Quietly Leaving

I had originally written a total of 6 chapters that contained their interactions during dinner and part of the next chapters, however after reviewing it I decided to scrap the entire thing and keep it simple. (Regarding dinner with everyone) There were too many POV's to include and could have become confusing. Just as an insight, during dinner Fahla had explained a bit more of her story which you will read is now a conversation between only her and Purity. Because of Libidi's embarrassment regarding Fahla's prowess, dinner was almost a trainwreck and everyone started arguing about their 'feelings'. Lasci developed a chip on his shoulder regarding Fahla and said some harsh things that upset Purity. Pru and Bastian came to Purity's defense which set Lasci's jealousy through the roof and he stormed out. Libidi also threw in his nasty two scents ending dinner for everyone.

Pru ran to the balcony and was sure he caught sight of her for only a moment before she disappeared along the dark tree line. Going back inside quickly, he shut the door as quietly as possible, seeing Purity was still asleep. Walking fast, he left the room to run down the stairs and chase after Fahla. Walking over to the kitchen window, Lasci peeked through the blinds. Only blackness looked back at him with the occasional light display from the storm that stayed in the clouds. He wasn’t worried about Fahla but about how Purity would take the news that the female wolf had left. At dinner, he couldn’t help noticing the easy conversation between them and the laughter coming from Purity. They appeared to be close in such a short amount of time. It was the same with his brothers, too. She could talk comfortably with them and joke about things. So why did he always feel outside her circle, like a stranger sometimes? Purity watched as Johnathan threw a wave out the van’s window and drove off. She was nervous about being left in Tener’s care but decided she could fend for herself by turning away from him and heading straight into the kitty café. Small mews from the kittens in a small enclosed sitting area reached her ears, and the smell of baked goods and tea filled her nose. A standing sign greeted her and read, “Find your seat, lift your feet, and get cozy. Our fluffy friends will find their way to you. Lasci paced the floor, his mind on edge about Purity and everything he said the night before. Now that Fahal had left, he was worried Purity might hate him even more. The front door opened, breaking his thoughts when Pru came in. “Any luck?” Prus shook his head, “Nothing. She’s either covered her trail perfectly or had help.” Running his hands desperately through his hair Lasci swore, “Fuck, I bet that vampire helped her. Where is he?” “I haven’t seen him since dinner last night. It’s possible he helped her leave, but we can’t be certain. If the female wolf was here, in fact, looking for a mate, I doubt she would have left regardless of what the situation was. Not all of us will be mated to Purity, so she had a chance. Bastian smirked, “Thought you’d find that worth staying in my company for a moment. After your bad form toward my love, everyone left the dinner table. So, eventually, I found myself waiting on her balcony with no intention of eavesdropping. But, mind you, it just happened that way. I must have caught the tail end of something because one minute, they were talking about your nasty declaration, and the next, the female wolf was attempting to open the balcony door. I was about to hide myself when your brother, Pru, came in the bedroom door and caught her attempting to leave.” Lasci shook his head, irritated, “You’re telling me something I already know, Bastian. Get on with it, or I’ll lose my patience.” Bastian smiled innocently, “I’m getting there, be patient. Now, where was I? Oh yes, her leaving and your brother coming in. So they had exchanged a few words, and the female wolf left.” Bastian acted like that was the end of it, and Lasci snapped, “You’re wasting my time.” “

Johnathan's laughter rang through the phone as Lasci started to undress to ready his wolf, "What's so funny?" he asked, kicking off his shoes. "A moment, please, let me gather myself," Johnathan said, trying to calm the laughter, "You have no need to rush out as if saving the day, Lasci. The shifter is harmless. We've already had a nice chat over the phone, and as for Purity, I will say she's enjoying her dominance over Tener. I brought them to the gym for some blood-pumping exercise and discipline. It turns out our Purity is quite the little fox when it comes to handling your brother. She has had him on his back several times after learning only a few moves.
