LOGINDEKLAN MARIO
I almost kicked the wooden door down, but I forced myself to hold back as I shoved it open. It banged against the wall with a loud crash. I ground my teeth as I stormed inside, desperate to confirm what Jadrolita had told me. The woman had burst into the king’s training grounds, where he was busy showing off his archery skills, and told me someone, another me, had come to see Cedar the moment she woke up. Another Deklan Mario? My eyes darted to Cedar first. Relief washed over me to see that she was awake and safe, but then I saw him. My double. Standing beside her with his hand resting lightly on her waist as though he had the right. My face hardened. I clenched my fists so tightly my knuckles ached, probably turning white. “What is going on here?” Cedar’s confused gaze flicked between us. Of course she would doubt. How could she know which one of us was real? The one with his hand on her, or me…the one glaring from the doorway, furious and yet helpless to prove myself? “Who are you?” I snarled, a growl rumbling in my chest. “I should be asking you the same thing.” The copy beside Cedar snapped back, stepping closer to her, obviously trying to trigger a reckless response from me. It was working. Jadrolita’s hand pressed against my arm. She must have sensed I was seconds away from transforming and tearing the imposter apart. “You can’t get into my head,” she spat at him. “I knew you weren’t Deklan the moment I saw you. You are masking your scent, but I can smell the difference. Keep this up and I’ll call the Guardians. You won’t make it out alive.” “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I–” His voice faltered, and immediately I caught it, the slip in his tone. He coughed, turning his face away. “Cedar, come to me,” I urged, struggling to keep my temper in check. “You don’t believe him, do you?” “I don’t know what to believe.” Her voice shook, her eyes wide. “How is this even possible?” The other me seized her hand. “Come with me. You’re not safe here. You can see that for yourself.” “This is the safest place she can be!” I thundered, lunging forward, only for Jadrolita to hold me back again. A heavy silence fell as the three Guardians entered behind me, their presence dominating the room. They immediately surrounded the false Deklan. “Sammy Porter,” Ursa said, eyes flashing. It wasn't a guess. They knew. Just as they had known my name and Cedar’s before I spoke it in the cave. The Guardians, like I have come to realize, are not only the strongest and most beautiful ones, they also have this unexplainable dark aura surrounding them. They're as evil as they're indestructible. “The mind reader,” Vanus drawled, looking bored. “Sammy?” Cedar gasped as the figure dropped the disguise, knowing that she'd been busted. “How did you get here?” I demanded, my anger cooling into wary confusion. “She’s a manipulator,” Baptista said coldly. “It was easy for her to use that little boy. That’s why I never keep failures alive. They repeat mistakes without even knowing.” “What are you talking about?” Cedar demanded, stepping in front of me, forcing me to hold back. Sammy cursed under her breath, but her gaze was steady. “Fine. I’m sorry, Deklan…Cedar. But as we speak, Dominus has already taken war to Crystal Moon Pack. I couldn’t stop him alone, not when he threatened to take my son.” “You thought the best thing to do was take Cedar back to him?” Fury ripped through me. I grabbed a fistful of her hair, yanking her head back so she choked against my arm. “I told you! The moment you betray her, you endanger your son!” “Deklan, that's enough.” Baptista shoved me off her, forcing me to release her. “You think I wanted this?” Sammy coughed, clutching her throat. “Dominus knew how to control me. He knew I could find her easily. I had no choice. I had to protect my child!” “You think handing her over ends it?” I shouted back at her. “Look at the war he’s already started. Don’t you see what he's doing?” “I have my own plans.” Her voice trembled. “But I knew you’d fight me, because Cedar is the only one who can stop him.” The Guardians exchanged glances. Then Ursa listed a hand and said, “We’ll let this go, for now. Your intentions saved you. But betray us again, and we’ll make you regret it.” The three of them left the room first. “I’ll be in the next room,” Jadrolita muttered, leaving and closing the door firmly behind her. Cedar finally broke. “Dominus is a monster. If I could stop him, I would! But I don’t even know what I am. These powers…they terrify me. I could destroy everything I love and wish to protect without knowing!” “You don’t need your powers.” Sammy’s voice softened as desperation leaked through her words. “Just let him inside your mind. Guide him with your thoughts. Make him believe only what you want him to see. Leave the rest to me.” “I don’t trust you,” I cut in instantly. “And Cedar isn’t leaving this castle until I know you’re telling the truth.” I gripped Cedar’s trembling hands, forcing her to look at me. Her eyes brimmed with tears. “I can’t believe I doubted you, even for a second. I feel like a fool.” I pulled her into my arms. Relief surged through me, until a mocking voice broke the moment. “I’ll destroy you for betraying me!” Sammy snarled behind us…this time in Dominus’s voice. Cedar startled, then laughed through her tears at the absurdity. “He doesn’t know you can do this,” I said flatly, turning back to her. “I never had reason to use it before. But I knew Cedar would only trust you… the man who saved her. So I had to.” She dropped the disguise and looked at us both. “Then tell us your plan,” I said, my voice hard. “Because we’re going back to Crystal Moon before Dominus starts a war no one can stop. His hunger for power seems to be getting out of hand.”CEDAR BLAKE “I am the prophecy!” I howled as I started whispering incantations that sounded strange to my ears.Thunder clapped through the darkening sky and the heavens opened up as it started raining, as if telling all wolves to find shelter and stop fighting against each other. As if washing away the stench of the past, the past they sneaked into my head and made me believe, and left me bare and new like a newborn.“Yes… you're the prophecy.” I lifted my head slowly to look at the gleaming eyes of the luna. “Why did you show me this? Why now?” I asked, taking her outstretched hand and letting her pull me up.The rain plastered my clothes to my body, making my skin cold even though I felt warm inside. Ever since the day my father was executed, I have never felt whole, the fire had lived in me. I had watched as they chopped off his head and hung it on a spike above Crystal Moon's gates, a warning to everyone who'd dare rebel against the throne.Since then, the luna has never looked
