Chapter 24 "a thief!"

 "You should be ashamed of yourself. I took pity on you and this is the thanks that I get!. You stole the shoes!" Mrs Santiago yelled at Annie, who had on a teary face.

"Do you have any idea many strings I had to pull to get you in there? How I had to twist the truth? How could you do that"

"Ma'am, I did nothing wrong I swear" Annie said, trying to convince the angry woman.

"Shush!" Lila silenced her.

"I paid you what you asked for. Not even a cent less. The money I paid you is equivalent to an entire neighborhood income plus they pay you salary too. I buy you the latest shoes and cloths. Tell me, why did you steal the shoes?"
