Alpha Reika: The Forbidden Love Series

#Book One in the Forbidden Love Series His hands made their way to the back of her head, and she felt a shiver run through her body. He pulled her in, and his breath fell on her lips. This wasn't right, she told herself, but she had one very stubborn heart. She had to discourage and resist him, but she was doing the exact opposite. “Tell me to stop, Reika. Tell me you don't want this as much as I do.” He whispered into her ear while leaving soft kisses there. All she wanted was to have his tongue in her mouth, doing devilish things to her, so she pulled him to her and smashed her lips on his. He's surprised by her confidence, but then pushes his tongue into her mouth to deepen the kiss. Their tongues intertwine with each other as they moan in delight. She'd never known kissing someone could make her all giddy inside. She'd never imagined herself falling for him, his smile and his laugh. If someone had told her three full moons ago that she would be kissing someone forbidden to her, then she would have laughed her heart out. “I know I can't have you Reika, shouldn't have you, but that makes me want you the more.” ~Reika, daughter of the Alpha of the Crescent stone pack, is arranged to marry Lowell, brother to the Alpha of the Moon pack. On her way to her wedding she is kidnapped by Vlad, Alpha of their enemy pack, the shadow pack, in order to stop the alliance between the Crescent stone pack and the moon pack from coming on.~ Faced with challenges, unwanted feelings and the shocking discovery of her mate, Reika embarks on a journey that changes her life forever.

Chapter: Fighting back[3]
~ReikaI was leaning against a wall, my eyes slowing closing, heading to a much-needed sleep when the sound of a distant growl reached my ears. My heart skipped a beat and I rose to my feet in fear. I looked at Arya, who had frozen in place, her eyes wide with concern. How had they found us so quickly?“Have they found us?”, I asked, my voice trembling, even though I didn’t want it to. I had to be strong!“It’s a warning,” Arya said quietly. “ It means they’re still looking for us. They’re probably close by. As long as we don’t make any noise, we’ll be okay. We need to be vigilant”“What about our scent? I hadn’t thought of it earlier but won’t they be able to trace it here.”Arya gave me a faint smile, “I’ve taken care of that. I concealed our scent with a magic potion, Eragon and I had gotten a while back.”The small sack she’d been holding!“Oh. Smart move.” I mentally smacked myself. Why hadn’t I thought of that? I was so useless. The Moon pack is still out there, searching for us

Chapter: Fighting back[2]
~ReikaI hesitated, my heart hurting with the knowledge that I was leaving everyone fighting those monsters behind. I had to trust that they'd be okay. With one final look, I turned and entered the passage. As Arya led everyone into the depths of the passage, the sounds of the battle fading, I made a vow to myself, that I would find a way to end this war, no matter what it took. But now the women and children were of top priority. The darkness of the passage pressed in on me, as we followed closely behind Arya, through the winding tunnels. There was no light, just plain darkness, making it impossible to see anything. The only sense of direction we had was the formation of a straight line, where everyone held onto each other with Arya leading. As we reached the hidden exit in the forest, I paused and listened intently. The sounds of battle were distant now, but I could hear the occasional distant growls. I only hoped Vlad and Eragon were holding their own.Arya ushered everyone out int

Chapter: Fighting back[1]
~ReikaAs I lay there, the warmth of Vlad’s body pressed against mine, a sense of unease gnawed at the back of my mind. The world outside the tent seemed distant, almost unreal, but I couldn’t shake off the feeling that something was wrong.Suddenly, the flap of the tent was thrown open, and Arya burst in, her face pale, her eyes wide with fear. “Reika, we need to leave. Now!”I sat up quickly, pulling away from Vlad. “What’s happening?”“They found us,” Arya gasped, struggling to catch her breath. “The Moon pack… they’ve found us and we’re outnumbered. They’re vicious, Reika!”Vlad was on his feet in an instant, his expression darkening. “The Moon pack?” His voice was a low growl, the tension in the room thick enough to cut with a knife. My heart sank. I had hoped for more time to prepare myself for this, but it seemed fate had other plans. “They want me. But I didn’t think they’d find us and this quickly too,” I whispered, my mind racing. “We have to get out of here before they….”A