CEDAR BLAKE“The king is too kind,” Deklan said as Ursa led us toward an ancient gigantic gate.I had just learned the Guardians’ names after we explained we would be leaving with Sammy. They reluctantly agreed, though they made it clear they’d escort us out and back. The King had commanded them to protect us, especially me.I didn’t refuse the King’s kindness, though a lot of questions ran through my mind about the Guardians’ castle and wondering why the king that I've never met was being nice to me. But saving Crystal Moon came first. Maybe later, when everything was settled, I would have a real conversation with Deklan, if I still had the chance to be with him.“We have to leave now!” Sammy cried, almost breaking into a sob as we paused at the gate. “Dominus just gave Oakwood the order to attack Crystal Moon!”Baptista stepped forward, drew a circle before the massive rusty gate, and a glowing path opened. Before us stood the boundary of Crystal Moon and its neighboring packs.I ha
DOMINUS MARUTO If those shit-faced twins hadn’t interrupted the blood ritual, it would have been completed before Deklan stormed in to snatch Cedar. Their roar had triggered something in her, provoking her inner strength to slip free. That's why I made a last minute decision to accomplish my mission by another means.I don’t know if I can trust Sammy, not after her betrayal. I haven’t even earned the right to use her. Not that I’ve ever earned anything from anyone. Everything I take, I take because I can. If she paid me back in my own coin, I wouldn’t even be surprised.Still, she’s a mother hen. She’ll do anything to protect her chick. I don’t feel guilty pressing that button against her, forcing her hand, because I still need another way to draw Cedar out of whatever hole Deklan is hiding her in.And now it was time. Time to unleash my anger on Crystal Moon Pack, just as I’d planned from the very beginning. If I couldn’t possess power through the ritual, then I’d claim it by bloods

ADONIS AUGUSTUS “We found these!” Icarus reported as a guard stepped forward and laid a folded bedsheet and a few pieces of clothing on the ground.I had just finished talking to the soldiers, ordering them to stay alert and prepare for the unexpected. They should guard the boundary between our pack and the neighbouring territories. I have this hunch that Dominus would soon make a reckless move. He's short-tempered and capable of doing anything to get what he wants.I don't want to be caught off guard by him. That was why I decided to act first, making sure our defences were in place before he had the chance to strike. My pack could not afford blind wars. Blind wars destroy packs faster than any enemy could and the members end up as slaves to the conquering pack. It’s like my tricky card games, it’s not always about playing faster, it’s about playing smarter.I sat back on my throne, my eyes moving between Icarus and Nikko. They had been searching the woods, and as I listened to them
CEDAR BLAKE I felt myself floating, weightless, as if invisible hands were carrying me back from the edge of death. My mind woke first, restless and sharp, before my eyes finally fluttered open. For a long moment, I just lay there, listening.Silence.Not the comforting kind of silence you hear when you’re safe at home, but the kind that creeps over your skin and makes your heart beat faster. The kind that tells you at once you are not in a hospital, not in your pack’s grounds, not anywhere near people who care about you.I pushed myself up slowly from the soft bed beneath me, fighting the heavy pull of dizziness. My gaze moved around the unfamiliar room, trying to catch details, trying to piece together where I was. Snippets of memory started flashing back like broken glass…Dominus, the blood binding ritual, his mouth drinking from me, my body reacting, the disappearance of the sun and then nothing but darkness.Whipping my head around too fast, I regretted it immediately. A sharp p
CEDAR BLAKE“You swore you came here alone. So how come he's here with an elder?” Adonis asked in a low voice, his eyes burning with rage. The room turned cold.I froze. I couldn’t breathe. The name Dominus Maruto echoed in my head like thunder. And Elder Jeremy Harold? That made everything worse.
CEDAR BLAKE“Speak or leave!” Adonis growled again, stepping in front of his brother.“I need the antidote for wolfsbane poisoning.” I swallowed my pride and spoke, just like Adonai wanted. This wasn’t about me anymore. This was about Deklan, the one who, for reasons I still don’t understand, had s
ADONIS AUGUSTUS “Blood moon,” Adonai muttered again under his breath.Even now, those words still sounded strange to me.We were sitting in our office, buried in a pile of old books we’d pulled from the secret library, books that had been kept from us our whole lives. Our mother finally gave us ac
DEKLAN MARIOIt was just a nick on my arm. That’s what I thought when the man slashed me with his dagger. Wouldn’t have even happened if I hadn’t been foolish enough to jump in and save a total stranger. He looked like he had the situation under control, too. Maybe he did. Maybe he didn’t.Either w
