Suzanne entered the bus provided by the hero league.
It was filled with people she knew...well most of them were are classmates. It was calming to see a few familiar faces.
'Who would have thought Suzanne would make the cut?!' a loud girly voice snickered.
Scratch that familiar-faces-thought for a second.
Suzanne turned slowly and came face to face with her worst nightmare.
Annabelle.
Seated on the row next to hers.
'Annabelle,' she regarded coolly. Annabelle snorted. 'I thought I had gotten rid of you when it was time to submit our application forms.'
Suzanne clenched her fists.
Annabelle had played a nasty trick on her during the period of the submission of their application forms to the hero league schools. The representatives were already running out of patience waiting for her as she tore her locker open and turned her bag inside-out in search of hers.
Little had she known that during recess Annabelle had snuck in to rumple hers and had thrown it in the trash can. She had found it out of sheer luck when the representatives were leaving and as she hurried after them to plead with them, she had stumbled into the trash can and all the contents had spilled out, revealing her very own forms right before her unbelieving eyes! Annabelle was that callous!
'Well, luckily I found it were I'd least expected it,' Suzanne replied.
Annabelle scoffed. 'You mean the trash? That's were people like you belong!' Somehow Suzanne had always gotten irritated whenever Annabelle was around.
'Whatever,' she murmured.
'Anyway...that's not what I wanted to discuss,' Annabelle suddenly turned serious. Suzanne couldn't resist pipping a 'What?' at that expression.
'I heard Ryan also made the cut.' Their eyes sort of glared at each other, each with an unspoken war in her head.
Suzanne cleared her throat. 'Of course he would. He's smart and talented unlike you,' she fired.
Annabelle laughed a short, angry laugh. 'My talents are nowhere near his but they sure do surpass yours.' she retorted.
Ever since they were little Annabelle and Suzanne both had had a crush on Ryan. The typical bad boy loner with his dark blue hair with his skills and his killer mode of dressing...his being wealthy was only an icing on the cake.
Since then both girls' interests had always clashed severely.
Ryan had a mysterious aurora around him as he hardly talked nicely to anyone, rarely smiled and was always alone in one training or the other.
He also came second in class every time. The first being Andrew.
A lot of girls found Ryan irresistible but he hardly ever glanced at one. He was cold to everyone, yet the further he withdrew the more attracted and infatuated the girls became where he he was concerned.
'Are you sure of that?' Suzanne's eyes glazed with an inner annoyed fire. 'Is that a challenge?!' Annabelle retorted, her eyes dancing with the same furious fire. They were both standing now, glaring at each other.
'Mind if I sit here?' a brown haired guy clutching his bag pack pointed at the seat beside Suzanne. The two girls stopped the staring contest.
'Um....sure,' Suzanne shrugged.
'You got lucky this time Suzanne,' Annabelle snorted and left for the opposite seat. She sat down tautly and looked out of the window, still annoyed.
Not too long after the tires or the bus turned to jet packs and flew off.
Suzanne sighed. It was going to be a very long day.
'I'm Justin,' the boy beside Suzanne smiled charmingly at her. 'Sorry about what you witnessed earlier,' Suzanne smiled back. She felt the need to apologize.
He laughed. 'Its okay, besides...,' he leaned closer to her. 'That other girl seemed scarily mean,' he whispered, stealing a wary look across at Annabelle, who still had her face plastered against the window, oblivious to the goings-on around her. Suzanne laughed. 'She is,' she confirmed, not giving Annabelle a second look.
'I'm Suzanne.' she finally said as she smiled nicely at Justin.
Justin grinned. 'I'm from Clarins High. Only a few of us from my form were selected. You guys from Milton High sure are lucky,' he commented.
'Um...this bus contains all the people who got in right?' Suzanne asked. She scanned around, Ryan had gotten in but where was he?
Justin laughed again. 'Not all of 'em. Some are being dropped off by their parents,' he explained. 'And besides this isn't the only bus assigned from the hero league. There are others too. We'll all meet up in Superhero High anyway,' he shrugged.
Suzanne smiled. 'I'm so excited I'm attending Superhero High!' she giggled.
Justin nodded.
He looked out the window. 'Looks like we'll be arriving very soon,' he informed her.
Suzanne nodded determined. She'll prove to everyone once and for all that she was hero material.
