Chapter: Amora's POV: The ParkWhen I asked Ann about a place where I could get a cheap jacket, she directed me about a block away to a used clothing shop. The outside looked like all the other surrounding shop fronts, the inside wasn't unique either: plain white walls, racks of clothes, hooks for hats and bags, a couple sets of shelves for shoes that had seen better days, and a small wooden counter on the left with a cashier behind it. There were a few customers wandering around the shop, not really looking like they were trying to find anything specific. I searched the signs on the racks until I found the jackets. I ended up deciding on a thinner jacket. It was black and white plaid with a gray hood. It was a couple sizes too big but at least it would accommodate my baby bump when I got home. The lady at the counter seemed young like me, early twenties, her smile looked a little fake. I declined the bag and receipt, I wouldn't need them, I was just going to wear it out the door. Jane, as her name tag was

Chapter: Amora's POV: Ann'sThe city looks so big to me, crowded too, but from what I've been told, this is a smaller city. All the smells are overwhelming; food, people, animals, sewage, trash, fumes from cars, etc. The last time I was here for recon, to get to know my way around the city, we passed a couple places I was dying to try. Now I had time to go there. I don't have much money for the week, a little from my sister and a little that the Alpha and Luna provided each female that leaves for The Pairing. It's not enough for me to stay some where like a regular human might, that's why we camp out in the woods, sleeping and hunting as wolves. Because of this I only had enough for small things in the city, I didn't need much anyways. I followed the smell I liked the most to one of the shops I passed during recon, "Ann's Coffee". I've mostly drank water and tea when I was at home, although when I was younger I do remember my mom bringing my sister and I juice from her trip to the city. She didn't

Chapter: Amora POV: The CityRunning through the forest was so freeing, I almost forgot how nervous I was. Stopping a few yards before the end of the forest, I shifted back and got dressed. We arrived a little quicker than I was ready for. The city is about an hour run for my wolf, but for me to walk as a human, would have taken all day. I left early in the day so I could be in the city around noon. This would give me time to scope out a safe area to find a mating partner in and head back to the forest to find a good spot for hiding my belongings and a comfortable spot for sleeping in my wolf form. Keska wants a sleeping spot that doesn't smell like humans have been there recently. We really don't want any campers stumbling upon us. Keska is bigger than the average wolf, all adult shifters are quite large, think small car. Alphas are said to be the biggest of all of us, I can't say from experience though. I've never met another Alpha besides Avenix and her mother, Alpha Allina. Allina was beautifu

Chapter: Amora POV: My PackAs soon as I step out onto the porch Kya captures me into a hug. I can feel the start of a baby bump under her shirt, it makes me smile knowing she will finally have a baby of her own. I worried about her after her miscarriage two years ago, they just weren't common among our kind. I thought she might never try again, no one would make her after a loss like that, but four months ago she decided to go to the city for her heat and now she's the happiest I've ever seen her. "Amora, I know this can be scary, but you are strong and brave and I know you will be okay." My eyes start to water when she kisses my forehead. I know I'll be back in a week, but this almost feels like 'goodbye', instead of 'see you soon'. I hug her again so she won't see the tears in my eyes. When she pulled back to look at me she smiled, almost sadly and said, "Be safe Amora. I love you." "I love you too." I replied as I walked down the steps, probably looking more sure than I felt. I looked back at th

Chapter: Amora/ KyaAmora: When meeting my Alpha, I noticed someone was with her, her mate, Ryxarra. She was originally just our spiritual leader, our connection to the Goddess, like a priestess. Ryxarra became our Luna when she and Alpha Avenix fell in love and formed a mate bond through a sacred ceremony. They weren't true mates, like we used to have centuries ago, but they raised their daughters together and I've never seen anyone else so in love. Alpha was standing there, a hard look on her face. She was always so serious, I barely remember seeing her smile until her daughter, Lina, was born. The only others that I'm sure get to see the real her are Luna and Luna's daughter, Merea. "Amora, you're late!" Alpha barked. "Sorry Alpha, I was just saying goodbye to my family", I apologized, eyes down out of respect and not wanting to start a challenge. "Avenix, this is a tough journey for anyone. I took my time as well, on my way to the city, before I got pregnant with Merea", Luna said defe

Chapter: AmoraIt is almost time for me to go away for The Pairing. I'm a little scared to go off on my own for the first time into human territory. We've been taken on recon missions to see first hand how humans live, so I do know my way around the closest city, about an hour run if I shift. Their technology, as they call it, I am very unfamiliar with. Don't get me wrong, we are in no way ignorant or uncivilized. We just don't use phones, cars, or computers. We still have electric and running water from a well. Our people just don't interact with the human world much; besides for the Pairing, buying clothes, and selling goods to them that we make so that we have the money to buy clothes. We grow our own produce, hunt, and raise livestock (including chickens). We also take care of our own medical needs, which are few and far between because our Goddess blessed us with magic, along with our wolves. Shifters heal quickly, have superior strength and speed to humans, we can obviously shift into w
