Chapter 2

K•E•L•S•I::::

"How can somebody this wicked exists?" I wonder with tears rushing out of my eyes and anger clouding my features.

Shamefully We picked out bags and walked out of the house, our house.

Mum and I were walking aimlessly on the way with people giving up the pity look, and some even whispering wondering what had happened to us.

We went back to Dad's elder brother, Richard to accommodate us for the time being, until mum gets a job that would be able to cater for our well being.

He refused, accusing mum of killing his brother that we should not step our foot on his doorstep again.

Mum was broken, we were helpless.

I was feeling sharp pains in my back and legs due ti walking for hours under the scorching sun, until I complained to mum and luckily for us we saw a shop closedby and we stood under the shade.

We waited for sometime and suddenly the weather changed, and it started raining heavily.

The shop was the most comfortable place for us that moment even when the raining was pouring on us due to leaked hole on the zinc, we were comfortable there.

We waited for the rain to stop so we can look for somewhere warm to lay our head, the breeze was cold, the downpour was heavy,I was weak, hungry and shivering.

Everywhere was quiet, it was getting late and dark we had not gotten anywhere in mind to spend the night, We hope for someone to come to our aid, No one came.

Mum told me we will spend the night there and look for somewhere else the next day.

I could hear mum mumuring softly and I knew she was crying.

I started crying too, hoping that everything will get better.

The thunder loudly rumbled, preparing the cloud for another downpour, I silently prayed for God to send someone who will accommodate us for just that night only.

At the end the shop was the safest place for us to sleep that night, we slept with mum sitting on the ground and me lying down on the bare floor with my head on her lap.

We left very early the next morning to look for somewhere better and safer for us.

We got to a huge house where there was a notice board saying ' House help needed urgently'

Mum didn't think twice to grab that golden opportunity, we both knew if mum gets the Job that means our accommodation is settled, maybe feeding too.

We knocked on the gate, the security man came out to answer us, he told us to wait so he can tell his boss what we came for.

We waited outside, the day was bright, it was a Saturday afternoon. The sun was harsh, piercing through our skin, we were tired, hungry and thirsty but the hope of mum getting that job gave us strength to keep standing.

Minutes later the security man opened the gate and allowed us in.

My jaw dropped, mouth wide opened when I saw the house, it was huge and very beautiful, the garden was big!

The artistic drawings, pool.  Everything scream money!

Different latest models of cars were parked at the garage, the design of the mansion alone kept us in awe, we kept looking around the compound.

Everywhere was sparkling and well furnished, it shows how wealthy and influential the owner was.

when we entered the room, it was breathtaking, from the furniture to the home appliances they were out of this world.

Luckily for us we met the owner of the house after mum explained our predicament, and how we sincerely need the job he wasted not time to offer mum the job.

Our joy knew no bound, we were so happy, the man was generous to mum and I he also told us to stay in one vacant room in the compound and promised to take care of my school bills.

We were speechless, finally! Mr Raphael Ideh was our answered prayer.
