Lucy.

I didn’t waste a second. I made my way directly to the consulate, determined to get in contact with King Ellison. Urgency pulsed through me with every step; I couldn’t shake the feeling that I needed to speak to him now. But no matter how desperately I insisted on seeing him, by the time midnight came, there was still no sign of him at the pack house.

I’d paced back and forth so many times across my bedroom rug, I was sure I’d wear the fibers down to the floorboards. The thought of him returning, of being near him again, it set my heart racing, tangled somewhere between dread and a strange, unshakable yearning I couldn’t quite define.

Maybe, just maybe, he’d appear the same way he had the night before, quiet and sudden, stepping in from the terrace like a ghost in the dark. That hope dragged me out onto the balcony, into the night air. I leaned over the polished railing, scanning the still gardens below for any trace of movement.

The night was silent and heavy, the air thick wit

Aurora.I’d long since lost track of the days. It might’ve been a week. Maybe two. Possibly more. Time didn’t move the same way down here, where the sun didn’t shine and the world felt suspended in endless twilight. Each hour bled into the next until I wasn’t sure whether I was dreaming or slipping into some quiet kind of insanity. My stomach twisted, not just from the gnawing emptiness, but from that ever-present fear: that Ivy had forgotten me. Or worse, had chosen to. I hugged my knees close, arms wrapped around my legs as if I could shield myself from everything, including the slow collapse of my own body. My limbs ached. My skin felt paper-thin over bone. She’d decreed I be given food every other day. Barely enough to live. Plenty enough to suffer.Across the cell, I heard movement. A faint rustle in the shadows.“Mother?” I called softly.A cough answered me.“Lady calantha…” I crawled over to the crumpled figure. “Are you awake?”Her eyes flicked open, dull and deeply sunken, b

Alpha Ellison. It took longer than I cared to admit to match her composure. I was caught in a fog of disbelief. Was this truly the same Omega I'd once chosen to carry my legacy? I couldn’t stop staring. Goddess, she'd transformed in ways I hadn't fully realized. But then again, so had I.“I don’t want you doing this again,” I said tightly, my voice rough around the edges. She turned her back to me, fingers trailing along the clothes hanging in the wardrobe.“It’s far too dangerous,” I added. She spun around, her eyes flashing with urgency. “Ellison, if you help me, we can handle it together. We can—”She cut herself off, inhaling slowly and straightening her spine. “Fine. What about all of this, then?”“I’ll get everything over to Town Hill,” I replied, steel settling into my tone.A spark lit in her eyes. She smiled brightly. “I knew I could count on you!”“I’ll bring a few men tonight,” I added.“I’ll let Ella know,” she said quickly. Seeing my reaction, she continued, “She’s alread

Alpha Ellison. What did she want this time? Was she deliberately trying to mess with my head?It had been three weeks since I last saw Lucy, three long weeks since our charged conversation on her father's balcony. From that moment, I had gone straight to my men, organized the mission, and we pulled off a daring rescue of the rebel scheduled for execution the next day. Of course, that meant riling up the local authorities again, and infuriating General Marcus in the process.Even with all the time that had passed, I couldn’t shake the memory of that night, or her words.“I’m braver than you,” she’d whispered, her face glowing in the moonlight, eyes wet with emotion. “I’m not scared to admit it. I still care for you, Ellison.”Her confession haunted me. I refused to believe she meant it. It couldn’t be real. I reminded myself brutally, that she had walked away from me without a second glance, hadn’t even bothered to say goodbye the day she dropped off the kids. I’d waited, bitter and br

Lucy.By morning, clarity returned. In the light of day, my late-night confession seemed absurd, overwrought, even childish. I'd done nothing but hand Ellison the upper hand, and I knew full well he wouldn’t hesitate to use it. I told myself I wouldn’t think about him today, though part of me couldn’t help but wonder, would he actually try to free those rebel slaves like I asked? I realized then, I had incredible trust in him. I didn’t doubt, not even a little, that he could pull it off, no matter the risks.Up until now, my world had been small, centered on polished dinners with diplomats, elegant brunches among elite ladies, exclusive shops, and the safety of my father’s pack. But a pack had to be more than just wealth, finery, and noble bloodlines. I wanted to see the true heart of it.My driver didn’t share my enthusiasm. When I insisted on being taken on a proper tour, he stalled. I had to threaten to go alone in a hired cab before he begrudgingly agreed. The moment I mentioned I

Ivy.The glass trembled slightly in my grip as I moved through the shadowed hallway. The sharp cadence of my heels rang out, each step thudding in rhythm with the fury pulsing at my temples. They were laughing. Last night. I heard them from the upper floors, unmistakably. Laughing, after everything. After everything I’ve done for them. How dare they feel peace?I halted in front of the thick iron door. The guards stationed there shifted aside silently, lowering their gazes as if they understood that now was not the time to test me. I slammed my foot into the door, sending it swinging open with a moan of distressed hinges, and strode in.There they were, tangled together on the freezing stone floor like fragile creatures. Aurora had her arm thrown protectively around her mother, calantha. Their breathing was slow and even, completely at ease.At ease. The sight sparked something savage in me.I hurled the water.“Wake the hell up!” I yelled. The glass exploded beside them, shards scatt

Lucy.“You couldn’t even wait for me to be gone before marrying your mistress? Was I really that easy to forget?”The words burst from me, harsh and furious, slicing through the stillness before I even knew I’d spoken them. No—shouted them. My voice echoed violently off the icy marble walls of his chamber, vibrating with pain, anger, disbelief.King Ellison didn’t move. He stood frozen, his lips slightly apart, his shoulders drawn tight, as if weighed down by something heavy. Something dangerously close to regret.“Say something!” I yelled again, pacing like a caged beast, my rage threatening to tear straight through my skin. My chest burned; each breath was agony, as if the air itself had turned to glass inside my lungs.Still, silence.I spun to face him, my hands trembling with fury. “Why? Why would you lie to me? Why pretend to care, to protect me, to love me and then turn around and marry her?” I struck his chest, once, twice. My fists were no match for his armor, but the betraya
