Chapter five

Since Kendra woke up from her sleep she had been confused as to what was happening in her home.

She wondered why people were screaming and why her mother was running away from their house and who were those mean-looking wolves eating her people.

She was so scared but didn't want to let her mother know because she didn't want to distract her mother.

She had been happy when her father and come to help her mummy defeat the bad wolves but was confused again and sad when daddy had said she and mum should leave him and go.

She wanted to say no but had seen the look in her father's eyes and knew that it was important and now her mother was asking her to go and leave her behind.

Kendra opened her mouth to tell her mother that she didn't want to go, then she saw the bad wolves and decided to do as her mother told her to do.

She tore off further into the forest her tiny legs eating up the distance as much as she could.

She was so scared but didn't want to disobey her mummy so she ran as fast as she could.

While running she heard the loudest hurl into the night, the hurl was filled with pain and anguish and immediately she knew it was her mother.

Her eyes flooded with tears making her unable to see and she stumbled on a fallen branch almost tripping on her feet.

" Let me take over, " she heard a voice whisper inside her mind.

" Who are you? " Kendra asked confused as to why she was hearing someone in her head.

" I am Trix, your wolf, " the voice replied.

"Now let me take over, " Trix urged her human half, a bit impatiently. She could hear the bad wolves closing in on them.

" Why? " Kendra asked still running.

" Let see because I am faster and can see better in the dark, " Trix said in a duh tone while rolling her eyes at the human.

Kendra nodded and let Trix take over.

" I am Kendra, " she whispered in her mind.

" Nice to meet you, Kendra, now let loose these guys, " Trix said in a cocky tone, referring to the wolves she could hear following them from a distance.

Following her words, she shot off into the night, her speed almost that of a teen wolf.

" Wow, you are fast, " Kendra exclaimed in an awed voice.

" Told you, " Trix replied, her voice a little bragging.

" I think my mum is dead, " Kendra whispered in a sad tone, lying down and curls into herself.

Trix felt her human half sadness and tried to offer comfort, she too had felt the death of their mother but right now was not the time to think about that, they have to get to the Black moon pack just like mother commanded.

" Don't worry, " Ken we will get back at those that killed our parents she said to her human half, her tone tender and consoling.

" Who is Ken? " Kendra questioned the wolf, sounding confused.

" You silly, " Trix, answered a little amused.

" Oh, " Kendra whispered nodding her head, while she used her hand to wipe off the tears that were rolling down her cheeks.

She wanted to rest for a while so she closed her eyes and fell asleep trusting her wolf to get them where they needed to be.

Trix continued to race through the forest, her paws falling lightly and fast on the fallen leaves.

While she raced through the forest a scent struck her nose. It smelt different from her pack smell and wasn't stinking like the wolves that had attacked her home.

It must be the Black moon pack, she thought in victory racing in that direction.

Behind her were so many heavy paws in pursuit.

See if you can catch me, Trix mocked in her mind while she continued to run.

She saw the boundary insight and increased her speed.

" Almost there Kendra, " she whispered to her sleeping human half before eating up the remaining distance.

She had just made it through the boundary when she felt something whiz past her.

Kendra was startled awake by the sound of an object whizzing past her wolf's head.

She followed her wolf's eyes to see something lodge into the tree behind them.

" What the hell, she thought in fear as Trix quickly dived away to cover when it came again.

Trix leap for cover was not fast enough to escape the weird object that was fired at her causing her to be hit on the leg.

Kendra cried out in pain as her wolf was hit by the object. It hurt so bad that she felt her eyes well up in tears.

Trix was in pain but she managed to drag herself to a shade of leaves from small trees in the forest and hid beneath it away from danger.

" Why did they shoot at us? " Kendra asked her wolf, her tone filled with fear.

" I don't know ken, " Trix replied wondering the same thing.

" Do you think they are bad like the bad wolves? " Kendra asked in a tiny voice.

" No, I don't, if they were mother wouldn't have told us to come here, " Trix replied her human half, but her words sounded weak as she began to feel weak and dizzy.

