Lasci paced the floor, his mind on edge about Purity and everything he said the night before. Now that Fahal had left, he was worried Purity might hate him even more.

The front door opened, breaking his thoughts when Pru came in.

“Any luck?”

Prus shook his head, “Nothing. She’s either covered her trail perfectly or had help.”

Running his hands desperately through his hair Lasci swore, “Fuck, I bet that vampire helped her. Where is he?”

“I haven’t seen him since dinner last night. It’s possible he helped her leave, but we can’t be certain. If the female wolf was here, in fact, looking for a mate, I doubt she would have left regardless of what the situation was. Not all of us will be mated to Purity, so she had a chance. If you ask me, I think she was just looking for a place to hide before moving on. Refuge, in a manner of speaking.”
