Tony Wood's POV

“Where's Angela?

Where's Kelly?” I popped the question without a direct lead.

I was hoping that someone would sacrifice themselves to speak up.

“Oh, shit. She fucking escaped.

How did this happen?

Where are the fucking nurses?” The doctor screamed.

He slammed the wall to demonstrate his rage.

He was about to leave when I held him back. “Where the heck are you going?”

“What the heck is this? Let go of me,” he requested.

“I want to summon all the nurses to know who was on duty,” he explained.

I was ruthless!

I refused to let him go, knowing that he was the reason for Angela's escape.

If he hadn't hesitated when I called for her arrest, Angela would be sleeping behind bars already.

“Oh, come on, Tony.

You know I have nothing to do with this. I was only trying to protect the image of my hospital,” he claimed.

That was the lamest excuse I've ever heard. The excuse made me even more angry.

I wasn't conscious of my act anymore. And the next minute, I was already dragging the doctor's lab coat.

Someone might walk inside and conclude that I was going insane.

It took the joint efforts of Marcus and Officer Patrick to pull me away.

They did an impressive job because I was on the verge of ripping the doctor's skin apart.

“Fuck you, Doctor.

What makes you think the hospital's reputation isn't dented already?” I screamed my lungs out as I watched him leave.

I felt so stupid to see everything end that way. I thought I had everything under control, but apparently, I was wrong.

Marcus edged closer to me and placed his hands on my shoulder. “This isn't the way out.

We need to find Angela. I am pretty sure she must be planning to leave the country already.”

“Leaving the country,” the phrase rang inside my head like a bell.

Like a robot, I stood up from the bed immediately and walked out of the ward

They tried calling for my return, but I didn't respond.

I already had a direction.

The last thing I wanted for myself was a distraction.

As I stepped outside, I saw the doctor struggling with one of the nurses.

At that point, my instincts revealed that the nurse might turn out to be a crime suspect.

I wasn't wrong!

I knew my instinct didn't betray me when the doctor called my attention and disclosed that the nurse aided Angela's escape.

I was shocked.

I couldn't move.

I felt like apologizing to the doctor for the false accusations.

But after a second thought, I realized that the culprit wouldn't have been apprehended if I hadn't confronted him.

Suddenly, I regained myself as I sauntered to the doctor. “What did you just say? You mean this nurse aided Angela's escape?”

“Exactly what you heard. She told Angela about the arrest.

Angela paid her afterward if she would aid her escape.

The CCTV camera revealed everything,” the doctor explained extensively.

Before I could make my final verdict, the nurse's hands were already in cuffs, all thanks to Officer Patrick, who swung into immediate action.

He read my thoughts and knew what I wanted to say.

The nurse was dragged to the car like a common thief alongside Patrick and Marcus, while I stayed back with the doctor.

I realized that I had unfinished business with the doctor.

I turned around and looked away from the doctor while I prepared my apology speech.

I had hurt him deeply!

“You don't have to say a word. I thoroughly understood your rage.

I would do worse in your shoes,” the doctor broke the silence.

I was indeed stunned by his humility. He made me so emotional.

If I weren't brave like a lion, the whole hospital would have been drenched by my ocean of tears.

“Thank you so much for everything, doc. I'll always keep in touch,” I mumbled after we exchanged a handshake.

I got back to the car and sat in front.

I didn't want to get anywhere closer to the nurse to avoid doing something I would regret.

“So what's the next step?”

Marcus asked me.

“I'm heading home.

Just like you said, she may be planning to leave the country, and her traveling documents are in our bedroom,” I revealed.

“Wait, I'm coming with you,” Officer Patrick insisted.

“You certainly need a backup. Besides, I don't want you to get hurt.”

“He's right,” Marcus endorsed.

“I'll drive the criminal to the station myself. I'll keep you posted on any new developments,” Marcus added.

I was quiet for some time before I finally uttered, “That's fine. It sounds like a good idea.”

Marcus wished me the best of luck as he watched Officer Patrick and me head straight to my car.

He also urged me to tread with caution. According to him, Angela wasn't done with me yet.

I kind of believed him!

I won't be surprised if she starts plotting for revenge.

The journey back to my estate was indeed a crazy one.

I drove so fast as though I were auditioning for the Formula 1 car racing sport.

We stayed back inside the car for some minutes to relive the moment

We were careful enough to strategize and avoid loopholes.

“We are home now.

You'd stay behind me and take cover as we go inside.

The last I checked, I am the only trained person here,” Officer Patrick clarified.

As much as what he said sounded like a diss, he was still right.

Like detectives, we descended from the car straight to the entrance.

I was about to unlock from the outside when I noticed that the door was open.

I paused for a moment to think if I actually locked the door before I went to the hospital.

Even my domestic staff were quite aware that the house is always locked each time we are away.

As I was trying to rack my brain, I had a tiny voice saying, “Papa!”

I was disturbed!

The only person who calls me Papa is little Kelly!

I needed to be certain that I wasn't imagining things that weren't real.In a delicate situation like that, the last thing I'll consent to is jokes or pranks.“Of course, I did, Tony. You weren't the only one who heard the voice. It is safe to say that your ears lead you in the right direction. Let's listen to what the son of a bitch has to say,”Marcus replied.I was relieved by his utterances. It confirmed that I wasn't losing my mind after all.Patrick stepped forward. He stood before everyone to ensure he was closer to Sean than any of us. “Start talking now! This is your chance to make it right again. Tell us what you know about Angela's whereabouts. And don't you dare miss out on any details,” Patrick ordered Sean. For a moment, I was impressed by his moves. That was the only sensible thing that has been done over the last couple of hours. Are you starting to hear things that aren't real?” Patrick mocked me. He didn't think I was telling the truth. “Have you forgotten the reason we are here? Let's go inside quickly before she escapes,” he urged me, but I refused. I was resilient and focused on my instincts. “I might be old, but certainly not dumb or stupid. I knew what I heard. That was Kelly's voice,” I challenged Patrick.I didn't allow him to control my thoughts. I left the doorway and strolled around my mansion, trying to trace the voice I heard. “Papa, please come,”I heard the voice calling me for the second time. I traced the voice to the garage and saw Angela and Kelly seated inside the car. I tried to get closer to them, but she drove off. I didn't try to run after the car, knowing it would be pointless to do that. For the second consecut

I don't want to be the one to escalate your blood pressure,” The doctor retreated just when he was on the verge of disclosing my son's test results. It wasn't a question I found quite intriguing. But somehow, I was able to control my rage. “Really? Are we going to do this all day? Come on, Doctor. I am not interested in any of your jokes. Just hit the nail on the head.
