CHAPTER FOURTEEN
Jordan heard it too.
The sound was foreign to him probably because it's been so long since he'd been around a child.
But it had been loud enough to have penetrated the fog of passion that had cocooned Jojoba and himself.
He took a deep breath in a bid to calm himself and then he gently released an already pushing Jojo who was still trapped by his body on the island top.
He didn't let her jump down.
"Let me go," she fussed beginning to sound pissed, "that scream was from my sister and you want to carry on from where you stopped? God!"
He moved, pulled her down and then dropped her hand like it was some scalding hot potato.
His face closed up, losing all trace of emotion.

The week went by so fast.The days turned into nights and one day morphed into the next.They were all the same for Jojo .And her routine remained the same through it.Now that her mom was awake more often, she's resigned to cooping herself up in the room with her from dusk to dawn.That little moment where her mom had cried and looked at her like she knew her was long gone now, only but a distant memory.If there was a chance she could have hat again, she wanted to be here when it happens.But Meghan had slipped back totally to her old self, leaving no sliver of hope for the daughter that was patiently waiting for her recovery.Sometimes, Jojo wondered if she hadn't read those tears wrong in the heat of her flying emotions.Maybe her mother had only cried because of the excruciating pain she was having to endure.

As promised, Meghan was released from the hospital the next day on the account that she's improved greatly and was doing well now.She was informed that they should be back in a week for check up and at the slightest sign of a relapse, she should be brought in immediately.Jojo was elated with the new but she was just as surprised too.They were being let go without clearing their bills, yet.This was a first.She asked the doctor about this and he only laughed at her question as if she'd only asked it in a bid to be funny."Of course we wouldn't be letting you go unless your bills are cleared." He said, taking in her confused expression before he finally got the message.She had no idea what was going on.The lingering smile died away from his face and he asked,"You don't know anything about this, do you?"

The next morning came much quicker than she'd have liked and Jojo had to give up trying to get herself to sleep a little more and got out of bed.She trudged her way into the bathroom to brush and wash her face.A glimpse of her self in the bathroom mirror showed how tired and exhausted she looked from lack of sleep.She'd been up most of the night with the disturbing thoughts and questions that were nagging her mind and had only been able to fall asleep in the early hours of this morning.Only to have the morning rays snatch that from her too.Her eyes had the beginnings of dark shadows and they were a little red.If nobody notices, then she'd be fine.The clothe she had on was one of the ones she'd gotten before she'd moved into her mother's hospital room and was fairly decent.After deciding it was something she could go out of her room and down

There was a shift in Jojo and Jordan's relationship after that day at her old house that she wasn't ready to face.Memories of that day still haunted her.She'd didn't like imagining what could have happened to her if it hadn't been Officer Lucks in that house.Goosebumps covered her visible skin as she fought the meqmory.And then Jordan had come and there had been difference in the way he'd held her and the way he'd kissed her right there on their back door step.Slow and tender and every much the kind of kiss a girl can easily get addicted to.She was half way in love with the man already and if she let him keep kissing her like he'd done that cold afternoon, it wouldn't be long before she fell through the remaining half way.He'd taken his time after holding her in his big arm that made her feel safer than she could ever remember feeling before.
