I love you

Sean’s POV

Sean stood up and cursed himself for letting the words slip out. Now there was nothing he could do to take it back. He had just ruined his chance to stay by Adina’s side. He waited for Adina to yell at him, but there was dead silence.

Sean turned around and saw Adina looking like her heart had shattered into a million pieces. He stopped breathing. What had he said that would cause her to react like that?

“Why don’t you want to be my friend?” she asked. There was a slight tremor in her voice. It felt like physical pain to Sean.

“Nothing, I shouldn’t have said it. Forget it,” he mumbled.

“No, Sean. If you feel like we can’t be friends, I need to know why. I won’t force you to be my friend. But I need to know what I did to make you feel like that,” she said and walked over to him.

That’s when Sean understood that Adina had interpreted his word to mean that he didn’t want to be a part of her life.

“Adina, I didn’t mean it like that. You have done nothing wrong,” he said,
