Reya’s POV
Tris? My mind snapped to the name she called him.
Tris? He never so much as allowed me to utter his name with my mouth and she already got a pet name for him? To me, he was always Alpha or Lycan Tristan.
Lycan Tristan smiled, his eyes twinkling with pure love for her as his name rolled off her tongue. In the two years that we were together, he never so much as looked at me except the days when he took my body.
But the way he looked at her… like she was the only thing that existed in his world.
“Ah… Chloe. This is my mate I told you about.” He said the word mate as if it left a bitter taste in his mouth. Chloe’s face fell and I noticed that keeping up her smile was a chore. I also noticed that he didn’t bother introducing her to me.
“Why are you here?” he snapped and I blinked away my disappointment. I shouldn’t be disappointed; maybe I had always known that this day would come. I just never thought it would be so quick.
“Go on, spit it out. You asked to see me?” he talked as though he couldn’t stand the sight of me. He wasn’t bothered by my tears neither did he feel sorry for me or the fact that he was the cause of all the pain I was feeling.
He didn’t care. He hated me.
“Why won’t you sign the papers? Or would you rather I sign on your behalf?” Lycan Tristan seethed his near brewing like fire.
I glanced at the fair lady who had a pleased smile on her face. When she felt my eyes on her, she smirked and slipped her hands into Lycan Tristan’s. He took it and placed a soft kiss on her knuckles.
All the while, her eyes were on me.
I knew what she was doing. She was marking her territory, laying claim to her man and letting me know that I meant nothing to him. I had nothing to fight for.
“How long have you two being together?” I heard myself asking, mentally berating myself as soon as the question rolled off my tongue.
Lycan Tristan raised his brows like he couldn’t believe I was really asking him a question. To be honest, I didn’t believe myself either.
“What does it matter?” he snapped. “Whether I’ve been with her for twenty tears or ten years or I just met her yesterday, it had nothing to do with you. Just sign the goddamn papers and get out of my sight. I’m tired of looking at an eyesore like you!”
My heart stuttered to a stop. In all our years of being together, this was the most words he said to me and it had to be an insult. Chloe stepped forward with a hint of amusement on her face.
“Maybe you should tell her,” She suggested to Lycan Tristan. “Maybe it will help letting go easier for her.”
“Tell me what?” confusion creased my features and my eyes darted from Lycan Tristan’s face to Chloe’s. For a second, Lycan Tristan hesitated. His eyes flashed with an emotion I couldn’t read before it faded completely.
“Chloe, I don’t think that’s –”
“You should,” she pushed, cutting him off which shocked me more than the fact that she gave him a pet name. She just interrupted a Lycan while he was speaking and he wasn’t going to do anything about it?
“Clearly, she’s still holding on to you as you can see. It will help her let go.” She turned to me, smiling as she took one step closer. 'Unless you tell her, I will.”
“No!” Lycan Tristan snapped, moving to stop her but she was already speaking.
“Your Lycan and mate traded you to Alpha Wyvern… for me.”
I glanced up at Lycan Tristan, hoping and given him a chance to deny her claims. To tell me she was lying but his mouth was clamped shut. He looked at me with no iota of remorse whatsoever and even went as far as glowering.
I felt my world collapse in itself.
My jaw clenched and my fist tightened, just then, my mind snapped to the paper that was still in my hands.
If he went this far to get rid of me just because of her, then I should give him what he wanted.
He must really love her.
Gulping down my anger, I placed the paper on his desk and scribbled my signature into it. I said nothing afterwards. Words couldn’t descried the things I felt inside, and I was sure if I tried to speak, I’d only end up breaking down, so I clamped my mouth shut as well.
My gaze lingered on his handsome face – the face which I had fallen for the first time I laid eyes on him – and I took a step back and inhaled deeply. Letting him go was harder than I thought.
Even though he had broken me in many ways, I was surprised to realize that I still felt something for this unfeeling man.
But no more. I will burn those feelings and let him go. I and he are over.
Steeling my nerves, I let out the words with a slow exhale. “I, Brianna Reya Hunter, reject you, Lycan Tristan –”
“Stop!” Lycan Tristan yelled, the veins in his neck bobbing outward. I jumped backward, the words dying on my lips instantly. “Stop right there.”
I frowned. What? Was he angry? Did I make a mistake? Was I supposed to say Alpha instead of Lycan? Maybe I mixed up his titles. I didn't know much about him, so how was I supposed to know which title he preferred? “How dare you reject me?’ he growled, surprising me even more. He took threatening steps towards me, looking like the devil in designers. That was if the devil could even be as handsome and hot as he was.
I shook my head, expelling the thoughts. Seriously? I was in this situation and that was what I was thinking about?
“How dare you try to break the bond between us, mate!” he growled again and my limbs shook.
“I – I thought that was what you wanted?” I asked with a shaky voice. I mean, he annulled our union and sold me to this Alpha – I had already forgotten his name. Didn't that amount to what I thought? "Who are you to decide what I want, or even ask the question?” he grated in my face - I felt cold up my spine, as if I'd drenched myself in ice water.
What was he telling me?
"Guards!" he yelled and the two men standing outside his office rushed in. “Get this insolent woman out of my sight and make sure she stays in the prison room till Alpha Wyvern returns.”
I was sure the guards could feel his anger in their bones even though it was directed at me.
“And let me warn you,” he added, just as the guards grabbed me roughly. “If she escapes, I will have your heads.”
