Chapter 5

Bella prepared an antidote for Mira, she walked into her ward, and with utmost care, she injects it into her system.

She watches as the wound begin to heal slowly, until the sound of her phone pulls away her attention.

She stared at the screen, to see it was an unknown number. She ignores it at first, but the number called again.

She answered it, getting ready to give the caller a piece of her mind, when a gruff voice begins to speak.

She listened for a few minutes, her forehead creasing into worry line, her eyes grow wider by each minute, and her lip trembled.

She finally pulled the phone away from her ear, her body still shaking. She looked at sleeping Mira once again, before walking out of the ward.

She grabbed the first nurse she came across.

“Where is Doctor Kevin?” She asked the nurse, who seem a little bit taken back by her behaviour.

“He is in the emergency unit ma’am,” the nurse replied.

“Tell him to find me in my office, once he comes out,” she walked away after that.

Iris pulls her car into the tiny space in front of the old rusty cabin. Once she was sure nothing would happen to her precious baby, she stepped out of the car.

She crinkled her nose under the nose mask she is wearing, her eyes taking a feast of the dirt infested cabin in front of her.

She pulls out her phone, and dialled a number.

“Are you sure I’m at the right place?” She asked, as soon as the phone stop ringing.

She waited a few seconds before speaking again.

“You had better not make a mistake, because you know what I would do you if I find out you are lying,” she threatened, before hanging up the call.

She waved her hand in front of her, trying to chase away the stink of rotten skins. She walked cautiously towards the door.

Just as she made to knock, the door flung open, giving her a view of what is going on inside the house.

She hesitated for a brief second, doubt creeping into her mind as she tried to see past the fogginess in the room.

“I am here already, I might as well go in,” she mumbled, and closing the few meters between her and the door.

The door snapped shut immediately she walked in, the fogginess clearing off instantly, and her eyes met with a pair striking green eyes.

“Why are you here?”

Iris looked, and was surprised to see that the woman’s eyes was no longer green, in it place were dark orbs.

On getting a closer look, she also notice that the woman in front of her looks much younger that her.

“I need your help,” she reply brazenly.

“Who told you about me?”

“I don’t think that is necessary, what matters is the fact that I’m standing right in front of you,” she fold her hand in front of her, defiantly.

Before she knew what was happening, she crashed against the table that was sitting in the corner of the room.

"You will tell me who sent you here or you won't leave here alive?" The woman dark eyes glowed, and Iris thought she saw red flames in them, but they were gone just as they came.

"The choice is yours," the woman continue to stare at her. "You have less than a minute to tell me, or you can kiss yourself goodbye."

Iris felt her throat tightened as if someone grabbed them with force, the more she struggled to get free, the more it hurts.

“F. I. N. E,” she choked out, and the pressure left her.

"A friend of mine told me about you, his name is Khan," she confessed.

“What did he tell you about me?” She pushes herself out of her seat.

"That you are very powerful, and that you are the only person who can help me solve my problem," Iris looked into her eyes, and they were back to their normal green.

"What problem can someone this beautiful have, that who require her to come a long distance just to see me?"

“I didn’t catch your name before,” Iris prompted.

The woman stared at her for a while.

“My name is not important, but if you need something to address me as, you can call me Lisa,” she said.

“Lisa,” Iris repeated. “I need your help with something that is troubling me.”

“What is it?” Lisa stared at her.

“Someone is trying to take what is rightfully mine, I need your help to make sure he doesn’t slip out of my grasp,” she pleaded.

“Who is he?” Lisa moved back to her seat.

“My mate,” she whispered.

“You want me to help you so no one can take your mate away from you?” She confirmed.

“Yes.”

“It will cost you something that would either change your life for good, or bad,” Lisa paused. “Are you ready to give it away?”

Iris contemplates it for a few minutes, before she looked back at Lisa.

“Whatever it takes,” she said.

“A nurse told me you wanted to see me?” Kevin asked, as he walked into Bella’s office.

“Yes, I do. please sit down,” she nods her head towards the chair in from of her desk, while rummaging through some files in her drawer.

“I hope it not serious?” He asked, one could hear the worry in his tone.

“Of course not, give me a few minutes,” she continues to pull out different files and setting them aside

She finally stopped pulling out more files and sat across Kevin.

“These are the files that needed to be attend to as soon as possible, and these are the ones I intend to work on next week,” she pulls out a small stack of blue folder.

“And these are the ones, that contains information about our charity-.”

“Hold on a minute, why are you showing me all these files?” Kevin stared at her face.

He tried to grasp what is going on, but he only ended up more confused.

“What is going on Bella?”

“I have to go back to my hometown.”
