An untold truth

I froze to my feet. My father had been lying to me this whole time, about who he truly was and what he does for a living. Could it be that the luxurious life I have been living is a product of his job?

“Dad, what’s going on?” I asked still in doubt and hoped my instincts were wrong.

“Dad!” he repeated and looked at me, his lurking eyes ran from my head to my feet and then he smirk. “Well Mr. Anderson, you do know how to surprise someone. Not only did you have the guts to steal from me, you ran away to the one place I wouldn’t even thinking of looking for you. Bought yourself a comfortable life, a nice house. I bet you have a lot of cars in your garage, a sweet wife and now a daughter!” he exclaimed in surprise. “I must say I am indeed impress, but you shouldn’t have done any of it.” He said as he stretched out his left hand to one of his men who handed him a glock.

“Please Mariano, I beg of you. Spare me just this once, I promise to pay back double.” He pleaded.

“You should know better than anyone that I don’t give second chances and the punishment for double crossing me is death” He paused and looked at everyone. “You don’t have to worry about your beloved family. I won’t lay a finger on them, and once I am done here, I promise they will never get to see me again.”

“Please Mariano, we beg of you. Just this once, spare us.” My mom went down on her knees as she was at the brink of tearing out. He gave no ears to their plead as he pointed the gun at my dad. At that moment fear gripped me, for I was about to lose the one man who I have loved dearly.

“Please I beg of you, I will do whatever you want.” He said still pleading.

“Hmmm.” He dropped the gun downwards. There was a sense of relief from both of my parents but were still in a state of panic as they had no idea of what he might do next. “Alright, fine. For the sake of your family, I will give you a second chance.”

“Thank you so much Mariano. Thank you.”

“I wasn’t done yet.” He spoke and cut off my dad’s words. “If I let you go just like that, you might eventually want to run away again and I don’t want that. I can’t keep looking for you, so this time I want you to come to me yourself instead. On that note, you are going to hand me something you value so much. I would have taken your wife as a collateral but that’s not an habit of mine, so I will let you decide on what you can offer me. Something valuable.” He said with a broaden smile.

My father was in despair for he knew that the only thing valuable to him was his family, other than that there was nothing else he values more. He looked at me again, and there on I knew I was the object of his target. I looked at my father who looked hopeless and helpless.

“Alright, I will give you everything I have. My house, cars and every other thing I have, including the rest of the money I have left.” He said

He chuckled lightly. “I was hoping you’d say that. It is a tempting offer indeed but I doubt that will be able to cover up the 1.3trillion dollars that you stole and now you are going to pay double making it 2.6trillion dollars. It’s not enough.” He said.

The little hope my father had was completely shattered. He opened his mouth to speak again but nothing except empty words came out of it.

“You don’t have any means of paying back do you?” he said with a displeased look on his face. He gave out a sigh and looked at me then at my parents kneeling in front of him. “What about this. Why don’t you get rid of her and pull out her kidneys and other organs, just like you did in the past when you were my father’s loyal dog.” my heart jumped into my stomach as fear encrypted into me. Not only was he a pawn of a mafia, he was also a killer.

“Please don’t, I beg of you.” His faced bowed to the ground, he was in guilt but nothing scared him more than the thought of losing me or my mother.

“There is the reaction I was expecting. Nothing is more valuable to a man more than his family, if that is the case I have no option but to do the needful of killing you.”

He points the gun at him again, this time he was about to pull the trigger. One of his men walked up to him and whispered into his ears, he smiled broadly.

He dropped back the gun and this time put it away for good. The tension in my heart reduced for the meantime.

He turned to his man who had whispered into his ears and nodded his head in form of a signal.

He left his post and walked down to me. Seeing him come, I took a step back but that was all as I made contact with the wall behind me. He got a hold of my hand and hold me firm.

“Let go of me.” I struggled to set myself free, but the more I struggled the more futile it became.

Having had enough of my stubbornness, he took out his gun and was about to hit me to a state of unconsciousness.

“Stop. That’s no way to treat a lady.” He spoke out loud. “Let her be.” He let go of my hand as ordered by his boss but stood beside me.

“Well Anderson, this is how it’s going to be. I know I can’t take a family member but you leave me no choice. You have 30days to bring back what you stole from me, and if the 30days are complete don’t blame me for whatever happens to your daughter.” He turned around about to make his way to exit. He nods again to his man which stood in front of me. He lifted me up the ground on his shoulders and carried me with them. I struggled again but it was all in vain.

“Ohh lest I forget. I am not a patient man, and I’m not so great with dealing with ladies. You of all people should understand that. So the sooner you start coming to me the better it is for the both of us.” He excused himself, his men followed and they took me along with them.

We made it to the gate, the security guard had all been put to sleep, that’s probably why we couldn’t hear him coming.

Arrived at his vehicle, his man tossed me like a bag inside the back seat of the limo. Soon after, he joined me and the cars engine went running as we set out for his destination.

I sat down still, it was just the two of us at the back and no one else. The thoughts of looking for a way to flee crossed my mind but it became a hopeless thought after I realized he had a glock beside him. At that point, I knew anything I do could lead to trouble for me and I might end up losing my life. I decided to relax myself.

“So sorry about everything that happened. I never met to scare you like that,” he said. He opened a bottle of champagne and turned it inside a wine glass “Here, you must be tasty. Have a drink.”

I was reluctant to drink for I had no idea if he had spiked the drink. He turned on another glass and drank from it, seeing him drinking of the same champagne means it must be safe. No man would want to poison him, I drank a bit to quench my thirst.

Just after I dropped the glass, I began to feel dizzy. My head was spinning hard, I looked at him as he kept drinking. If it wasn’t the drink then why do I feel dizzy. This isn’t my first time drinking so why?

“There now baby girl. Everything will be okay, I just need you to take a little nap that’s all.”

Eyes blurring, my vision slowly fading. I dropped down at the back seat of the limo and there on, I passed out.
