Chapter 30

last update Last Updated: 2025-02-23 03:33:45
Alaric’s POV

I was numb. It felt like I was separated from my body, hovering above it and watching my body move as I stepped into my clothes.

I never thought my father would choose a mate for me. I had the impression he would let me find someone on my own and fall in love. Apparently, I was wrong.

I tried saying no. I argued, and said there was no way I would take someone I didn't know as a mate, but he was adamant. He said it was done. The arrangements were made, and there was nothing I could do to back out. The agreement was made, and the contract was signed. He said breaking the contract would have dire consequences.

I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to let my father down. I knew he was counting on me to take over one day since I was the only one who could. My brother doesn't have alpha blood, and we have no other siblings.

He would have to start over from scratch and have more children. But even that's no guarantee he would have another Alpha son.

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 77 Ecstasy

Alaric's POV My head lifts off the pillow, and my heart jumps when I look down and look into his eyes. His tongue swirls around the swollen head of my cock before dipping into the slit. The pleasure had my hands fisting in his hair, and struggling to stay still and not thrust my hips forward and choke him with my cock. The thought of him choking on my cock had the slick flowing from me faster. “Oh, fuck!” I cried out when his lips wrapped around the head of my cock and took me into his mouth. My head went back, and my back arched as my length slid along his tongue, and disappeared inside his mouth. His mouth was so warm and wet. His lips felt amazing wrapped around me, and that tongue of his was like magic. When I looked down, I nearly lost my mind when I saw his beautiful lips wrapped around me. “So beautiful,” I breathed out, gripping his hair tighter as my cock disappeared inside his mouth again. I felt my release rapidly approaching, his mouth was just too damn good! Not to

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 76 His room

Adrian's POV Alaric had a death grip on my hand as he led me through the pack house. He gripped my hand as if someone would snatch me up and take me away. I felt how nervous he was having me inside the packhouse. The four guards following us did nothing to calm him. He glared at nearly everyone who passed us, and if someone so much as looked at me wrong, he growled at them in warning. I shouldn't have been smiling, but I couldn't help it. It felt good to see him so protective of me. He led me up the stairs to the 4th floor, where the scent of his family was the strongest. We passed a room on the left that smelled like Donnie, and my heart clenched. “Is your brother still out of town?” I asked, knowing his brother was supposed to be on vacation with his mate in the Virgin Islands. They took a month-long vacation for their honeymoon and rented a boat to visit all the beautiful islands. If I remember correctly, they still had a week to go before they were due to head home. Alaric c

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 75 Time for change

Third Person's POV Alaric felt panicked as he raced into the hospital. As soon as he entered, he was met with a chaotic scene of people racing up and down the hall. Alaric followed the flow of traffic but slid to a stop when one of the machines his father was hooked up to went flying out of his room and crashed into the wall. The next sound he heard was the sound of his father's roar. “Father,” Alaric whispered before sprinting down the hall and racing into his father's room. Upon entering his father's hospital room, he was met with more chaos and destruction. Wounded men were prying themselves off the ground while others tried to restrain the raging Alpha. Robert pulled himself off the floor before lunging at Lennox again, and this time, tackling him to the ground. “You old bastard! Stop fucking fighting me!” Robert growled as they finally pinned him to the ground. It took two commanders, one Beta and Alpha Victor, to restrain Lennox. The room vibrated from the continuous growl

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 74 Spiraling out of control

Third Person's POVAlaric watched the room clear and stared at the door when it closed. He turned and looked at his father a moment longer, and he suddenly felt like he couldn't breathe without Adrian. The lightly flowing tears flowed faster as he spun on his heels and sprinted out the door. It wasn't hard to find his scent. It was strong and addictive, leading the Alpha straight to his Beta.Adrian turned, and was caught off guard, gasping when Alaric's chest crashed into his. The Alpha's arms wrapped around him and lifted him off the ground as lips captured his in a searing kiss. Adrian's eyes closed, and the tears threatening to fall fell as he wrapped his arms around Alaric's neck. Adrian's heart stuttered at the tight grip his Alpha had on him. It felt like Alaric was afraid to let go, and Adrian didn't want him to. He wanted his Alpha to hold on tight and never let him go. “I'm so sorry! My head is all over the place, and I wasn't thinking straight. I just lost my dad, and

