CHAPTER 41

(The Devil Behind The Smile)

Anna's breath stalled as Daniel's finger brushed over her lips, slow, intentional, as though he owned the right to touch her there.

His voice dropped to a velvet whisper that chilled her more than it soothed.

Floor to ceiling windows stretched across one side, revealing New York in all its chaos, yet within these walls the world bent to his control. The only sound was the soft rustle of papers as Ryan read back tomorrow's itinerary, his voice steady and efficient.“...and your meeting with the board will begin at ten sharp, followed by the call with our Shanghai partners. Afterwards, a private lunch with the defense contractors. That should take us into the evening.” William leaned back in his chair, pinching the bridge of his nose.
