My mother stole everything from me. My childhood. My happiness. Even the man I loved. After discovering my boyfriend in bed with her, I leave the human territory with nothing but a broken heart and a burning desire for revenge. Then I discover my mother is the fated Luna of the powerful Red Moon Pack—and her future mate is Alpha Adrian Blackwood. So I make a dangerous vow. I will seduce the Alpha my mother is destined to marry. I will make him fall for me, prove that a werewolf can love someone like me, and take away the happiness my mother stole from me. But Adrian isn't supposed to want me. And the more I get closer to him, the harder it becomes to remember that this was supposed to be revenge. Because when an Alpha's wolf chooses the woman he shouldn't desire, someone is bound to get hurt. And my mother will do anything to make sure it isn't her.

Chapter one

Maya pov

“We're here, ma'am.”

The driver said stopping in front of the Blackwood's villa

My mouth parted on its own. I couldn't help but stare at the building. I haven't seen any building this beautiful or big before.

I climbed out, paid him, and took hold of my luggage.

Taking a deep breath, I walked toward the entrance.

I barely made it a few steps before one of the guards stepped in front of me.

“Your invitation or pass, ma'am?”

His face was so serious that I wondered if the man had ever smiled in his entire life.

What was I even thinking? There is no way I can just enter into the Blackwood's villa without a pass but I won't back down either

“Erm... I actually don't have one, but—”

“Sorry, ma'am. You can't enter.”

He cut me off before I could finish.

“The Alpha's fiancée is my relative,” I quickly added. “She invited me here. You can call her.”

I hoped he wouldn't ask too many questions.

He stared at me for several seconds.

“What's your name?”

“Maya. Maya Hart.”

He nodded once.

“Wait here. I'll go ask her.”

He walked inside, leaving me standing there with my luggage.

A few minutes later, he returned.

But he wasn't alone.

Margaret walked behind him.

She wore an expensive-looking black gown that hugged her body perfectly. Her heels clicked against the floor as she approached, and the jewelry around her neck and wrists caught the light.

She looked like she was enjoying every second of her new life.

Of course she was. She finally had everything she'd always wanted.

Her eyes landed on me.

The disgust on her face appeared instantly.

“What is that filthy thing doing here?”

I lifted my chin. The old Maya would have lowered her head.

“Oh, I mean...” Margaret's lips curled into a smug smile. “You must have heard that I'm the fated Luna of the Redmoon Pack and currently engaged to Adrian Blackwood.”

She lifted her chin proudly.

“I suppose you're here to congratulate me.”

Her eyes travelled over me.

“Because it's a position you'll never have for the rest of your life.”

The smirk on her lips widened.

I simply rolled my eyes.

A fated mark was supposed to be a sacred, unalterable gift from the Moon Goddess. Yet there Margaret stood, dripping in diamonds, claiming Alpha Blackwood had finally found his Luna because she bore the mark. I knew my mother. She was a master of illusions. If a fake mark was all it took to steal a crown, Margaret would have cut a mark into her own neck.

“Congratulations, Margaret.”

A mocking smile tugged at my lips.

“And just so you know, I'm here to stay.”

I pulled my luggage past her.

Margaret's smile disappeared immediately.

“What?”

“Security!”

The guards immediately moved toward me.

I didn't flinch.

“I wouldn't do that if I were you, Margaret.”

I leaned closer, lowering my voice so only she could hear.

“Unless you want the Alpha taking a closer look into your past before the wedding.”

Her lips parted.

The color drained from her face.

The guards were an inch away from grabbing me.

“Leave us!” she snapped.

The guards immediately bowed and stepped away.

Once they were gone, I looked at her calmly.

“I know you're smart, Margaret.”

I glanced down at my nails.

“What do you want?” she asked through gritted teeth.

I smiled.

“It's funny how a mother's past always has a way of catching up to her,” I said, stepping closer. “Especially when she leaves a loose end behind.”

“What do you Fucking want?” she snapped.

“Shouting isn't good for a thirty-six-year-old woman, Margaret,”

“I'm here to stay.”

Her eyes narrowed.

“This is werewolf territory. You don't belong here!”

“Maybe not. I've never belonged anywhere as far as you're concerned.”

I replied, holding her gaze. “But as long as you're wearing that ring, you're going to make sure I have a room, my education paid for, and everything else you forgot to provide over the years.”

I paused.

“Unless, of course, you'd prefer I ask Alpha Blackwood for a proper family introduction myself.”

Margaret's eyes widened.

For a moment, neither of us spoke.

She wasn't looking at the vulnerable girl she created anymore.

The girl she had once been able to hurt, humiliate, and control.