Her purpose in life was to be the greatest hero that ever lived and nothing would stand in her way.
Nothing.
The alarm clock beeped.A brunette stirred lazily on the bed. She tried to find the snooze button all to no avail. She clenched her hand into a fist and knocked the alarm clock away from her bedside table, sending it up in the air and crashing into her room's wall, making a big dent and destroying the alarm clock along with it.Suzanne turned to her other side to resume her sleep. This was Herotapolis, where the heroes lived. In this city there lived real, breathing heroes. You could tell already by the name of the city right?Hero League was an organization that pooled together normal people and trained them to become heroes. From chasing of bank robbers to extinguishing of fires in burning buildings, to serving as body guards to important people as well as getting stranded animals down from trees, or odd places, the heroes were ever availa
Suzanne yawned as she got off her bed.It had been a week since the E-rank exam. Their E-rank crest had been given to Coach Gwen but she said they had one final minor test to take before they were given their final E-ranks and then they'll meet their M.D corp three days after.Suzanne got her brush and combed her hair.Ryan was discharged the previous day so she knew he would be present today. She smiled at the thought. She had to look her best today. She got out her ribbon and packed her hair in a neat pony tail. She decorated her hair with her accessories.'Wassup, loser,' Shane leaned on her door post.'Hey Shane,' She decided to start ignoring the loser stuff ever since she heard that Shane had followed the guards that were taking Kyle away to give him a big talking to then he had landed a punch...or had attempted to at least.'Andrew's
'The judges have decided that Kyle Quole will be scratched out of the hero-league program due to the behavior he exibited today. But this decision shouldn't affect squad 12 so they shall be assigned a new Slad to join their group. Marissa Cartwell,' the Tifex said.'She has all her complete points and therefore can not be a hinderance to the team,' he concluded on that matter.'Suzanne O'Izzy, the judges have decided you are granted a win due to the situation on ground. Hence your battle with Kyle is crowned with you as the winner,' he stated.Suzanne couldn't stop her wide grin. Man, was she lucky!'And since Ryan Ziantez and Caleb Marsh had been shot, both will be given a pass too, however Andrew Frankstin and Lucas Will who remains standing will have the last battle. Their battle shall hold and the total counting shall rest on their shoulders.'The Tifex announced.
The crowd watched in open mouthed amazement.'Jesus, please help Suzanne,' Aiden prayed silently, his head bowed. It was the only thing he could do.Kevin glanced at him before facing the ring again. 'You sure are a terrible CIN, Aiden,' Kevin chuckled. 'I'm sure when CIN Rodrick was your age, he sure did a better job.'Aiden rolled his eyes.Suzanne yelped as a bullet whizzed past her.'He has a gun!' she shrieked, cowing on the spot. The comentator didn't know what to say. In all his years of moderating in contests, this was the first time someone wasn't fighting back.Shane watched as his twin ran around the ring while her bulky opponent, who was assigned to face her, fired off flames from the second gun he held.'Stay still!' Kyle hissed at her as he pursued her.
The noise of the crowd had quietened down. Now most eyes, if not all, were on the Squads that stood in a straight line assembled below. The Tifex moved about as he addressed the audience and the Slads.'Here are the instructions, listen up because I'm going to say this only once and that's it.' The Tifex said to the squads. He gestured to the field.'Over there, behind those red lines, the different squads facing each other will stand. But note, one person faces off only a person from the other team. And the match between the two will last for just a minute. The person that remains standing after the one minute time laspe will be the winner.'He looked back at the judges and nodded stiffly.'Since there are four members in each team, each team member will face the person he's facing opposite on the other line. If the time is up a
The squads that passed the first round were all assembled on a straight line and were made to face the panel that came from the headquarters. At their right was a battle ground with red lines marked close to the end of both sides, leaving a vast amount of space for dueling in the middle. A Tifex stood in the middle of the mini-field to act as a referee for the contestants. At the four corners of the huge wall, lots of seats were raised on a higher podium so as to prevent the fighters from reaching the onlookers.Defense mechanism shields were also put up in a form of glass around the places the audience would seat.Hence it was assured to be a safe match. The audience could easily watch the match below them without any worry of being injured by the fighters. The judges had a separate seat from everyone else. The CINs' seats were some feet behind the judges