“Yes, Alpha.” The guards answered, dragging me unceremoniously from the room even when I was not struggling with them. I didn’t spare him another glance as he went back to Chloe but my mind was a muddled mess.
When I was tossed right back into the windowless prison, I realized I was no longer Lycan Tristan’s mate or Luna, but now his most hated and maybe, most glorified prisoner.
Reya's POV. It’s only just dawn, but I can sense the change in the air like a storm is stirring. Every announcement is more rebellious than the last, with news spread like a fire hose through whispers and secret messages.” Despite my initial assumptions, the words I heard are now coming through in smaller groups of rebels rallying behind me instead of the King. Why? It shouldn't surprise me. The feeling is not that the cracks beneath my feet are becoming more noticeable, ready to swallow everything up. But it does. Holding the pendant, I'm confined to my private space in another room. It serves as an essential possession. The worn surface remains in my mind as I gaze upon it, reliving the memories of hopelessness, heartache, and the struggle to recover myself. They're calling me Queen now. I am met with a pale smile, bitter and fierce. I'm not interested in being a mere ruler, but rather in having something greater to offer. My goal is to eliminate the situation where my offspring
Lycan Xander’s POVStanding in the middle of the war room, I watch the shadows dance across the stone walls. I tonight face the most important decision of my reign, one that might rip my heart apart or permanently solidify my leadership.Rey walks in as the door opens softly; her face combines determination with uncertainty. She is carrying herself with the confidence of a lady who understands she will be tested more than ever.I see, though, the uncertainty flickering—and that drives my will.I gently break the silence with the words "Reya."As I call on every bit of patience I possess, my voice is forceful yet kind. “You fought so hard to stay free, to determine your own path. But I have to offer you this option…one that will shape your future. Her eyes are wary yet curious, locked on mine."What is this?" she cautiously wonders.Closing the distance between us, I inch closer; my voice drops to a hush filled of unsaid promise and threat."You know I have been watching over you from
Tristian’s POVStepping into the calm seclusion of my office, I hear only the gentle hum of the pack's territory outside the walls. For hours, I've been sitting in silence waiting for the moment when I can finally be honest, not just with Reya but also with myself. The door bursts open abruptly and there she is. Reya. Her face shows something softer….despair….along with anger and suffering. She is waiting for me to say anything; like she is aware I have truths buried deep.I inhale slowly."I owe you answers," I start, voice weak but stable. More than you can envision."She waits to respond. Her mind is apprehensive, taut. Afraid of what would result if she really knew, she is every cause I have worked so hard to shield her from the truth.I cannot, though, hide it much more.“it is about Chloe”Her eyes tighten. “You mean your ex? Or your present obsession?”A sour smile tugs at my lips. "Both." But mostly Chloe's manipulation. She frowns. "What about her?"I draw closer, my voice so
Reya’s POV It was a strange night, and I found myself crouched behind the crumbling wall of an abandoned warehouse in the outer edge of Mooncrest. Shadows against me, heavy and stinging, every sound in my head amplified. With my heart pounding loudly, I clasped my phone tightly, worried that it might disturb me. My only option was to capture the recordings in secret and use them as proof. I was unsure of how long I could remain concealed; the threat being too much to handle. While peering through the hole in the wreckage, I observed them. Two shadowy figures surrounded by a flickering lantern, engaged in conversation. The speaker urged for the preparation of borders. If we don't act now, bloodshed will be inevitable. I could hear the voice, that sour voice that made me feel cold. Mooncrest had been guarded by Lycan Xander, the mysterious Lycan king who was always out of reach. Why did this happen? The smaller, yet equally threatening figure responded, "What about the hybrids?" T
Reya’s POV There was the smell of rain and blood -- a storm that was coming, both inside and out. With the moon shining through the forest's shadowy pathways, I held tightly TO Alpha Tristan' arm as we hurried through its canopy like sharp silver blades. The sound of my heart racing inside me made it seem like I was trying to escape the cage of mine. Alpha Tristan held my arm in both hands tightly with frozen blue eyes staring ahead, scanning and calculating. Previously, I had only witnessed his frigid nature and unwavering determination. I saw something else tonight, a shadow of the pain I felt.'". A common pain that had been so long ago. His voice was a low, tension-filled, almost whispered tone. Was this appropriate? Rather than the dominant Alpha I had encountered, it was a man on the brink of danger. I sobbed and swallowed my growing fear. We had no choice. Myra was gone, but her fate remained as poisonous as the wind. Dexter was still present, the mastermind behind the chao
Reya's POVThe Blood Moon bled into the night sky, a crimson omen casting its glow across the sacred field of the ancients. The ground pulsed beneath my feet—alive, angry, ancient. All around me, wolves gathered in tense silence, forming a circle wide enough to hold centuries of pain and power.I stood barefoot in the dirt, head high, body trembling—not from fear, but from the storm caged inside me.Across from me, Myra approached with slow, deliberate steps. She wore war leathers painted in ash and blood, the mark of the rogue queen etched across her chest like a curse. Her eyes—once kind—now blazed with bitterness."You came alone," she said."I didn’t need an army," I replied, my voice sharper than steel. "Only justice."She laughed. “Justice? You think challenging me will fix what you broke?”I stepped forward. “No. But it will end what you started.”Gasps rippled through the circle. Somewhere behind me, I heard s Alpha Tristan growl. The Lycan King stood at the edge of the field,
