Married To The Mafia King, Pregnant With His Heir

First-Person POVDark RomanceFast-Paced PlotMafiaPossessiveProtectiveBetrayalSecond ChancePregnant
They sold me before I even knew I was for sale. My father owed the Rossi family a debt he couldn’t pay, and I was the only currency worth enough to save him. By sundown the next day, I was married to Damiano Rossi in a chapel full of armed men, his hand around mine, his voice low enough for only me to hear when he told me I belonged to him now. The estate I moved into isn’t a home. It’s a cage dressed up in marble and gold. Every wife before me disappeared behind these walls and never came out again. And my husband never bothers locking a single door, because he doesn’t need to lock away something he already owns. I thought surviving him would be the hardest part. I was wrong. A rival family believes my blood still owes them a debt written in violence, not vows. A man from my mother’s past resurfaces with a fortune built for exactly this moment, and a claim on me I never knew existed. And somewhere underneath Damiano’s cruelty is a man who took a bullet for me before he ever admitted he wanted me at all. I told myself I would never fall for the man who stole my choice. I was wrong about that too. Then I found out I was carrying his child. There’s no running from a war. There’s no running from a husband who owns half the city. And there’s no running from the one thing I never expected to feel for him.

Chapter: 9. An Uneasy Truce
Damiano left the room without another word after that, and I stood there for a long time after the door clicked shut, my palm pressed flat against my own collarbone as if I could slow my heartbeat down by force.I didn’t see him again until dinner, and when I came downstairs, I found the dining room empty of staff, the long table set for two rather than the formal arrangement I’d grown used to since arriving.“I told them we’d manage tonight,” Damiano said, already seated, a bottle of wine open between us that he hadn’t poured yet.“Manage,” I repeated, taking the seat across from him because standing felt like making a point I no longer had the energy to make. “Is that what we’re calling it now.”Something almost like the ghost of amusement crossed his face, there and gone the way most of his expressions seemed to be.“We haven’t had a conversation that wasn’t about rules or bullets,” he said. “I thought we might try one.”I studied him across the candlelight, the scar along his jaw

Chapter: 8. The Real Betrayal
Isabella The words sat between us in that small room like something already collapsing.“What do you mean, some of it was yours,” I said, my voice coming out slower than I felt, careful in the way you handle something you already suspect might break in your hands.Marco’s eyes wouldn’t meet mine anymore. “I borrowed money from the Rossi family two years ago. A business investment that failed. I couldn’t pay it back, and the interest kept growing until it became something I couldn’t outrun.”“And you never told me,” I said.“I was ashamed,” he said. “I kept thinking I’d find a way to fix it before it became your problem.”“But it did become my problem,” I said, my voice rising now despite myself. “It became the whole of my problem.”“When your father came to me asking for help with his own debt, I panicked,” Marco said. “I went to Damiano’s people myself. I told them I had a way to settle both debts at once, mine and your father’s, if they were willing to consider a different kind of

Chapter: 7. Marco’s Visit
Isabella POVThe estate had barely finished cleaning up the blood by the time Enzo found me on the terrace two days later, his expression careful in a way that told me whatever he was about to say wouldn’t be simple.“There’s someone at the front gate asking for you,” he said. “He says his name is Marco.”My stomach dropped in a way that had nothing to do with fear and everything to do with the particular ache of hearing a name I had spent every waking hour trying not to think about.“Tell him to leave,” I said, though the words came out less certain than I meant them to.“Damiano already knows he’s there,” Enzo said. “He said the decision is yours.”That surprised me more than Marco’s arrival had. I had expected Damiano to have him turned away before he’d even finished parking, some display of ownership dressed up as protection. Instead he was leaving the door open, and something about that felt more unsettling than a flat refusal would have.I found Damiano in his study, watching t

Chapter: 6. Touch Her and Die
Isabella POVThe shouting outside grew louder, layered now with running feet and a second gunshot that made the window behind us shudder faintly in its frame.Damiano didn’t move from where he stood shielding me, his gun still raised, his eyes fixed on the door like he was waiting for it to become a threat instead of an exit.“Stay low,” he said, his voice flat and certain, and then he was moving, pulling me with him toward the hallway rather than away from it, which struck me as backward until I understood he wanted to know exactly where the danger was rather than blindly running from it.Enzo appeared at the top of the stairs, weapon drawn, blood already streaked along one side of his jaw from a cut I couldn’t see the source of.“Two men breached the east wall,” he said, his voice clipped and fast. “One’s down. The other’s still inside.”“Where,” Damiano said, and it wasn’t a question so much as a demand for coordinates.“Kitchen corridor. Moving toward the family wing.”Toward us.

Chapter: 5. House Rules
Isabella POV Morning arrived with a knock at my door, brisk and businesslike, and a member of the household staff informed me that Damiano expected me in his study within the hour. I dressed slowly, deliberately, taking far longer than necessary simply because the one power left to me in this house was the pace of my own compliance, and I intended to spend it carefully. His study sat at the end of the east wing, a room of dark wood and heavy curtains that seemed to swallow sunlight rather than welcome it. When I entered, he was seated behind a desk large enough to double as a fortress wall, a cup of espresso cooling untouched at his elbow, and he gestured toward the chair opposite him without looking up from whatever documents held his attention. “Sit,” he said. I remained standing. “I’d rather not.” That earned me a glance, brief and assessing, before he set the papers aside and folded his hands atop the desk, studying me. “There are terms to this marriage,” he said. “I’d p

Chapter: 4. The Rossi Estate
Isabella POV The drive to the Rossi estate took nearly an hour, and I spent every minute of it staring out the window at a city that seemed to grow quieter and more guarded the further we traveled from the life I used to know. Damiano sat across from me in the back of the car, silent, his attention fixed on his phone rather than on me, which should have been a relief and somehow wasn’t. I had expected triumph from him, some smug satisfaction at having won, but instead he simply existed beside me. The estate itself announced its purpose long before we reached the front doors. Iron gates rose from the earth, and beyond them, the grounds unfolded in careful, manicured rows of hedges and stone pathways, beautiful in the way a cage can be beautiful if you gild it thoroughly enough. Guards were stationed at intervals along the drive, and I counted them out of habit, some small, stubborn part of my mind already calculating odds I refused to admit I was calculating. The main house rose
