“K… Kev…” I stuttered as another clot of blood sputtered from my mouth.

“Open the gate,” I heard him order and someone rushed to open the gate.

He entered gently, and I fidgeted gently as he covered the space between us by bending beside me.

“Y… you… you are…” I groaned and grabbed my stomach again.

“Alive? Yeah,” he grinned.

He picked up the document beside me and then groaned, “That is why you should not have acted like you are all that, come on! All I needed you for was your fucking inheritance!” he yelled and I closed my eyes shut.

Bastard.

Devil!

He came to me four years ago and I thought he was all I needed. My shining armor, I had thought.

But… it was all for this?

This was why he had been licking my foot for the past years. This was why he had never angered me and had done all I wanted without any question.

“But, you had to ruin it by getting pregnant! I had not been adding birth control pills to your water for the past three years just for you to carry a fucking baby all of a sudden! What the hell were you thinking?”

“W… what?”

All these while that I had been running helter-skelter for a baby… this man had been the cause for my infertility?

“You forgot you were just a muse in my bigger plan. Are you stupid?!”

“W… why? Why…? I didn’t… I didn’t even… do anything… to you,” I sobbed quietly, the blood not stopping at all.

“But that’s it. That’s where it all ends now. You just need to stamp this, and then rest. Forever.”

He grabbed my hand closer to myself, and I tried as hard as I could to resist.

“S… stop… please…”

God…

I cried profusely with all the strength I had left in me as he successfully pulled my hand to himself, and then pressed my thumb on the fingerprint ink.

Afterward, he pressed it on the document while I whimpered.

“Now, my darling wife,” he breathed out and then dropped his hand on my hair.

“You should rest now. You have tried enough,” he said, and after a while, he stood up.

As my vision gradually turned blurry, I watched him walk out of the cold cell that I lay in and then shook my head slowly as my body started to give in to the paralysis that was rushing through me.

“P…please…” my eyes closed for a second and I opened them to look at him as he and Katherine laughed.

“Sorry bestie!” She laughed out loud again and I closed my eyes again.

“Yes sir,” I heard Kevin say, and I squinted my eyes open again.

“Yeah, it’s all executed now.”

“Yes, trust me!” He added with a laugh.

Who was he talking to?

I wondered as my eyes involuntarily closed again.

I had no strength to even lift a finger again and all I did was lay there, waiting for death to arrive and take me away.

But, why?

Why should I die?

I am a good person, why would this happen to me?

God…

“God, please…”

I mumbled with the final strength in me.

“Please… I… I don’t… want to die…’’ I stuttered as blood sputtered from my mouth again.

As my organs were on fire, and as if my stomach was going to rip apart, I could no longer move my mouth and all I just wished for was that the big guy up there would have mercy on me.

“Have a nice trip back to hell!” I heard Kevin’s already distant voice and their retreating footsteps.