Chapter: She's Alive[2]
A few days later, I made it to Boulderstall and was shocked by what I witnessed. The town was in ruins and men who I recognized as warriors of the moon pack guided the place. I knew this because there were many faces I’d encountered during my visits to their territory. I could capture things easily. Staying out of focus, I monitored everything that took place in front of the great gate that opened to the town. Carriages entered carrying boxes probably filled with food supplies. I still couldn’t fathom the fact that the moon pack had attacked the crescent stone back. Alpha Conri and Alpha Bodolf had been allies way before I had even been born. Surely, their friendship wouldn’t have been strong enough if a simple cancelled marriage had led to this. There was a ninety per cent chance that Reika was already in Boulderstall and had been captured. Though the chances were high, my gut told me she wasn’t. That I should look somewhere else. But where?Crouching down I tried to smell for any cl

Chapter: She's Alive[1]
~VLAD~I could hear concerned voices surrounding me as I was carried from the ground and placed on what felt like a mat. Their voices were muffled in my ears so I couldn’t pick up what they were talking about. I was semi-unconscious, that I could tell since I could not open my damn eyes. I tried to recognize each of them which, was useless considering my current state. The pain was still there but, I could no longer feel the dagger that had been accidentally stabbed into my chest by the woman I’d come to care about—that too against my wishes. She was the only one I could think of at that moment. Was she okay? Had she already reached Boulderstall? And most importantly, would I get to see her again? I felt a deep ache in my chest just from thinking of that. A wet substance was suddenly applied to my wound before all hearing seized and, I blacked out again.I woke up to the sound of men talking and the clattering of plates. My stomach grumbled and, my mouth watered as my nose picked up t

Chapter: He's Alive
~ReikaI made my way through the crowd until I stood in front of what had caught their attention. My body became tense, my hands slightly shaking by my sides as I stared at the person before me. I couldn't believe what I was seeing."V-Vlad?" my voice came out hoarse, my throat suddenly parched. He wasn’t dead! I couldn't explain the emotion that washed over me. Relief, sadness, I couldn’t tell but I was glad to see him. He looked well. No one would believe I’d stabbed him with a silver dagger some weeks ago. He stared back at me, his gaze piercing my soul as he came towards me. There was something in his gaze, a fondness that hadn’t been there before. It confused me. Everyone moved back, clearing the way for him as he reached me. I stood frozen before him, too shocked that words refused to tumble out of my mouth. He stood close now, so close that I could see a fading scar that cut across the left side of his face. It hadn’t been there before but it reminded me of the stranger behind

Chapter: 85~Two Blue-Eyed Ghosts
[Emily]The next Friday arrived wrapped in golden October sunshine, the kind of day that made New Orleans feel like a painting come to life. Elias had postponed his trip, and so he was arriving seven days later. I woke up this morning before my alarm, my heart already racing with anticipation, my mind rehearsing the words I'd been waiting six years to say."Elias, Hayden is your son."I'd practised it in the mirror a dozen times. Also, in the shower, while chopping vegetables for dinner the night before. And each time, my reflection smiled back at me, nervous, hopeful and ready. The DNA results sat in my nightstand drawer, the paper slightly crumpled from how many times I'd folded and unfolded it.99.9997% probability. The numbers didn't lie. Elias Lockwood was Hayden's father. I'd spent all these years running from the wrong man, and it was time to make everything right again.I called Elias early that morning to confirm whether he was still coming. The phone rang four times before h

Chapter: 84~Finally Answers?
[Emily]The call came on a Wednesday. Six days since Lisa and I sat in that clinic, handing over a ziplock bag with a single strand of dark hair, like it was evidence of a crime. Which, I supposed, it was. The crime of not knowing. The crime of six years spent running from a man, only to find out that I might have been wrong all along.I was at my desk at LensCorp, staring at a spreadsheet, when my phone buzzed. The caller ID made my heart literally stop. It was Genetix Laboratories."Ms Matthews? Your results are ready. You can pick them up anytime during business hours."The receptionist's voice was cheerful, oblivious to the fact that she'd just discharged a bomb in the centre of my chest."I'll be there in twenty minutes." I hung up and texted Lisa with shaking hands: "Girl, it's time."The clinic smelled the same as before, like antiseptic and anxiety. Lisa met me in the waiting room when she arrived. She'd been out on a work errand, and from her ID badge still on her neck, it lo

