Robert Keene was seated in his garden enjoying the view with a newspaper in his hands. A chocolate lacquered coffee stool with a glass full of wine and bottle of Hardy's under it. He thumbed through the pages and stopped to sip from his glass once in a while. His wife Norah later joined him from the super active house. It was in this garden if not the bedroom where they did their usual talk.
"You are all alone out here Robert everything okay? I couldn't help but notice you were missing from the party"She kissed him on the cheek and took a sip from his glass of wine."Am okay hunnie I just needed some time to think you know with all the noise and kids playing everywhere""So what is that you're thinking about?""You really want to know?"Their relationship was based on single decision maker. Robert. They all just followed what he said blindly like a bunch of pilgrims. And in case they asked he always had an answer ready."Let me make it easy, how are yoAfter five hours of deep unconscious sleep, Lewis came around feeling lighter than he had walked in that morning. He was also feeling so hungry thank God the maid who was entrusted with nursing him had prepared some fresh hot dogs and a glass of lemon juice, he gobbled up two hot dogs and then sipped the juice breathing heavily.Reality started to sink in. He had fucked up the only best thing that was happening to him in his life that was far from perfect. He tried to call Elsie again. Her phone was switched off this time. Lewis collapsed on the bed his weight made it creak a bit, his guess fixed on the white ceiling his mind roaming far and wide. He had a tragic habit of coming back to his senses after making a mistake and in this case not just any mistake. The door was knocked gently."Come in!" He said not moving. The maid walked in shyly. Lewis was lying bare-chested on the bed with a pair of shorts. Sweating profusely."Good afternoon sir" she said.He sprang up. Was it afternoon
Lewis angrily kicked the door open, pushed her in the room and shut it with a bang. Elsie was left standing in the middle of the room massaging her right hand that moments back was in the grasp of his, shaking with fear, tears were already rolling down her cheeks even before he said anything. Not for long because it was coming, you could tell from how he was seething with rage pacing up and down the room mumbling to himself and hopefully punching sense into his head instead of boiling with anger. "Where the Fuck have you been, you can't just run off and switch off your phone God damn it!" Screamed Lewis confronting her.She said nothing instead she raised her gaze, her face soaking wet with tears and dropped it, blowing her nose."Crying? Seriously Elsie, you think you can avoid this conversation with tears...""You're going to pretend like you don't know what's going on between us really Lewis?" She asked amid sobs."I came home drunk, in the morning. No need t
The Woodley family dinner was underway. Lewis was unusually quiet and that was because Elsie had not yet come downstairs. And somehow no one was asking about her almost as though they all knew where she was except him. You know his doubt would have been cleared by asking but he chose to believe the conspiracy theories that were cooking in his own head instead of talking. Communication, very important if you ask me without it there is confusion. Certainty and assumption are the enemies of growth for real.It took almost five minutes before Elsie walked downstairs and to his surprise they all noticed her and not him who had been there the whole time."I knew this food was sweet, look who has been pulled to the living room by the aroma" Joked Steve."You were right, I didn't even put on the dress I wanted out of fear" She seemed happier than she was with Lewis which made him even more curious. What was going on and what had he missed? Did he drink himself to a one-month com
What Frank had taken as a moment of weakness, a kiss of confusion that only happened because she was sad was somehow taking a toll on him. The moment the two of them were separated he started thinking about it, every minute he spent around her was making him fall in love every day, for some reason he not only enjoyed dancing and going to work but also dancing with her, talking to her and sometimes just staring at her dancing. Dance had become like their secret language, some kind of Morse code that no one else could understand but the two of them."I want the whole cake!" "Wait, what?" Asked wade surprised. He had every reason to be surprised, they were seated in the living room enjoying a movie over bowls of popcorn. Again, a so rare occasion."Wasn't talking to you dude" Frank answered sending a fistful of corn through his mouth. To prove his point wade looked around before he turned to look at him. It cracked the both of them a little getting their attention
It was another fine Monday morning at the Woodley manor. Everyone was awake and active the children were preparing for school and the adults for work. Despite the small altercation with Lewis the Weekend had been great and it was not going to affect the vigor with which they were going to approach their various duties. Feeling left out was Lewis because whilst everyone was busy getting ready for work he was still in his pajamas looking on, he also felt jealous but again he had no one to blame except himself...not exactly what he thought. He blamed all of them. Anyway, on his way out to swim and sunbath the whole day, sleep was also on his schedule, he found Joe trying to help Andy get it together. Hilarious to him."You got this babe, this is just like any other office you've held. I can go with you if you like""No, I'll be good. They'll think am hiding behind you""Then tell me how I can help""You already believe in me, right? That's all I needed to hear""Go
That evening after work Elsie quickly went to check on George, she wanted permission to go run an errand, but we both know she wanted to go for that meeting with the blackmailer, sounds awkward and stupid but after thinking deliberately about the whole thing she decided to rise to the occasion and face her own demons, nothing was going to happen if she just sat there and expected her problems to disappear. She was going to take the bull by the horns and snatch her peace back. "Don't stay out late, you heard the conversation at the table" George said without making eye contact, it seemed as though he was going to be there for quite some time. To some extent she pitied and wanted to help, but you can't pour from an empty cup. The only way she could help him was if she didn't have problems of her own."Sure, I might be able to help tomorrow""You worry too much about me kiddo" he raised his gaze, "Too much to an extent my own son thinks you're trying to replace him""He was just angry,
The blackmailer watched on as the leaking with confidence Elsie laughed to her last teeth. She went to her pocket and retrieved a beautiful white flowery handkerchief. "Sorry" she said wiping tears of joy from her face, joy because she was like a student who got to see the test before sitting for it. Everything was going on as Tom said it would, “I have no idea what you're talking about here. If you want some money work hard for it or you can beg""I didn't come here to be insulted. You forget you're here alone" he said going to his pocket, showed her a knife and she also remembered he mentioned something about them being a team. "Ooh, yeah that's right. I'm sorry but we are both wasting each other's time here. You're accusing me of something I didn't do""Don't act smart with me. You know what? Just got an idea""I hope it helps both of us stop wasting time" "No, you know the price tag had just gone up. Now I'll be asking for half a milli. You can afford it by selling jewelry alon
All the Woodley’s except Lewis were enjoying a glass of milk in the parlor. It was a quarter to seven a bit late but you couldn't blame any of them who didn’t have a driver like Tom that knew how to beat the busy traffic. Surprisingly even George himself came in late, they found Elsie at home already helping the kids with homework, something none of them could do. It was one big happy family, and as the banter got more interesting, Joe stole Elsie away from the crowd. It had been long since the two of them had a chat, now that she knew him well she wasn't scared of facing him. But he was afraid of what she could bring on the table despite her calmness."What do you want Joe?""I come in peace" he said rising his arms in the air, a cool smile across his face that was not fooling her. She was well aware how quick he would have made it disappear. "What a joke? Last I checked you, me and peace can't co-exist""It's time to loosen up a little bit because we have a problem"It all sounded