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 73 You're a shitty mate

Third Person's POV A makeshift conference room has been set up at the far side of Lennox's hospital room. Alaric refused to leave his father's side, even if it was for something as important as a meeting with his father's Beta and Commander to discuss what happened. “Neither of you was there?” Victor asked Lennox's Beta and Commander.“No. I had no idea he changed his mind about Alaric. He didn't want us there when they broke the bond, so we went about our day as usual,” Beta Peter said. Adrian's body trembled as he growled. His hands fisted tightly as his claws extended and pierced his palms. What Adrian heard was news to him. What did he mean by breaking the bond? The very thought caused a pain to shoot through his chest, and his throat to close. His body trembled as he stood protectively in front of Alaric, as if someone would try to remove the bond right then and there. Nikolai tried not to be mad at Alaric when he did nothing to calm Adrian. He knew the young Alpha was suffer

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 72 Is he dead

Third Person's POV There was no resistance as Victor stormed Lennox's pack with 500 warriors. The Alpha had no idea what to expect. Better to bring more men than you need than not enough, Victor always said.No one seemed concerned when they saw 500 of Victor's men flooding into their pack. Instead of fear in their eyes, they saw relief. It took no time for Victor's men to secure the perimeter of Lennox's pack. “Alpha Victor, are you here to help?” A Delta 1 Captain asked as he bared his neck in respect. His eyes were red and puffy, and dried tears streaked his face. Victor could hear the hope in his voice. Everything about the Delta 1 broke his heart.“Yes, I'm here to help. I have Alaric coming up the drive right now. Are his parents in the house?” Victor asked as he pulled his shorts on. Alaric and Adrian were too weak to run, so Leonard drove them. A team of 50 warriors followed them to ensure their safety. “N-No… They were taken to the pack hospital. It's down this road, just

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 71 If looks could kill

Third Person's POV Excitement rushed through Alaric as he burst through the tree line and saw Adrian's packhouse. He saw Alpha Victor standing on the porch with a firm grip on Adrian's father. He could tell Joseph wanted to murder him, and he didn't blame him. No one bothered chasing Alaric, and he was thankful for that. He was much too slow in his weakened state; they would have caught him with ease. Alaric runs around the left side of the pack house, not stopping until he is under Adrian's balcony. The young Alpha shifted and used the last of his energy to scale the wall. It was much more difficult this time, and for a moment, he didn't think he would make it, but he did. He pulled himself over the railing and took a moment to catch his breath. Yes, his heart was beating fast because he was exhausted, but it was also beating fast because he knew the love of his life was on the other side of that door. It was racing, and his hand trembled as he reached for the door knob and turned

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 70 Please

Alaric’s POV I stand on my balcony as my father bangs on the door. My knuckles have turned white from how hard I'm gripping the railing. Tears soak my face as I look out over the tree line toward Adrian's pack.My father's knocking gets louder, and he's persistent as he presses on the link, trying to force it open. I've gotten better at keeping it closed. I held it closed with everything I have, but he forces it open for a moment every now and then. When he does, I ignore him and don't respond. It's time, but I can't bring myself to go through with it. I don't want to! I want Adrian, and only Adrian! Every cell in my body begs me to jump over this railing and run home to him. My wolf is screaming at me to get us as far away from this place as possible. I thought of all the different possibilities. I've considered grabbing Adrian and running away. If they can't find us, they can't hurt him… but that wouldn't protect everyone Adrian loves. Aldrich would burn that place to the ground a

  • A Beta's Heart   Chapter 69 Alaric

Third Person's POVAlaric felt dead inside as he walked through the halls of his father's packhouse, which he now felt a connection to again. His link to Adrian's pack was severed the moment his father swore him into his pack again. It was the first piece of Adrian ripped away from the young Alpha. He didn't realize how much that would hurt, or how weak it would make him, and neither did his father. Alaric was surprised to see concern in his father's eyes when he dropped to the ground. Aldrich, on the other hand, was satisfied and walked out with a smug grin on his face. His father and Aldrich wasted no time severing his connection to Stonecrest Pack and re-establishing a connection to Nightmoon Pack. They did it the afternoon he came home. It felt like a punishment for how he reacted when Adrian showed up. It took five guards to restrain Alaric and keep him from going to Adrian when he heard him screaming his name. As if that wasn't painful enough, the connection to Adrian's pack
