Chapter: Chapter 71
Elias pov, Camden was tense the entire ride and became increasingly agitated as the cottage drew closer. The entire house was surrounded by an eerie silence. There were no guardsmen or servants around. All of them likely hiding from the Alpha's wrath. Camden stayed long enough to walk me to Zayne's quarters. He waited till I knocked and was told to enter before slinking away. If he were in his wolf form, his tail would have been tucked firmly between his legs. As it was, so was mine. But I pushed the fear away. Zayne was my Alpha, but he was also my friend. I tried to keep that in mind as I entered the room. There had been some renovations done on the entire house. What used to be his bedroom was now extended into a separate living quarters with a living room, office, and bedroom. Zayne stood in the living room area, back to the door as he stared out the window. I closed the door and walked in, stopping in the middle of the room sparsely furnished room. “You sent for me

Chapter: Chapter 70
Elias pov, Marissa fell asleep in my arms and for a few blissful minutes, everything was alright with the world. The calm before the storm. I listened to the steady beating of her heart. The peaceful exhales of her breath. I gently stroked her hair as she mumbled in her sleep. I would give anything to turn back the hands of time. To make it so she never had to go through any of this. She would remain Zayne's and would be forever out of my reach but she would've been safe. Happy. Which was what I wanted for her above all else. Above the feelings I had for her. Which was why I knew her being with Zayne right now wasn't going to make her happy. Not with her memories returning. It was so hard to sort through the confusion. To keep a hold on my own feelings for her which had amplified to proportions I hadn't been aware of within the past six years. I couldn't let her go. I couldn't bear the thought of another man being with her. Even if that man was my best friend and alpha.

Chapter: Chapter 69
Zayne's POV, Things were not going as planned. I'd been unable to catch any sleep after returning from my date with Marissa. A date that hadn't ended well. We had a good time and everything was going smoothly until Elias called. If he hadn't, the night would've ended with Marissa back in my house, in my bed. We should've fallen asleep in each other's arms. I would let her sleep and then as the first fingers of sunlight kissed the sky, I would ravish her again, waking her up with an orgasm, watching with satisfaction as she clutched the sheets and screamed my name. Just like she used to. But no. I'd returned home alone because Elias called and her mind was no longer focused on the date. On me. She'd told me about her amnesia and I had to pretend like I didn't know. Her eyes shone when she spoke of Elias. How he helped her, how he was so special to her. I'd been so focused on hearing what she thought about his presence in her life, I forgot to act concerned and shocked over the

Chapter: Chapter 68
Marissa's Pov Elias tried to keep my spirits up during the drive home. He coul sense I was disturbed but knew me well enough to know what I needed was a little time to myself. Time to think and process the turn my life was about to take. So he steered the conversation away from my memories or werewolves or even Zayne. Instead he asked about the kids, about the shenanigans they'd been up to lately. He told me his younger sister now had a kid on the way. He'd told me about her before. Said they were kind of estranged and didn't get along well but he'd begun to try and get close to her again these past few weeks. I listened as attentively as I could. But it was hard keeping my mind from straying to the problem at hand. Elias didn't mind me being distracted. He was simply trying to fill the silence. I sat on a corner of the sofa with my knees up to my chest while he went into the kitchen to get me something to drink. He returned with a a cup of hot chocolate and some cookies he'd

Chapter: Chapter 67
Marissa's Pov., “And have you been having any headaches within the past two weeks?” Doctor Brooke asked, scribbling something in her notes. She'd been my neurologist for five years but there hadn't been a reason to schedule an appointment in about three years now. “Sometimes." I replied, squeezing Elias's hand gently for reassurance. I couldn't put into words how relieved I was that he was here. Dr Brooke asked more questions, keeping her tone encouraging yet steady. She was glad my memory seemed to be returning but didn't want to fill me with false hope. Apparently, this was a common scenario amongst amnesia patients and the memories might return steadily over the next couple of months or only trickle in a few times over the course of many years. We could never know for certain. She scheduled an MRI for later that afternoon and Elias stayed through it all. We went out for a quick lunch while we waited for the results from the test. " So, you didn't tell me about your date wit

Chapter: Chapter 66
Elias's POV, " Hey there my little gremlins!” I laughed as I tried to pry them off me and get back on my feet, " Up we get. Come on.” I hefted Lynn into my arms and finally got off the floor. Asher was jumping up and down talking a mile a minute. I hefted him up as well as planted a kiss on both their cheeks. “Where did you go? Did you get us presents? We ate oysters! I have a new sister!" I chuckled as I carried them both into the house, “Slow down guys, one at a time." My feet drew to a stop when I saw Marissa standing in the living room. She was wrapped in her sage green bathrobe, hair slightly damp and clinging to her face. Her eyes looked tired, like she hadn't slept much. I couldn't get my throat to work. And for a few seconds, neither could she. “Come on guys, don't drown Uncle Elias in questions.” She said with a small smile. “Off you two go. Shoes and shirts on and then breakfast." Ashlynn clung to my neck, " But we missed him.”" I know honey. I missed him too.” Her
