Death II

Death II

Third Person’s POV

Priestess Eva’s bloodcurdling scream pierced through the darkened sky filled with smoke. And the escaping clansmen of the Blood Wolves clan shuddered in horror as they looked back to the central square.

Indignation and hate clouded their visions, and their escaping figures did not hesitate to go back to where the scream is coming from while disregarding everything to fight to the death with their pursuers.

They might fear the sickle of death, but they could not let anyone taint their clan’s honored Priestess without retaliation.

The Blood Wolves clan’s population is only less than five hundred individuals, and half of them are the old that are long past their prime, and children that are still unable to defend themselves from adult soldier werewolves of the Royal Ark clan that has been polished to endure the cruelty of a battlefield.

Discordant cries of unwillingness continued to ring in the slowly crumbling blessed land, but due to the sinister ploy of the Royal Ark clan in poisoning the food on Asha’s coming-of-age celebration, these strong and usually undefeatable warriors of the Blood Wolves clan could not stop their deaths from arriving.

“M-Monster…how dare you!” Priestess Eva clutched her forcefully opened bleeding chest as she glared at the indifferent face of King Regor and Crown Prince Rogeus.

Crown Prince Rogeus did not pay attention to Priestess Eva as he carefully placed the thumping organ in his hand into the ice jade box. A sigh of relief slipped out of his lips as he held the ice jade box with extreme possessiveness.

King Regor merely smiled amicably at his son while looking down at the fading light of life in the beautiful face of the Priestess in front of him. He could only feel a huge sense of pity as he is unable to savor such a wonderful beauty in his life. But, King Regor did not mind sacrificing such pleasure to obtain one of the needed pieces that started all of this madness.

Priestess Eva did not receive any response from the father and son, and extreme unwillingness dyed her crimson pupils as she felt the unstoppable flow of thick blood passing through her fingers that are desperately trying to clutch at her tore open chest.

She did not want to die, not at this time, not without knowing the spark that burned down the bridges between the two clans.

Priestess Eva did not want to die as the sinner of the Blood Wolves Clan’s prosperity and peace. She did not want to die as the one who broke the successive peace that the Moon goddess dreams of for the future and balance of Selestine.

How will she face her ancestors and the past Priestesses that have held their own piece of Selestine’s sky to fulfill its peace, prosperity and balance?

But no matter how unwilling and desperate she feels, death will not give her the time of day.

Priestess Eva’s breath grew weaker and weaker as she watched the receding back of King Regor and Crown Prince Rogeus before finally succumbing in the pull of darkness, but her eyes did not close, as they are unable to fully rest due to her extreme unwillingness.

King Regor and Crown Prince Rogeus did not bother to deal with the body of the fallen priestess.

The father and son are linked in their thoughts as they carefully left the blessed lands of the Blood Wolves clan with Priestess Eva’s heart.

The massacre that King Regor initiated only allowed his trusted soldiers to facilitate, and it is done with extreme caution to avoid the suspicion of the other ancient powerful werewolf clans in Artemia that knows of the existence of the clan that was held as the holy servants of the Moon goddess.

Even though Artemia is at peace with the hard work of the Blood Wolves clan in the shadows, there are three powerful werewolf clans that could challenge the rule of the Royal Ark Clan if they did not manage to raise a powerful descendant that could deter the rest. And this is also one of the reasons why King Regor decided to create the current situation.

King Regor did not want the power and wealth of his clan to be devoured by any of the rising three clans. After all, the Blood Wolves clan only needs to maintain the equilibrium of Selestine, but it does not mean that they will interfere with Selestine’s rule of the strong. And even if they do, it is only to cut down the casualties of the innocent that will be swept in by such events.

A war between two clans, as long as it does not affect the overall stability of Selestine, the Blood Wolves clan will let nature takes it course.

King Regor is fearful of the potential of the other three clans, and he is even more distrustful of the Blood Wolves clan since he took his reign as Artemia’s king, but he did not have any plan or strength to dominate all of them. And that was until the day his son brought back the ancient record that seems to answer all of his prayers.

Leaving the blessed land, King Regor and Crown Prince Rogeus hurried to a remote village on the east border of Artemia before entering a hidden tunnel that leads to an underground cave heavily protected by their own armored death warriors.

Meanwhile, in the grassy slope of the blessed land near the exit of the place, Asha stumbled as she kneeled down with bloodied knees from the huge force of Princess Regina’s casual push.

Asha did not want to leave their clan’s blessed land, but she did not want Soran to follow her, so she pushed him down the tunnel before running back to the grassy slope where she was surrounded by the soldiers of the Royal Ark clan that changed back in their human forms after seeing her weak figure.

“It seems like you are only a hollow and beautiful shell without any strength to back it up.”

Princess Regina’s voice is filled with ridicule as the malice in her brown pupils intensified with a look at Asha Blood’s immortal-like beauty.

“How did that bitch Eva even pick you to be her heir?” Princess Regina sneered while looking down arrogantly at Asha’s pitiful-looking condition.

Asha did not seem to hear anything around her as Priestess Eva’s mournful scream from earlier echoes in her mind like a broken record.

Priestess Eva is not from the main family of the Blood Wolves clan like Asha, but as the heir to her position, Asha has been raised by her like her own child, so the feelings between the two could not be summed up by the mere title of the current and next priestess.

And hearing the dying scream of the gentle lady that she treats as another mother, Asha’s mind blanked out as despair and fear followed by endless hate took root at the deepest part of her heart before flowing through every single fiber of her being.

Asha’s bowed head did not show any expression, but her hands that are supporting her body on the ground trembled incessantly from both fear and hate.

Princess Regina saw through Asha’s fragility at a glance, and a scornful laughter resounded in the slope as she bent down to grab a fistful of Asha’s deep black hair.

“Hmm…do you want to know what happened to your beloved priestess?”

“The relationship between you two has always been like mother and daughter…so why don’t you follow her example to die with all of the unwillingness that you could feel?”

Princess Regina’s gentle whispers succeeded in triggering Asha to madness.

Asha let out a scream like a trapped beast as she tried to stab Princess Regina’s eyes with her fingers while chomping down on the arm that is painfully clutching her hair.

Thick red blood flowed down Princess Regina’s arm along with some pieces of flesh, and if not for her agility, Asha might have pluck out one of her pupils.

“BITCH…! How dare you!”

Princess Regina almost went crazy at the pain shooting up her arm. She let go of Asha’s hair only to clutch harshly at her slender neck before throwing her a few meters away.

Dust scattered and Asha coughed out a mouthful of blood from the force of being thrown four meter away.

Blood started pouring out of the back of her head that was punctured by the couple of sharp stones on the ground that she landed.

Black spots littered Asha’s vision as she tried hard to catch the breath that is slipping out of her deflating body as blood keeps on flowing out of her terrifying wounds.

“I-I’m d-dying…?”
