Olivia sighed in exhaustion the moment she stepped out of the shower. She couldn’t believe what she had done, and to think she was owing him two thousand bucks.
She almost facepalmed. Her situation was very embarrassing. Her phone rang on the nightstand. Almost instantly, her heart began to beat very fast. “Is he the one calling?” Olivia thought as she glanced at her phone. Releasing a breath, Olivia walked towards the nightstand. She stared at the caller ID only to see that it was Felix's grandfather. She stared at her phone, her emotions were very much conflicted. Apart from her mother, Mr. Zachery was the only one who treated her like family. She simply did not have the heart to ignore his call. “Good morning Grandpa,” she said in a low tone. She sat on her bed awkwardly as she waited for his response. “Olivia, is everything okay? Felix called me this morning…he said you wanted to break up with him but he didn’t tell me what exactly happened,” Mr. Zachery stated. Even though his voice sounded calm, he was very worried. He knew that it was unlike Olivia to act that way. “Didn’t Felix tell you what he did Grandpa?” Olivia asked with a shaky voice. Even though she tried to forget what had happened, the searing pain she felt was still fresh in her mind. How he had the confidence to sleep and impregnate her step-sister while claiming to still be in love with her was mind-boggling. “That boy didn’t tell me a thing, you know what, come down to my mansion, I need you to explain everything to me in person,” Mr. Zachery said, his voice almost cracking due to old age. Olivia sighed. Mr. Zachery must have figured out the matter was too complicated to be discussed on the phone. “Okay Grandpa,” Olivia responded with a sigh, “I’ll be there in thirty minutes.” “Okay, make sure you come fast,” Mr. Zachery said with a tone filled with urgency. “Okay Grandpa,” Olivia responded with a sigh, “see you.” After bidding their goodbyes, she hung up. Releasing an exhausted sigh, Olivia stood up then walked into towards her wardrobe. She really did not want to visit Felix’s grandfather but she had no choice. If she really wanted to officially end their engagement, she needed to meet Mr. Zachery. She stared at the wardrobe, thankfully, her mother sent her clothes saving her the trouble of shopping for another new set of clothes. She hadn’t even gone to work yet. She immediately shook her head to get rid of her thoughts, she picked out a black gown. A smile formed on her lips. This was the perfect dress to wear for a battle of wits. It wasn’t going to be easy breaking the engagement without her father but she would. She didn’t need her father’s help. As long as her friend and her mother were behind her, she had no problem. *** “We have been expecting you, ma’am,” a middle-aged maid said with a welcoming smile. Olivia simply smiled in return. “Where is Grandpa?” She asked in curiosity. It was unlike him not to be sitting in the living room. The maid pointed up the stairs where Mr. Zachery's study was. “He’s in his study madam Olivia,” she replied with a small smile. Olivia nodded then she climbed up the stairs. After a few seconds, she reached the front of Mr. Zachery’s door. Olivia, raised her hands to knock only to hear Mr. Zachery shouting at someone. She heard the other person speak. Her mouth curled in disgust, the other person was Felix. Dismissing her feeling of disgust, Olivia knocked on the door. The study became silent. “Who is it?” Mr. Zachery asked. Olivia cleared her throat. “It’s me grandpa.” “Olivia, come in,” Mr. Zachery immediately said with an excited tone. Olivia opened the door then carefully shut the door behind her. Olivia frowned when she noticed Felix kneeling on the floor. Felix was looking at her with an apologetic gaze. “Olivia— “Save it,” Olivia interrupted with an eyeroll. Mr. Zachery sat on the couch across the room. He wore a black shirt and black pants. Mr. Zachery leaned on his walking stick and he looked annoyed. “Olivia dear, how are you,” Mr. Zachery said, he tried to smile but the smile did not reach his eyes. “I’m fine grandpa,” she responded with a slight smile. Olivia then sat down next to grandpa Zachery. “I have no idea what this boy has done to you, he said he got someone pregnant but my gut tells me it’s more than that…tell me, child, what exactly happened?” Felix’s grandfather asked as he held both my hands. Olivia stared at Felix for a short moment before telling Mr. Zachery the whole isssue. “I caught him in bed with my half sister, it turns out she’s pregnant for him and she wants to marry him…I can’t continue with this engagement grandfather, I honestly can’t.” She said shaking her head. “I can explain,” Felix said but Mr. Zachery glared at him which made him shut his mouth. “Leave us, Felix,” Mr. Zachery said as he glared at his grandson. Felix opened his mouth to argue but one look at his grandfather made him keep his mouth shut. Sighing in exhaustion, Felix stood up dejectedly and left his grandfather’s study. Olivia sighed in relief when she noticed he left. She really wanted nothing to do with that man. “I’m so sorry that my grandson did that to you my dear, I thought you two were a match made in heaven but it turns out I am so wrong,” Mr. Zachery said as he stared at Olivia, “don’t worry, I’ll make him pay for what he had done to you.” Olivia smiled wryly, “Thank you grandpa, I didn’t expect the two people I trust to betray me like that, I came here because I want to officially break up our enagagement, since my sister is pregnant for him, she should be engaged to him instead.” “Have you informed your family about what your half sister has done,” Mr. Zachery said with grunt, “I always warned you to be careful of her.” “Everyone warned me, but I guess I was a fool,” she respond with a tired sigh, “my father would probably want me to marry him and take Valentina’s child as my own but I can’t do it, I just can’t do it.” Mr. Zachery stared at Olivia with a hint of pity swirling in his eyes, “can you do me a favor, Olivia,” Olivia raised her to look at Felix grandfather, “and what might that favor be sir,” “My birthday is coming up ina month time, please pretend to be with Felix until my birthday, there’s a reason why,” he said holding Olivia’s hand. “But grandpa— “Olivia, please…I don’t care who you are during this duration but dissolving this engagement suddenly would affect the company stocks,” Mr. Zachery said, “and during that time I would make sure to discipline him but please wait.” Olivia signed as she stared at Mr.zachery. If she wasn’t enagaged in her father’s company she would have rejected him outright. What felix grandfather said was the truth. Both companies stock might be affected. Forcing a smile on her lips, she agreed with him. Even though she agreed, Olivia vowed to make Felix’s life miserable.Alex stared at the men who defended Valentina in irritation, these men claimed to be a formidable force in the business world yet they couldn’t see the through the tricks of the woman they defended. He shook his head, they were still wet behind the ears.