White Wolf

Livey woke up to a beautiful morning, she took a quick shower and left the castle quite early, it was her birthday and she wished to do the things she liked, she didn’t care if she would be scolded by Bridgette, all she cared about was her freedom atleast for one day.

She visited her parents grave first,

“Hi mom, your baby girl is finally eighteen, I know that this was a day that you had always wanted to see but sadly you are not here to celebrate it with me. I am sure that you are watching over me and would always take care of me, since you left, things have been hard for me and I wish I could have joined you but things happen for a reason.

I love you mom, now and always.

And Dad, I miss you so much, I miss the fun times that we had, the coaching, the training, everything. I pray you are in a better place and that you and mom are together as always” She said and sat for a while beside their grave stone, they were all she had but yet they were taken away from her.

Walking into the woods and enjoying the scenery she once loved,

“Hello” a female voice startled her, she turned around but didn’t see anyone.

“Hello” the voice said again, Livey finally realized that it was her wolf speaking to her.

“Hi” she replied, her voice wasn’t as divine as her wolf.

“My name is Ruby, I am your wolf”

“Nice to meet you Ruby” she said, it felt nice to have her wolf, she now had someone that she could share her thoughts and pain with rather than carry it alone,

“How are you?” Ruby asked concerned, she was just a little pup but she felt so much connection with Livey.

“If I say that I am doing okay then I am lying, but I will be okay” she answered.

“Don’t worry we will be okay”

“So what kind of wolf are you” she asked curious to know what colour she was, her parents weren’t special wolves so she didn’t expect anything much.

“Would you like for me to show you” Ruby asked politely, there was so much concern in her voice and Livey loved the fact that someone cared for her aside from Mel.

“I know that first shift are excruciatingly painful but I am willing to take the risk” she answered back, the sound of bone cracking was all she heard until a beautiful wolf stood on all fours.

“White” was all Livey could utter in shock, she had never seen a white wolf before which meant that she was the first one in the pack.

“Is this a good thing or a bad thing” she panicked in fear, it was better to be hidden than known. That was her theory to life when she was new to things.

“A good thing, we are direct descendant of the moon goddess” Ruby informed feeling proud about her origin, she had so much to tell Livey about her but she had to wait for next time, Livey was still overwhelmed that she was indeed a white wolf.

Sprinting through the woods, Livey and Ruby felt free, the sand underneath their feet, the soft breeze brushing on her fur. It all felt new and magical to her that she didn’t want to part away from it.

“Is this what freedom feels like” for a moment she had forgotten about Ash, she had forgotten about her cruel past, she thought about nothing else except how exciting nature was. Ruby stopped by a lake to allow Livey see her fully.

“You are beautiful” Livey said in awe, she was stunned by her amazing beauty.

“We are” Ruby corrected and Livey smiled, she loved how she cared for her making it both of them in everything.

“All that is left is for us to find our mate then you can forget about the pain that you feel” she said.

Livey sighed, she was once more reminded of Ash and she felt a pinch in her heart,

“Don’t worry, our mate will shower us with love that we would totally forget about him” Ruby assured in a firm tone, she was just as strong as Livey, quick witted and smart.

“Before you starve for a week, I think we better head back” she said and Livey groaned, she was unwilling to go back to the castle and be the pack’s slave, she would rather sleep in the woods but what else could she do, she had no other choice than to return back.

“Livey, I searched everywhere for you” Mel said running to her,

“I am sorry, I needed some air” she replied and followed her to the room,

“You are lucky Bridgette didn’t look for you” she whispered and Livey giggled. ‘What’s up with the old hag’ they laughed.

“Okay now close your eyes” Mel ordered scribbling through her drawer for a gift for her, she was super excited to celebrate her friends birthday and even gift her something. “Don’t you dare open your eyes until I say so” she ordered and Livey obeyed still keeping her eyes shut.

She wrapped her gift tightly and chuckled, “Alright, open your eyes”

Livey found a small gift box in her hands, she happily took it and opened it, “a necklace”

“My mom told me to give it to someone I like” she replied, with a soft gaze as she spread her arms and hugged her. “You don’t know how much you have given me life, I have had my dark days in this castle but when you came i suddenly found the strength to stand tall and be myself” tears rolled from her eyes when she remembered how cruel everyone in the palace was to her.

“Thank you so much” Livey answered hugging her tightly.

“So, have you met your wolf” Mel pulled her to a seat,

“Yes, she is quite nice and strong just like me” she replied, Ruby was a stronger version of herself and she was glad to have tapped into such strength and Grace.

“I can’t wait to get mine, sadly I still have one more year or is it months” Mel cast her head on the pillow raising one leg up,

“You will and she will be just as special as you” Livey suggested with firmness.

A knock came on the door, “Here goes our scolding” Mel said before opening the door, when she saw who it was she was shocked to the point that she couldn’t move. She pinched herself to be sure if it was real.

“Hi Mel” Gamma Brent greeted, it took Mel a minute to process that he had talked to her and even said her name, she had expected Bridgette to be at the door and not him.

“Good morning Gamma” she cast her eyes down not wanting to show any sign of disrespect.

“You can look at me” he replied raising her head up with his hands, Mel met his handsome face again and she gulped down hard, his eyes were drawing her in that she was struggling so hard to resist.

“Good morning Gamma” Livey stood up,

“Happy birthday” he said and they were shocked, how was it possible that he knew her birthday.

“Your dad used to train me and he talked about you all the time, I may have kept a few important details” he replied bringing them to light after seeing their shocked faces.

Livey nodded and took the gift box from him still surprised,

“I will take my leave now” he turned and left them to their thoughts.

“Isn’t he so cute” Mel jumped almost screaming wishing she had a mate like him. When she saw him her heart started beating, his touch on her face made butterflies fill her stomach.

“He is” Livey replied watching her silly friend daydream about the Gamma.

“What they hell do you think you girls are doing?” Bridgette yelled from across the corridor, she was marching angrily to Mel’s room.

“We are sorry Ma’am” they apologized and ran to do their duties.

While working in the kitchen, Gabrielle invited her friend over for a chat.

“I had the most amazing night with the Alpha, who would have thought that he would be so sweet, I still feel exhausted after last night” She bragged to her friend Shirley.

“He told me how sweet I tasted, he couldn’t let me out of his sight as I slept peacefully in his arms. He confessed that he never wanted any other woman except me” She said loudly and Livey heard everything she said.

Livey couldn’t help but feel sad, she swallowed her grief and continued her work, she wouldn’t let Gabrielle see that she was breaking down, she had to be strong even though she was hurting.
