Lucien and his warriors finish off the assassins within minutes. Even weakened by the curse and silver poison, Lucien proves why he is feared as the strongest Alpha King. The remaining enemies retreat after suffering heavy losses.

Leah stands frozen, after wiping her mouth, staring at the dead wolves and the men who had transformed before her eyes. She still cannot accept what she witnessed.

Before she can recover, Lucien walks over, effortlessly lifts her over his shoulder despite her protests, and carries her toward the SUV.

"Put me down!" She pounds against his back but Lucien doesn't even slow down.

"You've kidnapped the wrong woman!"

Yet no response.

"Our Luna is... spirited." One of the guards quietly mutters, while Adrian coughs to hide a laugh.

Lucien shoots him a warning look and the guard immediately falls silent.

Leah continues complaining the entire ride while Lucien completely ignores her.

They pass through the hidden entrance into Blackwood Kingdom.

Leah notices the scenery changing, the towering gates, and the massive estate and nothing about the place looks normal.

She is escorted into a luxurious bedroom.

The door closes. She immediately tries the handle, but it was locked.

She checks the windows… Locked.

She searches the bathroom, the balcony, even the wardrobe for another exit.

She lets out a frustrated sigh. "So much for 'you're not a prisoner.'”

"I'm okay. Something unexpected happened. I'll be home soon. Please don't come looking for me." Remembering Chloe, her roommate, she quickly pulls out her phone. Thankfully, there is still a weak signal.

“No.” She hesitates before typing anything else. She deletes the rest. She had no idea who these people were.

She refused to drag Chloe into whatever nightmare this was.

A soft knock interrupts her thoughts.

Without waiting for permission, the door opens and Sophia walks inside.

"So..." She takes one look at Leah before smiling politely. "You're the human."

"And you're not? By the way I have a name." Leah looks up from her phone.

"I'm sure you do." Sophia slowly walks around the room. "I came to save you from embarrassing yourself."

"Oh?" Leah raises an eyebrow.

"Lucien is simply grateful you treated his injury. Don't mistake gratitude for interest."

Leah remains silent while Sophia continues. "He's known me for years. Our families are close, everyone knows I'll become his Luna." She glances at Leah's simple clothes.

"You, on the other hand..." She points at Leah. "...don't belong here."

"Really?" Leah smiles.

"Really." Sophia folds her arms confidently.

"Then why are you standing in his house trying to convince me?" Leah tilts her head.

"For someone so confident..." Sophia's smile falters, Leah continues before she can recover. "...you seem awfully worried about a nurse."

"You don't understand your place." Sophia's jaw tightens.

"I understand it perfectly." Leah stands up.

"I'm the one in this room and you're the one introducing yourself. Doesn't sound like you're winning." She shrugs casually.

"You think you're special?" Sophia's expression hardens.

"I think you're trying very hard to prove you are." Leah walks past her. "Here's a little advice. If a man has to be convinced to choose you..." She looks at her, "...he already hasn't." Sophia's face drains of color.

"You'll regret saying that." Never in her life had anyone spoken to her that way. Especially not a human.

"Get in line." Leah smiles sweetly.

Sophia storms out, slamming the door behind her.

Barely a minute later… Another knock comes. This time, Lucien enters alone.

His expression remains unreadable.

"So..." Leah doesn't wait for him to speak.

"Is kidnapping everyone who saves your life a family tradition?" She folds her arms.

"You aren't my prisoner." Lucien calmly says.

"The lock disagrees." Leah glances toward the locked door.

"It's for your safety."

"So I've been kidnapped for my own good?"

"I'm grateful for what you did." Lucien ignores the sarcasm. "I suffer from an illness. Our physicians haven't been able to cure it… I want you to continue treating me."

He places a document on the table.

Then another. Finally, he placed a black bank card.

Leah looks at the amount written in the contract. “$100,000,000,000?”

"You can't be serious." Her eyes widen.

"I am."

"That's enough money to buy a hospital."

"I don't need a hospital."

"I need a doctor who isn't afraid to argue with me." Leah looks at him for several moments, then she slowly places the contract back onto the table.

"Fine. I’ll treat you." A faint look of relief flashes across his face. "But I have two conditions."

"What are they?"

"First..." Leah meets his gaze without flinching.

"You contact my friend and tell her I'm safe." She pauses.

 "Second?"

"...you're going to call my boyfriend and tell him exactly where you've taken me…"

Lucien's expression instantly darkens.

