Silver’s POV

There was no mistake; it was her. My mind flashed back to all the times people had asked who she was, wondered where they knew her from, yet couldn’t place it.

I froze, my hand hovering midair as conflicting thoughts rushed through my mind.

“Argyle!” Jericho roared as he held Raid down, and in that instant, I felt the connection. I understood why his wolf had acted out. It was trying to warn me.

“Raid,” I called softly, and to everyone’s surprise, he calmed down. The darkness clouding his eyes faded as he slowly sat up, while Jericho continued to examine him closely.

“Is he okay?” Rory asked, shivering—but now I knew it was only a façade to conceal her true intentions.

“Alpha Raid, are you okay? I’m sorry if I did something.”

“No,” Raid groaned, leaning back against the wall, his hand covering his face as he struggled to regain control.

“It’s been happening since that night. I’ve been losing time, but it’s never spiraled like this before.”

Silver's POV“Get down, Miss Salvatore,” Kaleb demanded but I didn't move. His mercenaries attempted to take the stairs but they were intercepted by Algae who was already halfway to me. “Beta Algae!” Justin Horizon called out fiercely, the whole room became filled with gasp. He might be a Horizon but the aura he emitted was far more intimidating than Rune’s. I wasn't shocked- Kaleb tutored him. “Caution your friend or I will be forced to take action,” “Time for some fun,” Rune muttered beside his brother who pulled out his dagger with a satisfactory smirk. The air was thick with bloodlust, low menacing growls shot from every angle. “You might want to rethink, Silver,” Kaleb urged as he gestured to his mercenaries to stand down. “Then stop this nonsense!” I blurted. “You are killing Echo. Everyone in here doesn't care about the pack, they just care about themselves,” “It's a blood moon, tensions are high. We don't need this right now,” “You know what?” Jericho uttered as he g

Silver's POVEveryone had to move swiftly. It was the day we had all been dreading - the last day of Raid as Alpha. “Hi,” Jericho knocked on my door as I got ready.“Are you done?” “Uhm… almost,” I tried to hide the heaviness of my heart behind a smile but he saw through it. He walked in, his eyes examining my countenance with every step he took. “I don't believe it. The Horizons taking over is going to change so much,” “We once wished for a miracle like this,” he pointed out with a quiet laugh. “There was a time where we would have wished to bring him down and strip him of everything,” “I know,” I exhaled with exhaustion. “Raid might not be the perfect alpha but his crazy approach benefits everyone in Echo. Horizon benefits Horizon,” “What will you have us do? We can't exactly defy the family,” He inquired curiously. “And the people will side with them after knowing that Raid is fucked,”“Khang won then,” I breathed. The stress was weighing so much on my chest that it took

Silver’s POV“Is that one of those silver thingies?” Algae asked curiously as he stepped closer to her.She was shaking violently—this time, I could tell it was real fear.He moved closer and grabbed it from her hand. She froze, unable to move.“So this thing explodes silver? How did you build it?”“Let me see.” Raid took it from Algae and examined it with fascination.“It feels homemade. Did you build it yourself?”“You will all pay,” she said firmly.“He will make you pay. One by one—until he cleanses your sins from the earth. Your impurity will be erased by his blade, you have no idea what you are messing with,”Her words plunged the room into sudden silence, broken only by Jericho’s voice.“Bitch… shut the fuck up. I don’t care about your prophecy voodoo crap. Just tell us where your real boyfriend is.”She turned to me. I watched her closely, observing every movement. Her legs were stomping the floor in a rhythmic pattern.“The blood on your hands cannot be cleansed except by his

Silver’s POV“Say something,” he urged. The annoying truth was that I was more hurt by Raid pushing me to accept than by Triscade finding out I had feelings for another.“He is bad news for you, Silver. He walks with danger, sleeps with it even. I don’t think there’s a single day he doesn’t plan to kill someone.”“Don’t do that,” I muttered between heavy breaths.“Don’t try to paint him as the villain.”“I’m not painting anyone!” he retorted sharply.“It’s the truth and it’s one you would have seen if you weren’t blinded by the pheromones of your mate link. He doesn’t care about you. He only loves the chase, and you are the prey.”“What if I love being the prey?” I shot back, the question startling him. He cowered backward, staring at me in awe.“What if I enjoy him chasing me? What if I have feelings for him because he’s the villain? That’s me—falling for the wrong ones.”“You can still turn away. It’s not too late.”“And leave all this for what?” I asked, curious to hear his answer.

  • A Blind Gamble    Chapter Forty Seven

Raid’s POVHer alluring scent pulled me in, my body barely able to control itself. I knew staying over would lead to something, but I never expected it to feel this good. Her thighs pressing against mine had already drawn me dangerously close to climax—a sensation I had never experienced before. My lips had barely tasted hers when something caught my eye. A faint sparkle from across the room, on the chair facing her dresser. “What is that?” I pulled away, the familiarity gripping my attention.“What… what?” she exhaled, swiveling to see what had broken the moment.I reached for the necklace peeking out of her trouser’s pocket – A red ruby. My breath hitched as I examined it “Oh. I saw that in my secretary’s desk before I got attacked. It just felt familiar,” she said, confused.“Because it is,” I muttered.I remembered it—seen once in my father’s books, buried among other old records and runes. I couldn’t remember what was written about it but unease crept into my chest. Curiosity c
