I'll Always Be By Your Side

After the doctor confirming her that her grandmother is in good condition, Hai Rin walks toward Hai Yun, who is still lying in a hospital bed.

Her hair has long turned into a greyish color. Her once beautiful face also has a lot of wrinkles now. She smiles, lovingly at her grandmother.

"Nainai, how are you?" she asks while her hand was still caressing Hai Yun's hair.

"Hmm... I'm too old now. I must be a burden to you." She didn't answer Hai Rin's question, but she patted her hand, her voice sounded a bit sad. Like she was blaming herself for troubling her granddaughter.

"No... Nainai. You're not a burden to me. You're in fact, a blessing to me. I'm glad that I can be your granddaughter in this lifetime." She hugs her and kisses her softly on the top of her head.

"Rinrin, I have something that I need to tell you..." Hai Yun faces turn serious, along with her voice.

She stare at her grandmother's face, feels a bit uneasy in her heart, but she still wants to listen to her grandmother's words, so she just nods her head lightly.

"It's...It starts with twenty-five years ago. When you were a baby, I found you beside the huge rock at the side of the waterfall. You were alone and cold. No one was there so I took you home that day and raised you. Your mom at that time was just lost her husband and her baby. She's been sick since then, but when you come to our family, I can see the changes in her. She really treasures you like her own daughter. I feel bad if I die, and you didn't know about this matter. I couldn't even face the god later." She started to cry.

While Hai Rin's eyes already well up with tears. She couldn't believe what she heard just now. Seeing her grandmother start sobbing, she hugged her tightly, trying to calm her down.

"It's okay, nainai...Don't cry. Who I was doesn't matter. I could never blame you. You're the one who saves me and raises me with love that I can never get with others." She kissed Hai Yun's forehead. Yes, even she's not the real granddaughter, she still loves her with all her might. That is something that can't change. No matter if they're not blood-related, but their bond is stronger than that.

"I'm sorry, Rinrin..." Hai Yin looks at Hai Rin's face with sadness in her eyes.

"Nainai, please take a good rest. I will accompany you today. After you can discharge from the hospital, let's started a new life, okay?" she wiped the tears on her grandmother's cheek softly with her fingertips.

"Yes... But don't you have to go to work?" She tilts her head a bit, it's a bit painful when she feels pressure from her head. She thought maybe it's the after-effect from the surgery before.

"Mm, Nainai, I have something that I need to tell you too." Hai Rin grabs her grandmother's hand and places it at her cheek before continue.

"I will start working at Imperial City next month. My contract is for 5 years. So after 5 years, I will return here again. I promise you, I'll come back here often to visit you later." Her soft voice makes Hai Yun feels more curious.

"Rinrin, did this work has something to do with my surgery?" she asked nervously. Her instinct says it has to do with her health. But...

"No.. Nainai, It just an opportunity that I can't let go. For the sake of our future, I'll do anything as long you and mama can have a better life." she ensures her with a bright smile.

"You're not doing something illegal, aren't you?" Hai Yun squint her eyes a little.

When Hai Rin heard this, she couldn't help to chuckle a little. How her grandmother can think something like that? Even if she's broke and weak, she never thought of doing something illegal. She still has some dignity.

"No~ nainai. Trust me, alright?" Hai Rin kiss at the back of her hand softly.

"Fine, fine... But promise me you will be back here often. Otherwise, I will feel lonely without you."

"Mm. Don't worry nainai..you and mama are my top priorities." She nods to convince her grandmother again.

A few days later, Hai Yun discharge from the Princeton hospital, and Hai Yin also got permission from the mental hospital for her to be taken care of at home. But she still needs to be regularly checked every month.

When Hai Yun looks at Andy Lu, who was standing at their new home, she gave a questioning look at Hai Rin.

Knowing her grandmother's expression, she said gently, "Nainai, this is Mr. Andy Lu. He's my partner for this new job that I was assigned to. So he will stay with me as a partner from now until our contract ended." She put the best word for her grandmother. Well, basically what she said is half true...

"I see... But his face does look like my daughter's husband. No wonder Yin seems to recover a bit from her illness." she mutters slowly.

"Oh?" Hai Rin reacts in a bit shock. She thought that her mother was just playing around. But when her grandmother said it, she knew that it might be right.

Andy Lu takes all of their belonging and put all of them at their room. He even does the cooking and cleaning job. It really gives Hai Yun a weird feeling. What kind of job did they assign? Why does he the only one doing all the house chores?

After they settled down all the things, all of the women went upstairs to go to sleep. While Andy Lu checks all the places to make sure everything is in good condition before he walks to his temporary bedroom.

They decide that Andy Lu will stay with Hai Rin to take care of her since its more convenient. Since the bedroom has one extra, he'll stay in the room on the first floor.

Calestical International Airport.

The day when Hai Rin needs to move in into Richard's family's mansion finally comes. Hai Rin and Andy Lu ready to go when Hai Yun hugs both of them tightly. She thanks Andy Lu for taking care of her and treats her nicely for a few weeks he stayed with them.

While Hai Yin also gives a hug to Andy Lu, she starts to wailing softly and speaks with a trembling voice. "Papa, please take care of Rinrin. Don't forget to eat. Stay healthy."

"Yes." Andy Lu just replies with a simple word. He knew her condition, he really didn't intend to break her heart when she knows that he's not the real husband.

Hai Yun then said to Hai Rin while holding her hand tightly. "If anything happens, remember that you still have us here. I'll always be by your side. No matter what, you're still my dear Rinrin. That will never change."

Hai Rin feels touched to hear those words. She wipes the corner of her eyes before she kisses her grandmother's cheek.

She then kisses her mother's forehead and waves goodbye to both of the women in front of her. She walks to the departure hall with Andy Lu behind her.

"Are you ready, Rin?" he asks her, who is sitting beside him at the first-class seat airplane.

"Yeah, I'm ready. Starting from this point, I need to be brave and tough in both mental and physical, so Andy...prepare to be my sword and shield." Hai Rin smiles back at Andy Lu, showing her cute dimple.

"You have me. I'll protect you with my life." Andy Lu said nonchalantly.

'Uhh... is he joking or is he being serious?' She thought to herself. She shrugged her shoulder and wearing her earphones while listening to her music from her phone.
