LOGINCEDAR BLAKE
I searched for him all day, walking through the pack lands and near the waterfall, hoping to catch a glimpse of him. But it felt like he was deliberately avoiding me. And honestly, I deserved that. I had thrown myself at him. What was I thinking, asking if I could kiss him? Since when did I become so bold with men? That was my very first kiss, and I acted like… like a desperate woman. Now, thinking back on what happened, I found my fingers brushing against my lips, the same lips he had devoured. His scent still lingered in my nose, and I kept daydreaming, craving more. But his last words made it clear there would be no next time. What if Dominus had seen us like that? Thank the goddess for the chef who had dozed off while cooking dinner. The oil from the chicken legs he was frying caught fire and set off the alarm. Things could’ve gone much worse, but even that chaos was better than the danger I would’ve faced if someone had seen us, especially Dominus. “Can you both please step back and give me some space? I just need some fresh air. I'm not going to run away,” I said sharply, irritated. How am I supposed to enjoy the view like I used to, with them standing so close behind me, breathing down my neck? “I’m sorry, but we swore an oath to protect you. If anything happens, Dominus won’t spare us,” one of the guards said, stepping back slightly while the other stood firm. “How thoughtful of him,” I muttered with a shake of my head. “Forget it, let’s just go back. There’s no point.” Even if I do see Deklan, would I really have the courage to talk to him? On my way back to the estate, the two guards followed closely behind. We stopped when I noticed a crowd gathered around the tall gates of Oakwood's trial hall. Curious, I stepped closer. I pushed through the pack members who didn't recognize me at first, ignoring the guards’ attempts to stop me. They quietly made a path, letting me through to witness the scene. Three ocean tombs, metal cages containing men, were chained to an old truck. The gates were just opening for the vehicle to leave, dragging the cages behind it. “What’s going on here?” I asked a young woman beside me who was silently crying. I doubted she would answer. “The Alpha gave his final verdict this morning,” she replied quietly. “They’re being cast into the Black Sea. No one’s allowed to speak their names again. Their families aren’t even allowed to mourn them. It’s the harshest punishment for anyone found guilty of treason in Oakwood ever since Dominus became the Alpha King.” “What did they do? Were they properly interrogated before their execution?” I asked, struggling to understand what crime deserved something so cruel. “They were caught trading veil shades and smuggling wolf rice across the border,” she said. Then she looked at me, and surprise filled her face. “You’re his Luna!” she gasped, backing into the crowd. “She’s the cursed Luna who brought injustice to our land! She should die!” a man shouted, shifting into his wolf form. “Kill the Luna!” More joined in, shifting into wolves and charging straight at me. I froze in fear, completely overwhelmed. My wolf was fighting to take control, but I couldn’t shift. My body wouldn’t move, I could only stand there, helpless, waiting to be torn apart. “Protect the Luna! Protect the Luna!” one of the guards shouted. Both guards shifted into their wolf forms, howling as they stood in front of me. The first wolf broke past them and lunged directly at me. I instinctively raised my arms to shield my face, screaming as everything suddenly went dark. The ground beneath me shook violently like an earthquake, and a loud ringing filled my ears. I collapsed to my knees and slipped into unconsciousness. I didn’t know what happened after that, or how I ended up back at Dominus’s estate. But when I woke up, I was in my bed. The pack healer, Kayla, stood beside me, speaking, but I could barely hear her. Everything sounded muffled, like my ears were blocked. I tried to sit up. “What’s going on?” I asked, my voice faint and distant, even to me. A sharp sting in my left hand made me realize I was connected to an IV. Kayla leaned closer with a small penlight, motioning for me to open my eyes so she could examine them. Slowly, I began to hear her voice more clearly, first echoing, then buzzing, and finally normal. “Blink for me, Cedar,” she said gently, shining the light in my eyes. One hand steadied my face. “What happened to me?” I blinked as instructed, then relaxed back onto the bed. My head felt light. Tears welled up in my eyes as she put the penlight away. “You’ll be fine,” she pointed out. “But you need to rest for at least seventy-two hours. No physical activity or use of your powers. You can remove the IV tubes once the mana infusion finishes.” “But I feel fine,” I protested, even though the execution scene replayed vividly in my mind. “I don’t remember everything. Maybe someone hit me?” “I’ll check on you tomorrow,” she said, packing up her things. “Like I said earlier, try to rest and don’t use your powers.” Then she left the room. A moment later, Dominus entered, as if he’d been waiting for her to leave. He paused at the door, staring at me like I’d grown horns. “Prepare yourself. There will be a blood-binding ritual in two days,” he said coldly, his eyes never leaving mine. Despite my aching head and overall weakness, I laughed bitterly. I couldn’t believe this was happening. “Blood-binding ritual? That wasn’t part of our deal. You’re breaking the contract again, Dominus! Isn’t it enough that I’m living like a prisoner…no, like a piece of seized property! You really want to go this far? Is that heart of yours made of rock?” I snapped, rising from the bed and yanking out the IV tubes from my hand. I don’t need a damn mana infusion to get better! I won’t lie around here while he plans to drain my blood for whatever selfish ritual he’s cooked up. “Don’t you think you’re the one breaking the contract?” he said with a smug smile, tilting his head. “What?” My voice trembled. No. He couldn’t mean what I think he means…CEDAR BLAKE “I am the prophecy!” I howled as I started whispering incantations that sounded strange to my ears.Thunder clapped through the darkening sky and the heavens opened up as it started raining, as if telling all wolves to find shelter and stop fighting against each other. As if washing away the stench of the past, the past they sneaked into my head and made me believe, and left me bare and new like a newborn.“Yes… you're the prophecy.” I lifted my head slowly to look at the gleaming eyes of the luna. “Why did you show me this? Why now?” I asked, taking her outstretched hand and letting her pull me up.The rain plastered my clothes to my body, making my skin cold even though I felt warm inside. Ever since the day my father was executed, I have never felt whole, the fire had lived in me. I had watched as they chopped off his head and hung it on a spike above Crystal Moon's gates, a warning to everyone who'd dare rebel against the throne.Since then, the luna has never looked
