Chapter 2

At the wedding party, Riley was wearing a lace bodice with an off-the-shoulder neckline and a sweetheart neckline on the lining. Scalloped along the neckline and dropped around the waist. Bruce was wearing an Armani black suit and a nice shirt, he was in a wheelchair and his face was covered, so no one could see him. The few guests that they invited were excited, they danced and drank the whole night. Only the bride and groom sat. James Knight raised his glass and toasted in the newlywed's honor. He was happy that his son finally was wed to a nice and beautiful girl, a girl of a decent family. When the wedding was done, and all the guests left, Bruce turned to Riley and with an angry tone in his voice said.

- I will go to my apartment, I am tired, and you will be taken to the mansion I bought for you. 

- What about you? Aren't you coming there? Riley asked

- It is none of your business when I have the time I will come and visit you, but as I said tonight I am tired and I want to rest.

He told his bodyguard to take him away. She was surprised by the way he spoke to her, but at the same time relieved, she did not have to be with or to see him. She could finally be alone and try to relax. Her father came near her and spoke:

- Riley we will leave now. Where is my son-in-law I want to say goodbye.

- Daddy he left,

- Why? Her father asked her

- He was tired and did not feel okay, but I will pass your regards to him. Riley said

- Alright - her father said with a surprised tone in his voice and continued: - I understand if he was tired he should rest, you should go to him.

- I will, I just wanted to say goodbye to all the guests. It is not polite for both of us to leave. Riley answered very quickly

- Of course honey. Her father said, kissed her on the cheek and left.

After arriving at the mansion, the maid opened the door, greeted her, and took her to her room. It was not until the sky was dark, that the door was opened. Riley turned and saw a tall man walking in. He closed the door with his backhand and turned on the light in the room. At a glance, she was stunned. It’s not that the man is ugly and terrible, but he is handsome. He had black hair and green eyes. His face was perfect, like a finely crafted work of art, exceptionally handsome. The dark suit wrapped around his upright body, and a pair of long legs, and he quickly walked up to her. He looked at Riley for a few seconds, and twisted his brows slightly, 

- You are nice. - he said

In the calm tone, no extra emotions could be distinguished.

Riley regained her senses, she didn’t care much about him, she just looked at him warily, 

- Who are you? - she asked

His voice was deep, 

- You don’t know your husband's family?

As he got closer, Riley shuddered with the bitter breath coming over her face. The powerful aura oppressed her slightly, but she still straightened her back, 

Of course, I do! They were at the wedding. - she said

When Bruce heard the words, the sharpness in his eyes gradually converged, and then a trace of clarity flashed. It seemed that she was another woman who believed the rumors. Married to a man who was “ugly in a wheelchair and impotent”, her expression seemed too calm, and her calmness made him interested. He curled his lips and smiled pretentiously.

- It turned out he is my cousin. I am Leonardo Bruce’s cousin. On the wedding night, I guess you don’t want to guard a crippled man. - he said

He deliberately aggravated the word “crippled man”, with a low ending, with a hint of flirting. The man deliberately approached her, and the bitter breath became stronger. Riley moved aside uncomfortably, and after a short period of doubt, she believed his words. After all, the mansion is not something ordinary people can come in. 

He is your cousin, please don’t say that about him. - she pleaded

Riley felt a sense of sympathy in her heart. Even if the Knight family is a top-notch giant, he must have had a hard time in these years. A flash of surprise flashed across Bruce’s green eyes, he had no idea that this woman would say such a thing. He couldn’t help but look at her again.

A dark light flashed in Bruce’s eyes, and he violently reached out and pushed Riley onto the bed, his look was contemptuous and malicious.

- There is no one else here, you don’t have to pretend, if you have grown like this you must be a virgin, I will take it as a good thing to satisfy you. - he said

After speaking, he directly reached into her clothes. The delicate touch is almost addictive.

SLAP!

Riley slapped his face.

- Do not think that others are as nasty as you. Before your cousin comes, get out immediately, and I will assume that nothing happened.

Although she tried to stay calm, her trembling hands betrayed her. He stood up, trimmed his shirt, and gave her a cold glance, 

- You continue to wait for that crippled person here, but he will never come. He said

It wasn’t until the door was closed that Riley’s nerves relaxed slightly. Outside of the room. The bodyguards and Tom saw the red mark on Bruce’s face, and said, 

- Sir, your face…

Bruce touched his face and said blankly, 

- I was hit by the door.

- What door can knock five fingerprints on the face? Tom asked with a smile on his face

Bruce looked at him with a deadly glare and did not say a word. At that moment Tom knew that his boss found himself a good match. Tom handed him a document. It said Riley on it.

- Is this all? - Bruce asked

- Yes sir, all the information about your wife. Tom said

- Is there something interesting I should know? He asked him

- She was engaged with Erick Marshall, from Chicago. But she left him for you. I can not know if she found out that he was cheating her with her stepsister and that is why she left him. Tom said.

- With her stepsister? - Bruce was surprised

- Yes sir. There are a few photos of them, of her family... Tom spoke

- Good job Tom.  Bruce thanked him

- Thank you, sir. Tom said

Early the next morning. Riley, woke up suddenly, only to realize that it was already dawn. Bruce did not come home last night. She felt a little loose and a little heavy. This feeling was like having a knife hanging on her head, which could not be cut off, which always made her fearful. After Riley washed and went downstairs, a maid came over to take her to the dining room. The dining room and the kitchen are close, and as soon as she entered, she just saw a tall figure coming out of the kitchen carrying breakfast. After seeing that the man was “Leonardo” ( Bruce was pretending to be someone else to see her true self), she turned around and wanted to leave, but unexpectedly the man had already spoken: 

- Cousin, good morning.

His voice is magnetic, but it’s very light. Riley was disgusted when she saw him and really didn’t know what this cousin was doing every day at his cousin’s house.

- Morning. she said. 

Riley turned toward the maid and asked:

- Is Bruce here?

- No madam he did not come home last night. The maid said

She nodded her head to express understanding.

- Is there a phone that I can use? She asked the maid

- Why do you need it? Bruce / Leonardo asked.

- I want you to give me his phone, so I can call him. Riley answered him.

- What? You don't have his number? That is strange. He is your husband after all.  he said.

- I did not have the time to ask him yesterday. she replied.

- Well I will tell his assistant Tom to give it to you when I see him. Bruce said.

- Don't you have it? Riley asked

- No sorry. I do not. I do not need it.

- Why? - Riley asked.

- I did not need it until now. He was always home when I needed to talk to him, or I would  tell to Tom and he would transfer. He said and continued: - Now eat.

When they finished breakfast she wanted to go and visit her family so she asked him:

- Why? He asked her

- I want to go back to my house to get something. I did not bring a lot of clothes. Riley said

- I will take you. No problem. Bruce said

Bruce took Riley to her home. While they were driving he leaned against her ear and said:

- This feeling I have for my cousin is pretty good…

She was afraid that he would do something, so she had to get herself out of the car. In the quiet car, Riley buckled on the seat belt and looked ahead without giving “Leonardo” an extra look. When Bruce saw her like this, interest flashed in his green eyes. This wife of his is interesting and decent. In the beginning, he just wanted to tease her and see if she married him for his money, but now he wanted to continue to play the game and find out more about her.