Her eyes began to flutter close but Trix tried to keep it open. She doesn't need to sleep now, she had to remain awake and keep them safe.

She tried to fight whatever was making her weak but lost the battle as her eyes fluttered close and she surrendered to the darkness.

The two warriors who had been on patrol at the north side of their territory felt something shoot past their sight and reacted on instinct.

The first one of them shot his gun and missed.

" Fuck, " he cursed while his mate shot at the fast-moving object, and then they couldn't see it.

" Where did it go? " The first man asked his mate looking around for what they shot.

" I don't know but I think I injured it, so it couldn't have gone far.

" Let's look around, " the second warrior suggested.

They both began to search the forest for their query.

Minutes went by without them having any luck, then the first one moved further ahead from the area they were searching.

" I see something, " he yelled back to his partner getting his attention.

The other warrior went to join the first warrior.

" What did you see? " He asked casting his gaze around.

" Blood, " the first warrior muttered pointing at the red droplets on the leaves.

They decided to follow the trail left by the droplets till they burst out to a section where the blood was more than they have been seeing.

" It should be around here, " the second warrior murmured softly and began to open hiding shades till he found the one hiding the fallen wolf.

" Found it, is a baby wolf! " He exclaimed loudly.

The first warrior hurried to his mate and looked down to see a small wolf with its fur black and white with a slight mixture of grey lying still on the ground, the fur around his leg red, probably from the injury he sustained.

When they looked underneath its paws they saw that it was badly blistered.

" The poor thing must have been walking a long distance. Wonder what made him trek all the way out here and what pack he belongs to?" the second warrior soliloquize to himself.

" Do you think he is dead? "The first warrior asked using his boot to shove the underbelly of the wolf.

" Don't think so, " the second warrior answered when he saw the wolf's chest lift.

Though the wolf was still breathing, it was barely alive, as his breathing was very slow and shallow.

" We need to get him back to the pack, so the pack doctor can look at him. I think the bullet must have grazed him and the silver-coated around it is not letting him heal, the second warrior said.

" Good idea, " the first warrior replied.

" I will go with him while you continue to keep guard, from the look of things I think this little dude must have been escaping from something and we wouldn't want any surprises."

" I will radio in for more backup now, " the first warrior said bringing out his walking talking and paged their superior briefing him on the situation they have on the ground.

" Chief said he will be sending two more people to join you out here, " the first warrior said referring to their beta.

He went to wolf and scooped him into his arms and took off in the direction of the pack.

He ran as fast as he can cause he noticed that the wolf was running out of time and his heart was filled with compassion for the wolf and hopes that he survives.

When he got to the pack land he ran for their mini-hospital.

" HELP!!! " he screamed loudly getting the attention of the people in the clinic.

Several of them ran in his direction including their pack doctor.

" What happened? " the blonde asked as her nurses took the little wolf rushing him into a room.

"He trespassed into our territory and we didn't know what it was so we shot at it," the warrior answered scratching the back of his head awkwardly while staring away from the blonde who he was sure will be shooting daggers at him right now.

Everyone in the pack is aware that their pack doctor has never supported their shoot-on-sight policy.

The blonde glared at the warrior before turning to join her nurses in the room.

She hated their pack policy of shooting on sight anyone that enters their territory without first letting the alpha know.

She was aware that the alpha was trying to protect his people but it sometimes leads to them shooting someone innocent just like this one, she thought staring at the still wolf with compassion.

She went to the section that had the sterile gloves and took one which she tore and put through her fingers before making her way to the wolf.

Her nurse gathered the equipment she needed and willed it in her direction.

The wolf was pretty much passed out so she wouldn't be needing any sedative, so she just cleaned the area with some antiseptics and took a scalpel which she used to scrape around the edges of the wound trying to remove residual silver gumming around the wound.

When she was satisfied that she has been able to remove all the silver she took up the bandage and started rolling it around the wolf limb.

The door to the room flew open and a very tall man entered radiating power and authority.

He looked at the table and asked " what is going on here? "
