Third Person's POV A soft vibration resonates from the Omega as he nuzzles his Alpha's neck. He shivers when Lennox's hand slips under his shirt and fingertips lightly trail against his back. The warm sun shines down on his back as he sits in his Alpha's lap, straddling him, snuggled in close as he scents his Alpha until his little heart is content. It's one of his favorite things to do ever since he discovered Lennox didn't mind that he scented him. He was pleasantly surprised when he discovered that the Alpha not only allowed it, but loved it.He tries not to seem possessive, and insisted he didn't need to scent his Alpha before leaving. But without fail, as soon as they were in another pack, the urge to stake his claim reared its ugly head, and as soon as the Omega found the opportunity, he climbed into his Alpha's lap and quickly set to work, thoroughly scenting him until his little heart was content. And the Alpha relished in it, large arms wrapping around his little mate as he
Wren's POV When I lay down to sleep that night, it was no different than the previous night, or the night before that, or the night before that. I couldn't fall asleep.I sighed as I stared at the Moon, then rolled over and looked at the open door. I pulled my lip between my teeth and chewed on it. Maybe it'll help if I steal a quick peek at him. Maybe if I can breathe in his scent one more time, I might be able to fall asleep. I chewed on my lip harder until I was sure it was bruised, then finally pulled the sheets back and quietly slid out of bed. I tiptoed across the room and stepped into the hall. The apartment was quiet; I could hear every little sound, each breath I took, and my feet touching the ground as I tiptoed through the apartment. His door was open, just like mine, which I was thankful for because I didn't have to risk it creaking when I opened it. I peeked my head into the room, and my heart jumped in my chest when I saw the silhouette of his face. The room was too
He's doing the role of a Beta and a Commander. He doesn't take their shit. He doesn't let any of those men walk all over him. He's putting these men on their asses and even some in the hospital. He pushes them on the training field like no one ever has. He has done more work in the office than two of my men could do!Adrian's amazing! I'm so happy for Alaric, and this pack. He's a blessing to all of us.” Lennox said, then took a sip of his wine. I smiled as I swirled my glass. I love listening to him praise our son's mate. I love seeing how happy he is. I saw the change in Lennox within days of Adrian stepping into the position. He was happier and stronger. His worried lines began to fade, and the tired look that took residence on his face disappeared…He tried to pretend he liked my asparagus and managed to eat an entire piece, which is a huge feat for him. He looked beyond relieved when I sighed, reached over, and took the rest of the asparagus from his plate. “Thank you, baby,” h
Wren's POVThe Alpha spoke fast as he suddenly lifted me out of bed and ran through the packhouse carrying me. There was a rush of people racing through the packhouse. As scared of them as I was, I was more terrified of the words flying out of the Alpha's mouth. I didn't catch everything; he was talking so fast. But I could see the panic in his eyes that he tried to hide, and hear it in his voice. It made the words I did catch that much scarier: “Don't worry, everything will be okay, under attack, shelter, you'll be safe there, no one will hurt you, I won't let them.” Everyone rushed into the basement and split up; half ran to one side, and the others to the other. A large steel door against the West wall was pulled open, one that didn't look like a door until they began to open it. It made a loud metallic grinding sound that echoed through the room as it was pulled open. A few seconds later, I could hear an identical sound from the opposite side of the basement. Everyone who could
The end of the book is near. There are only a few chapters left, maybe three or four. If you have any requests, let me know. There are a few things that will be left unfinished on purpose, like Sean and Arthur. I purposely stayed away from their relationship because I intended it to be in the next book. The next book will revolve around Andre, Arthur, Sean, Weston, Skylar, and Paxton, along with a few new characters. I wasn't planning on writing anything else after completing A Beta's Heart and The Darkness Within. But now that I'm near the end of this book, I can't imagine not exploring Sean and Arthur further, or not jumping into Andre's story to learn more about him and see where the story will take him. And Paxton… He's the most unique character I've ever created, and I only touched the surface of him in this book. I want to know more about him. I want to see where the next book will take him. I'm going to write one more book to see where these characters go, but that may be my
Third Person's POV Alaric gasped as he woke up. It took him a moment to determine what part of his dream was real and what was just a dream. He lifted his head as he pulled the sheet up to see if his leg was missing, like it was in his dream. His heart beat loud in his ear as he slowly inched the sheet up until it revealed two legs and two feet. He pushed out a loud breath as he dropped his head back against the pillow. “Fuck!” He cursed under his breath as he rubbed his face. He froze when he remembered another part of his dream. Adrian. In his dream, he was dead. Aldrich smiled evilly at him as he held his Beta's severed head.Alaric shot upright and looked around the room. His heart stilled when his eyes landed on Adrian's sleeping face. He looks peaceful as he sleeps leaning back against the chair. His Beta surprisingly doesn't have any significant injuries. Aside from a few bruises, scrapes, and cuts, he looks perfectly fine. “Adrian,” Alaric calls out. He didn't want to wake
