037: Cat got your tongue?

Celeste

“If it’s not the accomplice we were looking for.” Holy crap! It's her. How… How did she know Maita was here?

Those words and the sound of that voice made my soul fly out of my body. Her whole presence traumatized me for days. It was only a few days ago that she tried to kill me, after all.

Wait! Don’t tell me I was being monitored all along. Did they set a trap and Maita walked right into it?

“This is seriously not what it looks like. Maita only brought me some food. Please, don’t implicate her in all this. She had nothing to do with anything.” I could only plead with the she-wolf, since Maita belonged to her pack, but she wasn’t getting any of it.

“You know, you should be lucky there is an iron bar separating you and me right now. Who the fuck do you think you are to tell me who to implicate and who not to? Did I not just catch her in the act of plotting with you?” Shit! How did it get to this?

“Lyra, please say something. How can we save Maita from ending up like me?” Loo

Horres“I knew you would go there to take a peek.” Could this guy be spying on me or something? I was alone when I left my room to glimpse at Holmes’ daughter, so when did he even find out I went there? Did I miss anything? “What are you doing here, Oxley?” I stepped into my chambers with him in tow. I didn’t invite him in, but I wouldn’t drive him away either. Wouldn’t that make me feel guilty for merely watching Celeste bathe? Even though that was an exciting feeling, I didn’t do anything wrong. I only wanted to ensure that she was in good shape to perform her duties toward our guests tonight. “Horres, you have always been a man who went for what he wanted, so I’m shocked you wouldn’t just take what belongs to you this time around.” What! Was this dude for real? Oxley thought I was being a chicken for not taking Celeste.“Oxley,” My back was turned toward him, while my voice drifted coldly in the quiet room. This conversation wasn’t going the way I wanted. The memories I tried so

CelesteI trembled where I stood as the omega stepped away with a triumphant grin on her face. She wouldn’t even respond to my questions after dropping that bomb on me. What did she mean by that? I was boiling so much that wiping that grin off her face with my fangs would have been an awesome idea—just that I haven’t even shifted yet. “Lyra, tell me I heard things wrongly. What did she just say?” I asked Lyra, hoping she heard something else. I hoped with everything in me that it wasn’t true. My ears should have been playing a prank on me, right?“Your performance tonight would determine Maita’s treatment in the dungeon.” I sucked in a deep breath, trying to steady my heartbeat as Lyra repeated the omega’s words without mincing words. “That’s what she said, Celeste. What are you going to do about it? Would you stand here and cry, or get your head in the game?” Lyra was right. I had the chance to do whatever I was told so that Maita wouldn’t suffer any further. However, my mind didn’

  • A Breeder for the Vindictive Alpha   039: What do you mean by that?

Celeste “Walk faster, princess.” The two omegas were sent to fetch me didn’t look like they had any time to waste. To make matters worse, they refused to respond to all my questions. The only thing they were willing to do was to command me to move faster to wherever they were taking me. I didn’t even know where we were headed. The only thing I could remind myself of was that if they had wanted to kill me, they would have done that a long time ago. So I was obviously not being led to the stake.I haven’t been to this part of the pack before, since I spent my days here in the dilapidated woodshed or the dungeon. Ever since Maita’s arrest, I haven’t heard anything from either the alpha or the lady who wanted me dead at all costs. Nothing prepared me for Maita being sent to the cell beside mine. When she came in, the bubbly and cheerful young lady I had known since arriving in the Iron Fang Pack was nowhere to be seen. In her place was a young lady who looked so lost and scared that

Celeste “Are you for real, Lyra? You’re really apologizing to me right now?” I was momentarily stunned and couldn’t get why she suddenly sounded nice for no reason. I was already used to her jabs and careless utterances.“Yes, Celeste. I’m sorry.” The heck! She said it. Am I dreaming right now? My wolf just apologized to me without stuttering. Ha! What could be the real issue? Could she be hiding something from me? “Apology accepted, Lyra.” I paused and tried to pick my next words carefully. I was still thinking about how to save Maita. She didn’t deserve to be treated so badly just because of me. If I could understand my wolf better, maybe we could strike a balance, and she would suggest a way to save Maita without having her shoulder the blame for something she knew absolutely nothing about. It was okay to implicate one innocent person, but not two. If I could stop her from suffering a terrible fate just because of her association with me, I would do it gladly. “Eat the food yo

  • A Breeder for the Vindictive Alpha   036: I like this one

CelesteI felt my eyes watering at her words. I would have been a liar if I said her words didn’t move me.She was right. There wasn’t a single fact pointing to me, apart from the item being discovered in my room. Did I even have any place to call my room? Tsk! Well, the alpha of this pack chose to believe that I faked my three-day-long unconsciousness. That was the only logical explanation for whatever happened, and he chose to believe it without a second thought. Not that he would even give me the chance to explain myself.Well, I wouldn’t blame him if I were in his shoes. Alpha Holmes was a demon, and anyone associated with him couldn’t possibly be a saint, right?“I like this one. She has a nice head on that neck of hers. And quite a good heart too. I think she was once where you are right now. She knows how it feels.” The heck! I thought Lyra said she wouldn’t be up in a long time. This arrogant wolf of mine has only been sleeping after she healed me. I couldn’t tell what else
