders and turned around to see Mrs
21.CALLYMORE GROUP“The Sullivan's just handed him a contract, and he is having a word with Bianca's father today.” Seth conveyed to Aiden, who nodded his head as he swayed in his chair.Aiden smirked. “Let's let him be for now then.” Seth raised an eyebrow. “Didn't you say you were going to deal with him, or have you suddenly changed your mind?” Seth asked, his tone teasing.Aiden threw him a glare that made him zip his mouth. “I didn't change my mind. The best form of dealing with someone in an excruciatingly painful way is to make them think everything is working for them, and they have won. When they get engrossed in their “victory”, that's when you strike. And with a blow so subtle, they won't even know what hit them until it's too late. Trust me, Seth, I have a plan. And it's going to be glorious.”Seth raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Aiden's cryptic words. He knew better than to question him further. Aiden's mind was a labyrinth of strategies and tactics, and he was always th