She was looking at a threat standing right in front of her.

Instead of backing down, Margaret stepped into my personal space.

She grabbed my upper arm, her nails digging into my skin.

“Listen to me very carefully, you pathetic little mistake,” she whispered.

“You think a few secrets give you power over me? This is my kingdom now. If you try to ruin this for me, I will make sure you disappear before you even get a taste of your precious tuition money.”

Her grip tightened.

“Nobody here knows you. Nobody here cares about you. Remember your place.”

I held her gaze, refusing to let her see how much her words still affected me.

The security guards moved closer, sensing the tension between us.

“Ma'am? Is everything alright?”

Margaret released my arm and took a step back.

In an instant, the anger disappeared from her face, replaced by a smooth smile.

“Leave us,” Margaret ordered calmly. “She's... extended family. She'll be staying with us.”

The guards bowed and stepped away.

Once they were out of earshot, Margaret's smile vanished.

“You want to stay? Fine,” she muttered. “Step inside. But don't ever forget whose house you're standing in.”

I turned toward the servant waiting nearby.

“I'd like my luggage taken to my room, please.”

She smiled politely.

“Of course, ma'am. This way.”

I started walking, then stopped.

“Actually…”

I glanced toward the upper floor. “I want the room beside the Alpha’s.”

The servant’s smile disappeared. “The room beside the Alpha’s?”

“Yes.”

“But, ma’am, only the fated Luna is supposed to have a room that close to the Alpha.”

A smile slowly crept across my face

“Exactly.”

The servant stared at me, clearly unsure whether I was serious.

I picked up my luggage, my fingers trembling slightly, and walked past her.

Behind me, I could feel Margaret's furious eyes burning into my back.

But I didn't turn around.

For the first time in my life, I wasn't asking for permission.

---

I lay on the massive king-sized bed, staring at the ceiling. It felt too soft for someone like me, someone whose life had always been rough.

I let out a heavy breath.

The first step of my plan is completed

I finally made it inside the Blackwood villa.

Time for step two

I wasn't here because I needed Margaret's help.

I was here because I wanted her to watch me take the one thing she never thought I could have.

I wanted Margaret to feel the same ruin she had given me the day I walked in and caught her—my own mother—in bed with Lucian.

My mate.

Lucian had looked at me with disgust, repeating the same words Margaret had drilled into me my entire life.

You're a curse, Maya. No werewolf could ever love a human.

Lucian thought a human could never stand beside a werewolf. Margaret had spent her entire life making me believe I was unlovable.

But I was going to prove them wrong.

I would make Margaret watch the most powerful Alpha in the territory fall for the daughter she had spent her life calling a curse.

And Lucian would have to watch the human he rejected become the woman his worst enemy couldn't resist.

A bitter feeling settled in my chest.

I walked out of the room, then stopped after a few steps.

This building was enormous.

Where was I even supposed to go?

“Ma'am, do you need anything?”

I turned and saw a woman dressed in a neat uniform standing nearby.

“Yes, please. Actually, I need a glass of water. Where's the kitchen?”

“It's over there.” She pointed down the hallway.

“Thanks.”

I gave her a small nod and walked to the kitchen.

Everything inside looked insanely expensive.

I opened the massive refrigerator, grabbed a bottle of water, and drank directly from it, hoping it would wash away the bitter taste in my mouth.

I noticed someone standing across the room.

A man.

I hadn't even heard him walk in.

My hand jerked. The bottle slipped from my fingers.

Water spilled over my chest and splashed onto the floor.

He was tall, with broad shoulders beneath a fitted black suit. Something about his presence made the room feel smaller.

“Who are you?”

His deep voice echoed through the kitchen.

The moment he spoke, something inside me stirred. A strange warmth spread through my chest

I tried to step back, completely forgetting about the water on the floor.

My foot slipped.

“Whoa—!”

I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the impact.

But before I hit the floor, a strong hand caught me around the waist.

He pulled me up effortlessly, slamming me right against his chest. My palms hit his chest on instinct. His muscles felt like solid stone under his jacket.

We were so close I could feel the heat radiating off his skin. A rich, natural scent of fresh rain and cedar filled my lungs, instantly making my racing thoughts fall quiet.

His dark eyes were already fixed on mine.

“Are you alright, Alpha? I should have given her the water myself.”

The servant's voice broke through the silence.

My eyes widened.

Alpha

He's the Alpha,?

I had expected Alpha Blackwood to be an old man. Instead, the man holding me was young, intimidating, and far more handsome than I had imagined.

Margaret was going to marry this man?

I couldn't look away. My heart hammered against my ribs, and I had no idea why being this close to a stranger was making my entire body tremble.