“What do you mean she almost killed Olivia,” one of the men asked in shock, “ I find it quite unbelievable, Valentina would never hurt a fly.”Olivia burst into laughter, “I wonder what you would think when I tell you what my sister has been up to for the past few days.”Olivia could tell them that her sister had been sleeping with Felix but she didn’t, now was not the right time to expose such a big secret.“I don’t want to hear it, you are framing her again,” another one of the men said. Alex raised an eyebrow when he noticed that one of the three men just watched them bantering. The man was a red head and he did nothing to defend the so called saintess, in fact, the red head look bored out of his mind.“Your so called saintess, fed
“I thought I told you I quit,” Alex responded as he briefly glanced at Olivia. She stared at him with an emotion he couldn’t recognize then she looked away.Alex smirked, he knew she was suspicious and he was in no mood to dispel her suspicions. The truth was, he didn’t become Olivia’s secretary just because he wanted to be with her at all times. If he wanted to stay with her then he would have arranged other means rather than becoming her secretary. The thing was Olivia’s father, Mr. Richard Hugo, was treading in murky waters. A batch of his weapons had been stolen from his company and then a counterfeit product turned up.He would have ignored it if the counterfeit weapons were useful but any soldier or person who used them was doomed to die.The weapon was weak, when the gun was fired, the bullet would bounce back therefore killing the owner of the weapon. What was worse was, they sold the weapons under the pretense that his company made them.He suspected that Mr. Hugo was just
Olivia stared at Alex through the office binders. Alex was a distraction. She placed her hands in between her palms with a groan. How could he look so hot in his suit and to think he wore golden rimmed glasses.Olivia raised her head, she frowned when she saw a lady talking to Alex. She raised an eyebrow in surprise, she recognized that lady.It was Lia. Lia wasn’t a bad person but she was just too blunt and straightforward. Alex raised his head to look at Lia, his lips curved into a small smile.Olivia immediately stood up. Picking up her iPad from the executive desk, she walked out of the office.“Alex we have a meeting to attend to,” Olivia said the moment she stopped in front of his desk. She noticed that Alex lips had curved into a loop sided grin. She arched an eyebrow, it looked like he was studying her every move. What on earth is he thinking?Olivia thought as she stared at him thoughtfully,“Okay boss,” Alex said, then he stood up. He turned to Lia who watched their interact
Olivia stared at Alex like he had muttered complete nonsense, her mouth hung open as she tried to comprehend what he had just said.“What did you say?” Olivia asked as she stared at Alex with a confused expression.“I said I’m your new secretary” Alex repeated as he stared at Olivia with an amused grin.“My office now,” Olivia said as she spun around and hastily walked towards her office.“Good morning Miss Olivia,” Everyone in the office greeted. Olivia simply dismissed them with a wave. Alex followed Olivia with a small grin, he sincerely wondered what she wanted to say to him. Would she tell him to quit his job? He shook his head, there was no way he was going to quit.“You are joking right?” Olivia asked the moment she locked the door behind her. Alex shook his head.“I’m dressed in a suit, do you really think I would dress up like this just to prank you?’ Alex asked with an eyebrow raised. Olivia nodded, he was right.“Okay since you work as my secretary, just pretend we just me
Jared immediately went down on his knees, he couldn’t go to Area Dars, that place was a war zone. Anything could kill him. He could get shot by a stray bullet or worse he might get bombed. Jared shivered at the thought of getting bombed, he hadn’t even met the girl of his dreams. He was too young to die.“I was just talking nonsense boss, of course you know what is best for the company,” Jared pleaded. Alex simply stared as his secretary in amusement, a self satisfied smile tugged at his mouth.“Apology accepted, is there a way to make me her assistant?” Alex asked as he gazed at his secretary.Jared sat on the couch then he began to work on the laptop on with him, “I’m not sure, according to what I see here, her secretary did resign but they’ve already chosen a candidate.”Alex scrunched up in thought his face in thought, lips pursed, he asked. “I don’t care just make me her secretary by any means necessary.”“But sir-“Jared, that was not a request, it was an order,” Alex stated as
Alexander stared at the picture of Olivia on his laptop. Apparently, she had just resumed work and the daily times decided to make that a major news. He checked his phone for the umpeenth time as he wondered if that was why she left his message on read. Nobody has ever left his message read…ever. As Alexander plunged deep into his thoughts, a wet snout rubbed his toe. “Stop it, Ralph,” Alexander cautioned as he glared at his tiger who sat beneath his feet. His tiger growled in annoyance. The tiger couldn’t simply understand why its owner didn’t have time for him these past few days. Alex sighed then patiently began to massage the belly of his tiger, “I know you want me to play with you Ralph but I don’t have time, I’m chasing someone right now…don’t worry you’ld see her soon.” As if understanding his statement, the white furred tiger with black stripes rolled away from its owner then went to play with its squishy toy. Suddenly, Alex’s phone rang. He glanced at his phone only to