Chapter: 83~The Forgotten Son
[Lucent Volkov]The elevator ride to the forty-second floor took exactly forty-seven seconds. I counted every one of them, my reflection staring back at me from the polished steel doors; dark hair cut short for the first time in years, clean-shaven, wearing a suit I'd spent more than I cared to admit. I looked like him now. My blonde dyed hair was gone now, packed away in the dustbin of a hair salon two days ago. I'd stared at myself in the mirror after, and it felt like seeing an exact copy of my brother.Or maybe a ghost. Maybe I'd always been the ghost. A ghost of my brother, the man the whole world knew of while I was the one kept in the shadows. The one forgotten and erased from a legacy I should be part of.The doors slid open onto a marble hallway, and abstract pieces of art filled the walls. It was the kind of wealth that didn't announce itself so much as assume you already knew. There was a receptionist or a secretary; I wasn't sure. She was polished, pretty and looked profes

Chapter: 82~Waiting For Answers
[Lisa]The clinic on the twenty-third street smelled like antiseptic and my anxiety. I'd been sitting in this uncomfortable plastic chair for the past twenty minutes, my leg bouncing like it had a mind of its own, watching Emily fill out form after form at the reception desk. She looked calm. Too calm for someone who was about to find out if her boss was also her baby daddy.I wasn't calm. I was the opposite of calm. I was whatever word meant "mentally preparing for every possible disaster scenario."Emily finally walked over, a small paper bracelet around her wrist and a folder clutched to her chest. She dropped into the chair beside me and let out a long breath."They said five to seven business days before I get the results," she announced."Five to seven days?" I nearly choked in disbelief. "That's forever. What happened to those one-hour results we always saw on daytime television?""This isn't Maury, Lisa." She smiled, but it didn't reach her eyes. "They're very thorough as they

Chapter: 81~'His Woman'
[Emily]Elias's expression changed. The cold, controlled mask I'd seen him wear a thousand times shattered into something terrifying: pure and primal fury."What the hell are you doing here?" Elias's asked Axel, his voice low and deadly calm. The kind of calm that hid a bigger emotion, one that promised violence if one didn't tread carefully.Axel gave Elias a smug smile. Wrong move! "I should be asking you that, Lockwood. I'm just here to see my girlfriend."I snapped my head sharply to look at him. "I'm not your girlfriend!""Shut up, whore. Do you think you can play with my feelings?" Axel shouted back, the veins on his neck almost popping out. He advanced towards me, as if to continue what he didn't finish. But Elias beat him to it. He moved so fast I barely saw it. One moment he was in the hallway, the next his fist connected with Axel's face with a sickening crack."Ouch, you broke my fucking nose." Axel staggered backwards, clutching his face before crumbling to the ground in p

Chapter: 80~Disillusioned
[Emily]The rest of the day passed in a blur. I couldn't stop glancing at the bag that held the answers to all my questions whenever I could. It felt surreal to know that the truth about everything would be discovered soon.By seven in the evening, I'd finished wrapping everything up. Tomorrow, I had a free day, and the day after that I'd finally be leaving New York and returning to my sunshine.God, I missed him and his chubby cheeks. The hotel room felt too quiet. I'd been back for almost two hours, having taken a taxi from Lockwood Industries since Elias had been tied up in back-to-back meetings. He'd texted me earlier: "I'll stop by tonight. We need to talk."Those words had been looping in my head ever since. What did he want to talk about? What happened between us in my hotel room? Or about the Axel situation?I paced the room, still in my work clothes, my mind too wired to even think about changing. The small Ziploc bag with Elias'shair sat in my purse like a ticking time bomb.