“You have a boyfriend?”

The crack sound of wood splintering echoed like a gunshot. Leah shrank back, her spine pressing hard against the cold, carved stone of the corridor wall. She watched the older man, Owen, the King’s uncle, stare at the ruined pieces of his silver-handled cane scattered across the floor. Genuine shock spread over his dark eyes as he took in the gold blazing in Lucien’s gaze. But a heartbeat later, Owen’s surprise melted slowly into a smile. He peered past Lucien’s towering, vibrating frame, his stare locking entirely onto Leah. "So, this is the human. I could hardly believe the whispers.""Ethan!" Lucien roared. The Alpha King’s massive shoulders heaved up and down, yet his glowing eyes never left his uncle’s face. A man rounded the corner with unnatural speed. He had a boyish charm, but his playful features snapped into rigid professionalism as he assessed the standoff. Leah had never seen him before, but the immediate shift in the air suggested he held significant rank within the B

"What are you really?" Leah’s voice barely above a whisper, her eyes fixed on the dark, shinny blood in the glass vial. Lucien’s lips curled into a mocking smile, though a bead of sweat rolled down his pale temple. "What do you think, Miss Banks? After the assassins shifting in the street last night, the glowing eyes, the healings... are you truly that oblivious, or just desperate to remain in denial?"Before Leah could throw back a sarcastic retort, the remaining color completely drained from Lucien’s face. An unnatural tremor wrecked his massive frame. He choked on a breath, his hands flying to his chest as his knees buckled. He hit the polished hardwood floor with a sickening thud, his fingers digging into the expensive rug as he gasped for air. "Lucien!" Leah dropped the vial onto the desk and lunged forward. She dropped to her knees beside him, wrapping her arms under his broad shoulders and attempting the physically impossible task of hauling a man twice her size up into a p

Leah blinked awake, “shit, I'm still here.” After three seconds of processing her surroundings, before her brain remembers she wasn't in her cramped apartment. She sat up just as the room door was pushed open. A young maid in a uniform walked in, carrying a silver tray. The girl dropped the tray onto the glass table with a loud clatter. "Eat," the maid sneered, her eyes raking over Leah’s oversized t-shirt with disgust. "The King is busy. You are to remain here and keep out of the way, human."Leah swung her legs over the side of the bed, crossing her arms. She had dealt with entitled patients in the ER for three years… a snooty teenager in an apron wasn't going to rattle her. "First of all, good morning. Second, if you're going to deliver breakfast with that much attitude, you can take it back. I don't eat food served with a side of complex," she muttered with a sigh. What was wrong with the people here? The maid’s eyes flashed an unnatural yellow. "You dare speak to me like that?

"You have a boyfriend?" Lucien raised a brow."Is that really the part you focused on?" Leah raises an eyebrow."How long?""About two years." She shrugs."...Has he touched you?" Lucien's wolf growls, his jaw tightens."What?" Leah blinks.“Has he touched you?”He repeats the question."Dude." She folds her arms. "I'm twenty-three… Not thirteen." A brief silence follows, then she narrows her eyes."Why are you so interested in my relationship?" You've known me for, what... an hour?" She points toward the door. "And that beautiful woman outside? Let her know she has absolutely nothing to worry about.""I'm not interested in you. We're doing business. That's all." Lucien says nothing as Leah continues. "I don't care who you really are. I mean I dbut… idon't want to know." She smiled."You pay me. I treat you and when you're better… I'm gone.""You need the money." Lucien studies her quietly."The orphanage where I grew up is being sold." Leah hesitates. "If I don't buy it..." She sighs

"...Mate." Lucien's fingers tightened instinctively around Leah's wrist. The word hung between them, swallowed by the steady rhythm of rain striking the pavement."What?" Leah blinked but Lucien didn't answer. His silver eyes remained locked on her face, searching for something that simply wasn't there. His wolf paced frantically inside his mind.“Mate. She's ours.”But that couldn't be right. Everything about her screamed human. Her heartbeat, her scent, the warmth radiating from her skin. She carried no wolf aura, no supernatural scent, no trace of magic. Yet the unbearable pain that had tormented his wolf for months had vanished the moment she touched him.His grip slowly loosened and Leah immediately pulled her hand away and took two cautious steps backward."Okay..." She forced an awkward smile."I think you've officially lost too much blood.""What are you?" Lucien ignored the comment, his gaze never left her."I beg your pardon?" Leah frowned."What are you?""A woman." She sta