CEDAR BLAKE“The king is too kind,” Deklan said as Ursa led us toward an ancient gigantic gate.I had just learned the Guardians’ names after we explained we would be leaving with Sammy. They reluctantly agreed, though they made it clear they’d escort us out and back. The King had commanded them to protect us, especially me.I didn’t refuse the King’s kindness, though a lot of questions ran through my mind about the Guardians’ castle and wondering why the king that I've never met was being nice to me. But saving Crystal Moon came first. Maybe later, when everything was settled, I would have a real conversation with Deklan, if I still had the chance to be with him.“We have to leave now!” Sammy cried, almost breaking into a sob as we paused at the gate. “Dominus just gave Oakwood the order to attack Crystal Moon!”Baptista stepped forward, drew a circle before the massive rusty gate, and a glowing path opened. Before us stood the boundary of Crystal Moon and its neighboring packs.I ha
DOMINUS MARUTO If those shit-faced twins hadn’t interrupted the blood ritual, it would have been completed before Deklan stormed in to snatch Cedar. Their roar had triggered something in her, provoking her inner strength to slip free. That's why I made a last minute decision to accomplish my mission by another means.I don’t know if I can trust Sammy, not after her betrayal. I haven’t even earned the right to use her. Not that I’ve ever earned anything from anyone. Everything I take, I take because I can. If she paid me back in my own coin, I wouldn’t even be surprised.Still, she’s a mother hen. She’ll do anything to protect her chick. I don’t feel guilty pressing that button against her, forcing her hand, because I still need another way to draw Cedar out of whatever hole Deklan is hiding her in.And now it was time. Time to unleash my anger on Crystal Moon Pack, just as I’d planned from the very beginning. If I couldn’t possess power through the ritual, then I’d claim it by bloods
DEKLAN MARIOI almost kicked the wooden door down, but I forced myself to hold back as I shoved it open. It banged against the wall with a loud crash. I ground my teeth as I stormed inside, desperate to confirm what Jadrolita had told me.The woman had burst into the king’s training grounds, where he was busy showing off his archery skills, and told me someone, another me, had come to see Cedar the moment she woke up.Another Deklan Mario? My eyes darted to Cedar first. Relief washed over me to see that she was awake and safe, but then I saw him. My double. Standing beside her with his hand resting lightly on her waist as though he had the right. My face hardened. I clenched my fists so tightly my knuckles ached, probably turning white.“What is going on here?” Cedar’s confused gaze flicked between us.Of course she would doubt. How could she know which one of us was real? The one with his hand on her, or me…the one glaring from the doorway, furious and yet helpless to prove myself?
ADONIS AUGUSTUS “We found these!” Icarus reported as a guard stepped forward and laid a folded bedsheet and a few pieces of clothing on the ground.I had just finished talking to the soldiers, ordering them to stay alert and prepare for the unexpected. They should guard the boundary between our pack and the neighbouring territories. I have this hunch that Dominus would soon make a reckless move. He's short-tempered and capable of doing anything to get what he wants.I don't want to be caught off guard by him. That was why I decided to act first, making sure our defences were in place before he had the chance to strike. My pack could not afford blind wars. Blind wars destroy packs faster than any enemy could and the members end up as slaves to the conquering pack. It’s like my tricky card games, it’s not always about playing faster, it’s about playing smarter.I sat back on my throne, my eyes moving between Icarus and Nikko. They had been searching the woods, and as I listened to them
CEDAR BLAKE I felt myself floating, weightless, as if invisible hands were carrying me back from the edge of death. My mind woke first, restless and sharp, before my eyes finally fluttered open. For a long moment, I just lay there, listening.Silence.Not the comforting kind of silence you hear when you’re safe at home, but the kind that creeps over your skin and makes your heart beat faster. The kind that tells you at once you are not in a hospital, not in your pack’s grounds, not anywhere near people who care about you.I pushed myself up slowly from the soft bed beneath me, fighting the heavy pull of dizziness. My gaze moved around the unfamiliar room, trying to catch details, trying to piece together where I was. Snippets of memory started flashing back like broken glass…Dominus, the blood binding ritual, his mouth drinking from me, my body reacting, the disappearance of the sun and then nothing but darkness.Whipping my head around too fast, I regretted it immediately. A sharp p
CEDAR BLAKE"Sammy Porter."“What?” I choked, holding my breath as Klaus’s voice crackled through the phone.Klaus was the private investigator I had secretly hired to look into my parents’ framing and execution. He hadn’t found anything solid yet, and worse, Dominus had cut off all my communicatio
ADONAI AUGUSTUS“What the council wants, they get. That’s the old saying, but the elders are corrupt and hungry for blood! I know them better than you do, and that’s why I’m trying so hard to protect you from them.”I sat across from my mother, the Luna of Crystal Moon Pack, in her comfort room. Sh
DOMINUS MARUTO“This is unbelievable,” Cedar muttered, her voice thin with disbelief as she sank onto the bed. Her head drooped, one hand rising to her forehead where beads of sweat had begun to form.I don’t have much time left.Every moment that slips by is a step closer to the prophecy. A future
ADONIS AUGUSTUS“I told you, brother. She was going to humiliate us!” I shoved the cards into my pocket and kicked the door open.“Anger won’t get us anywhere, Adonis,” Adonai replied calmly. “If we’re going to fight, we need to plan. Cedar belongs to us. Didn’t you hear what Elder Harold said? She
