POV: Lucien Kael (ML)

“She really doesn’t know?” I muttered to myself, pacing by the bar, with my drink in hand.

It was almost funny... A full-blooded Omega living in the middle of human society... with no idea who she was... No idea what was coming. And yet... that scent...Her scent...

I sat down, rubbing my temples.

“What the hell are you?” I whispered to the empty room. My wolf stirred under inside me. It wasn’t just her scent...it was her heat. The moment I’d touched her skin, everything had gone hot. My control slipped, and it took everything in me not to claim her right then.

Was she my mate?

It wasn’t supposed to happen like this, ot with a stranger,  not with a human...well, half-human, or a werewolf that thinks she's human apparently.

But she was... beautiful. She wasn't just pretty, she was breathtaking. Every curve, every sound, even her panic... it lit something in me. It made me want to protect her or ruin her.... Maybe both.

I stood  up and grabbed my phone. This wasn’t just my problem anymore. I hit a private number, it was Top security.

Lucien Kael,” An older male voice answered. He was One of the Alpha Elders.

“We need an emergency meeting. Tonight,” I said.

“What for?”

“I found something. Or rather Someone.”

“Go on...the Elders are gathered together right now...I'll put you on speaker.” He said.

“She lives among the humans but doesn't know she's an Omega.”

He paused on the phone for a while, then spoke. “That’s impossible.”

“It's very real and true. I experienced it one on one. She doesn’t know it...Thinks she’s human...But I saw it....I felt it....Her scent... She's even in heat, her first heat I suppose."

The line went quiet for a moment then: “Where is she?” Another Male Elder spoke.

“Loose...In the city...among the humans.”

“Then watch her, closely. If she shows signs of turning on us...kill her.”

“She hasn’t turned yet,” I said.

“Don’t wait too long.”

Another voice came onto the line. A woman with a cold voice. “If she talks to anyone about wolves... we’ll handle it. I’ll call the commissioner and have her unit dissolved quietly.”

I nodded. “Understood.”

“And Lucien...do not tell your warriors or anyone...not yet.” Then the call ended.

I closed my eyes and leaned back. Don’t get involved, I told myself. But I couldn’t stop thinking about her.

That trembling voice...the way she begged me not to kiss her...the way her body burned under mine when I laid her down. I slipped for just a second... felt her under me but She didn’t even know what she was doing to me.

I wanted her...badly. No, my wolf wanted her. It's basically the same thing.

Later that night, I stood on a rooftop, across the street from her apartment building. The lights were off in her window. She was home but hiding. Probably still afraid.

But she had taken the suppressants. That was a good sign. Still... I could smell her.

My Beta warrior, Ayla, stepped beside me. “You’re watching her? The way you're looking at her like you are lustful? ”

I didn’t respond to her, which she always disliked.

“She saw the rogue...she saw you. So why isn’t she dead?”

I turned slowly. “Because the Elders said not yet.”

She narrowed her eyes. “Since when do you follow rules like a good little wolf?”

I didn’t answer, she already knew. But then she stepped closer, too close..into my personal space. “You know I’d never question you, Lucien...Never betray you...Not like her.”

“She hasn’t betrayed anyone,” I said flatly.

Ayla smiled bitterly. “Not yet.”

She laid a hand on my chest. “You don’t need her...you’ve always had me.”

I pulled away, not harsh but final. “Ayla,” I said quietly. “Don’t.”

She looked down. Hurt flashed across her face, quick like a blink. “Right...You know Lucien for someone who has been by your side all these years, loving you, you don't ever reciprocate or show your warm side to me.”

"Why should I?" I replied.

"Well...even if you don't...I already told you...I don't mind you using me to please yourself...I would gladly do it." She added.

I stood up and looked at her. "Ayla...you are a very pretty and attractive lady, you should find someone better for yourself. I'm not worth it."

"I don't want anybody else...I want you...only you. I'm not complaining. You can be a douchebag to me, I won't care as long as you're mine."

"Ayla, please save yourself the stress. My answer is no." I stepped closer, towering over her. My hands brushed her hair slightly. I could notice her body respond to even that slight touch. I always knew she had feelings for me but I couldn't be a douche bag to her, my fellow warrior and my Beta.

"I need a scent that attracts me for me to mate you." I said, knowing it would be hard for her to accomplish. "If you were in heat, an omega...I would have claimed you long time ago."

She angrily hit my hand off her face and stepped back, pouting. “Just tell me you don't want anything to do with me." She then looked at Seraphina's direction and said. "For a human, she does have a nice scent, but I can smell trouble  better.”

I didn’t respond because she was right.

But I still couldn’t look away from that dark window, the moon throwing light over her, twisting and turning.

She needed someone to mate, and that person was me. Yet, she refused to accept reality. She needed to accept it fast cause I was loosing it.

“Excuse me?” I sputtered, still holding my burning cheek. “How dare you?”The woman turned around, her heels clicking hard on the floor as she marched towards me. Her glare sliced right through me. “What did you just say?”I straightened, feeling my anger boil over the fear. “I said...how dare you slap me when it was your son...your precious son...who was pinning me to the wall like some deranged animal?”Her eyes narrowed. “Deranged animal? My son? An animal? Watch your tongue, little girl.”“No, you watch yours!” My fists clenched at my sides. “You barge in here, dragging him out like some soap opera villain, and then have the nerve to slap me like I’m the one who begged him to kiss me? Are you serious right now?”Her nostrils flared. “You must not know who I am.”“I don’t care who you are!” I shouted, my voice cracking. “What gives you the right to hit me?”Her hand shot up again, faster this time, aiming for another slap. I braced myself but the slap never landed.A firm hand caug

“You’re useless,” Dax muttered, slamming yet another stack of files onto my desk. “How can someone be this slow?”I gritted my teeth and rolled my eyes. “Maybe if you’d explain what half these abbreviations mean...”“Figure it out,” he snapped, not even looking at me. “You want to work here? You swim or you drown.”I groaned, flipping through the file he just tossed at me. My eyes drifted to his desk again, looking at that calendar... That circled date. The 19th....Full moon.Something about it felt creepy. Was there going to be a wolf hunt or something like that where they kill a massive number of humans?I glanced at him, then back at the calendar. Should I ask?I cleared my throat. “Hey…Dax?”“What?”I hesitated. “What’s going on…on the 19th? Why’s it circled?”He froze. For the first time since I’d known him, he actually stopped moving. His fingers stayed on the paper, his entire body tense like I’d just hit a nerve.“That’s none of your business.”“It kind of feels like my busine