And at that moment, I lay in acceptance, fully accepting the death that knocked at my door.

~~~~~
“Ms. Henderson!”
I gasped heavily as I felt a poke on my shoulder and then coughed out.
“Are you okay?” she asked me.
I grabbed my stomach with one hand and then dropped the other on my chest, breathing heavily.
“Do you need anything? Water?” she asked in a panicked tone.
“W… where am I?” I gasped as I looked around me.
This was…
“Mr. Davis law firm. Are you okay?” she answered as she dropped her hand on my shoulder.
I pushed her hand away and then looked around. I was truly at his law firm.
“What is happening?” I asked rather loudly, still confused.
“Mr. Davis will see you now,” she answered.
Mr. Davis… the lawyer?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
She answered with confusion evident in her face.
I swallowed the lump in my throat, and scurried away, panting.
What was going on?
I remember…
I remember what had just happened…
Just a moment ago, I was lying on that cold floor.
I still remember the feeling on the cold floor and the burn in my organs.
I still remember their faces in my head.
Their snickers. Contempt. Ridicule.
“I have been expecting you, Ms. Henderson!”
The voice of Mr. Davis rang into my ears as I entered the room fully and I gasped again.
“I should have come to you instead. I am sorry for making you come all the way here,” he said as I drew my brows together.
Why was I feeling deja vu?
I could swear all of this has happened before.
Have I truly died?
Is this the moment where they call ‘Your whole life flashing before your eyes right before you die.’?
“Come have a sit,” he ushered me in, and then he said again after I had settled down.
“Coffee or tea?” he asked and then instantly walked to the coffee machine.
At that moment, I raised a brow and then stared at the glass cup that was by his elbow.
“Fall…”
And in an instant, his back hand hit the cup and it fell, and then shattered to the ground.
“Fuck!” I screamed and jumped out of the chair.
“Ms. Lyra, it’s just a cup!” he exclaimed.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck! It fell!” I cried out and looked and looked around.
“What is today’s date?” I asked, spiraling out of control by looking around.
“Ms. Lyra, are you okay?”
“Fuck, what is the date?!”
This was too accurate to be just deja vu.
“Fifth of May, 2025,” he answered.
“M… may? 2025?” I shook my head in disbelief and then looked around to confirm my doubt.
If my memory is correct, this was just a week before my wedding with Kevin and I was supposed to go to the fitting shop right after I met with the lawyer.
“N… no way…” I kept looking around and I knew I was coming off as crazy to the man who looked at me.
And then my eyes dropped on the calendar that hung on the wall.
It was indeed the year 2025!
This was three years before everything that had just flashed through my eyes!
I had… traveled back in time?!
    #FLASHBACK#“Why did you call me here?”Mason asked, looking around at the ever-familiar surroundings that he was in.It was underground. And it had been five years already since he had left the underworld business.Being called over by his ex partner whom he used to run the business with, he had no choice but to honor him, and then settled on the chair in front of him, crossing his legs.“Is this how you greet your former partner? Just because you left this world doesn’t mean you cease to be one of ours.”“What do you want? You know for sure that I don’t wanna come here. I am just… saving your face, you get?”Xandro smiled and then scratched his chin where a long, thick scar settled.“I’ve got a job for you.”“Are you kidding me?”“I feel like you’re the only one who can handle this job perfectly. You’re still the best person our organization has ever created. It’s a shame you walked away.”“I told you I was done. Five years ago, I washed my hands off everything and started over aga
    “Sorry…” She sniffed, pulled back, and then wiped her tears with the back of her hands, literally not caring that she could ruin her makeup.“It’s alright, really,” she shook her head and then moved her hands from his grip.Two days ago, when Mason had talked to Mr. Jang about moving in with them, he was the happiest as if he had been waiting for the man to ask him.He would do anything to see her comfortable, which was why he had reached out to the man.He bored my eyes into her as she collected herself and then finally looked around in the room where they stood.“Are we sleeping together?” Her brow rose, like it was forbidden to even share a room.“This is your room,” he answered her.And she looked around again in awe.Of course, she would be wondering how he had managed to set up the room for her raise.Mason knew her so well.Even the tiniest bit of herself.He had gathered every intel that he could on her before the unfortunate incident happened.“Mine alone?” Her eyes lit up i
    The ride down to Mason’s mansion was quite peaceful, and silent as I had looked out the window all through, looking around while he pressed his phone.Before we left, Kirill and Kiara had walked us to the parking lot, and had promised to come see us again after we settled in fully.But, there was something else on my mind.I didn’t get introduced to anyone by Mason as his family or anything of such.The hall was unreasonably full. And I couldn’t help but wonder where the man had gathered them from.A few of them were from my workplace and some shareholders, but the rest? They were from Mason.The setting looked way too formal that I wondered if they knew it was a wedding that we were doing and not some award ceremony.They were all dressed in black. Even the women were dressed corporately.Except for Kiara who had worn a purple dress.I didn’t think it was necessary to bother about that but thinking back on it, I wanted to know why the settings were like that, so I glanced at the man
    MASON’S POV.Watching her walk down the aisle hand in hand with the butler, Mr Jang, a soft smile escaped my lips and I hurriedly swallowed it.It was too early for me to be showing any bit of affection or admiration for this woman.It was not even like I hadn’t.I cooked for her. Consoled her, and did everything to make sure she was okay.If that was not showing off affection, I do not know what else it was.I had no idea what the future held for this woman and me, and I knew it was best that I focused on my main purpose in her life.Finally, they got to where I stood, and the man looked me in the eyes, and I swear, I could feel the fear he was trying to mask with a smile.He lifted her hand and then dropped it on mine gently, and then swallowed hard.“Please, take care of her… please,” his voice shook like he was going to cry and I smiled softly at the man who really acted like he was sending his only child off.I took her hand in mine and then together, we walked to where the marri
    “You are so beautiful, oh my days!”Kiara shrieked as she returned to the room and I was fully dressed and made up.I raised my head to look at the woman and then smiled unconsciously.“Oh, how much you flatter me.”“If this were a contest, Lyra, you’d be bringing the cup home. Have you seen you?!” She exclaimed, and then turned around the swivel chair I sat on around and I looked at myself in the mirror again.I had seen my look already so why was she exaggerating?“You don’t believe me?”She pouted.“Of course, I do,” I shook my head and then looked at my dress.I was wearing a fully beaded wedding dress which was totally not what I had planned for but had turned out great for me.It looked much better than the dress I had worn for my wedding to Kevin.Everything felt so wrong.It was as though I was getting married the second time even though I had physically not been married before.“You make a beautiful bride, Lyra. I am so glad it is you who is ending up with Mason and not…” Sh
    MASON’S POV.“You are really pushing through with this marriage?”I raised my head as Kirill entered and I clasped my hands together.“You’re here. Your suit arrived already,” I picked up the packed suit and then pointed at the suit that laid on the bed.“Mason, it’s literally in two days. You know you can still cut it off. No one is gonna blame you.”“Do you really think a white suit is a nice idea? I don’t wanna stand out too much. She needs to be in the spotlight,” I ignored him and said as I scratched my jaw.“You’re doing this on purpose, are you not?”“And oh, I should give you the rings before you leave! You are the ring bearer, remember?”“Do you want to die, asshole?!”I breathed out, turned to look at him, and then snapped my brows together. “What?”“Why are you doing this?”“Whatever you mean by that?” I walked to the chair and then collapsed on it.“You know everything that I mean by that. Are you really going to marry her?”“Why not?”“You are going to marry someone you d
