Mariella’s POV

I noticed all the staff acting weird as I walked down the stairs. They were all avoiding eye contact with me. Some would greet me and then scurry away.

“Strange,” I muttered, tilting my head as I tried to figure out why.

I went to the kitchen and took some orange juice from the fridge. Despite the fact that Luciano and I didn't talk last night, I felt rather refreshed this morning. Most likely because I slept really well last night, thanks to the rain that fell.

Luciano’s POVIt had been almost three days since I last saw Mariella. But I guess now wasn't the time to think about it. For some reason, the Commission, or what was left of it, called an emergency meeting. I instinctively suspected it had something to do with the video, but I wasn't sure. The room went quiet the moment I walked in. And not the usual kind of quiet either. Not respect. Not discipline. This one was…different. It felt heavy. I didn’t slow down. Didn’t hesitate. Just walked straight to the head of the table like I always did. Like nothing had changed. But something had. I could feel it. In the way no one stood. In the way no one spoke. In the way their eyes followed me, not with loyalty, but calculation. It was good, though. Let them calculate all they want. As long as they still feared me, everything would be just fine.I pulled my chair back and sat, resting one arm on the table as my gaze swept across the room. Greco’s seat was empty. Not surprising. Traitors rarel

Mariella’s POVAs I walked upstairs, I heard his footsteps trail behind me. I really didn't want to talk to him, not in the mood I currently was. I knew I would snap and redirect my anger at Sophia towards him instead. And I didn't want that. The doors hadn’t fully closed before I turned. He walked in after me. And since it had come to this, I just let him have it.“What the hell was that?” I asked. He didn't respond immediately. He just stood there, looking at me. I could tell he was choosing his words. My mood was fragile, and he knew it. I watched him stand there for almost thirty seconds, and I was starting to feel irritated.“Well?” I pressed.“I didn't know she would come here,” he finally said. Like that was supposed to be a satisfactory answer. “Well, duh,” I snapped. He didn't react or respond. He was trying to read me. Did he think we were playing some chess game of words?“No one just walks into the De Luca mansion,” I continued. “She had the guts to do this because of y

Mariella’s POVI hadn’t calmed down. Not even slightly. Even after walking out on Luciano and leaving the estate to take a break from all the drama, I still felt suffocated. I had told myself I needed space. Some time away…but it didn't work. Because no matter where I went, the thought followed. That video. From Sophia's closeness to him to his hesitation. It still stung whenever I thought of it. Yet despite all of it, here I was, still at the very estate I said I needed some space from. Where would I even go when my entire life was here? My kids, Luciano…everything. I exhaled slowly, gripping the edge of the balcony railing as I stared out at the estate grounds. Everything looked the same, from the gardener trying to do his job in peace to Antonio chasing him down with his new wooden sword. This was the same sight that used to give me so much peace and joy. The same sight that made me realize how lucky I was to have my family. To have the life I now lead. Yet suddenly, the sight

Despite the fact that Luciano and I didn't talk last night, I felt rather refreshed this morning. Most likely because I slept really well last night, thanks to the rain that fell. I poured myself a glass of orange juice and was drinking it when a notification alert hit my phone. I paused, dropping the almost empty glass down on the marble surface of the kitchen island. I was terrified of notifications these days. So, taking a deep breath, I opened my phone and saw a message, a video file from an unknown number. I hadn't even opened it yet, and I felt my heart rate spike. Something told me not to open it. And yet again, my curiosity wouldn't let me follow my better judgment. I tapped

Luciano’s POVThe first call came in at 8:12 AM. I ignored it.The second came ten seconds later. Then a third. By the fourth, I picked up.“What?” I said, already irritated.“Boss… you need to see this,” Jose said from the other side. He didn't sound calm or jovial this time, which told me something wasn't right. But despite that, I wasn't in the mood to handle any problems. “Jose, I’m busy,” I replied flatly.“Not anymore, you’re not,” he replied almost instantly. There was a brief pause, and then he continued. “I just sent you something. Take a look, and you'll see.”The line went dead. I stared at the phone for a second before opening the message. It was a video file. I wanted to ignore it and go on with my work. But then again, the way Jose put it made it impossible for me to just ignore. So I tapped it. The screen flickered and then stabilized. And my jaw tightened instantly. It was…me. In the video. Judging by the angle of the camera, it was probably a surveillance camera pl

Sophia’s POVTiming…was everything.I stepped out of the hotel and into the waiting car without looking back. There was no need to. I already knew what was happening inside. The door closed behind me softly, and the car drove off. Then right on cue, my phone buzzed. This was too easy. I glanced at the screen. And there was a message, a video, and a text. I read the text first…> They're fighting right now.…And then proceeded to check out the video. It was Mariella storming away while Luciano tried to talk to her. They were fighting just as I expected.A small smile tugged at my lips, and I leaned back into the seat, crossing my legs slowly as the city lights passed by the window.“Drive faster,” I ordered. The driver nodded without a word and hit the gas. Everything had gone exactly as planned. From the message last night to the location and the timing. Even the distance between Luciano and me during our meeting. It was perfect. Luciano hadn’t touched me – not really. But that d
